Fact Not Fiction – Trees Lyrics 18 years ago
this is a short song about what I saw one day while in a daze during the summer of 07.

"I saw your face in the most oddest place..oh no" is a line about seeing someone, in some place that you would never expect to see them, and perhaps wouldn't want to see them.

"And the trees are so green. It can be the most beautiful thing you've every seen" is a line I felt as I was drifting down a current in my mind and looking up towards the sky and noticing it passing by and wondering why, a lot like I wonder why life passes by so quickly.

the song is in all sense, a short poem, put into music.

Fact Not Fiction – Tree Carvings Lyrics 18 years ago
In September of 2006, some friends of mine, had one of their close friends die in a tragic car accident. I knew the guy, but we had never spoke that much, and after hearing about his death I was overwhelmed for some strange reason, maybe it was the fact that he had passed at such a young age. I did not attend his funeral, out of respect. I figured if I didn't know him that well, I would not attend and leave attendances to his loved ones and close friends. However, as I’ve witnessed too many times, I heard about people being at the funeral, fronting to be missing him when in reality, everyone in the room knew that him or her had hardly spoken to him at all and wasn't considered a "friend".

With some people, I can understand going to pay your last respects just because you knew him or her, but some people go to put on a show and mingle with the crowd. that's where the line "Im not gunna pretend like we were friends" came from.

The name "Tree Carvings" suited the song best because the tree that his car hit, still stands today with carved messages from loved ones on it.

The line "And so the dollar bill has taken it's place...how it influences your ways" was inspired by one of my best friends that inherited a large amount of money one year and was never the same again. This was a random but true line, that was put in the song.

the line "She's telling me not to worry" is in reference to a hospital worker calming a saddened person or a close friend speaking comforting words.

Fact Not Fiction – The Ballad of Jack and Amy Lyrics 18 years ago
This is a very symbolic song so I’ll break it down to you line for line. "Jack was a man that lived in the sand" is in reference to a person that spends his days on the beach like so many people do that live on the coast, there for are often referred to as "people that live in the sand".

"Amy was a girl that was new to the world" is referring to a freshman college student that has just arrived for her first year in college and is looking for things to do for entertainment. "She lived in the coalmine out of town" recalls the dorm rooms and apartments outside of college towns that are so much like coalmines in the fact that they are all the same and contain the same thing.

"DreamerLand" is a fake town in my mind that I refer to as any normal city or place that people wish they could be.

From here on, the song tells a story of Amy and her friends going to see Jack and his band play a concert in DreamerLand and after meeting Jack, she fell in love.

"She placed her small heart in his hand" means she gave him her love and trust.

The line about Marching Bands is referring to the steady beat that they keep, much like a heart does.

The last line shows that Jack and Amy became lovers from then on and made a life for themselves in DreamerLand, struggling to pay the bills but are still happy to have each other.

this is just the story of the song, I’d love to hear how it has affect you.

Fact Not Fiction – The Astronaut Lyrics 18 years ago
When people think of an Astronaut, they often think of people in big white suits with oxygen helmets. When I think of an Astronaut, I think of someone that is 1000's of miles from home and in some way, that's how a lot of people feel at times in their life. The song is about a person that's had to leave his home for unannounced reasons and is recalling a promise that was made to them by a lover, but never kept and they are trying to cope with it and tell themselves that everything is alright, but they can not help the feeling of sadness and being alone.

Fact Not Fiction – Stars and UFOs Lyrics 18 years ago
Stars and UFOs is perhaps one of the most random songs we've composed but at the same time, still makes sense. The first verse basically describes a person settling up and activating an answering machine to catch important calls while he or she is away, in hopes that it might catch something from an old lover, family member or friend.

The second verse is about a man as a small boy, looking through his telescope in his room at night in hopes of catching a glimpse of a star or UFO or other beings in the night sky. While in his search, he noticed the open window of a "girl next door" changing into her cloths for the night and it attracts his attention to other searches.

Fact Not Fiction – Song for Jane Lyrics 18 years ago
Through out the long but short time Fact Not Fiction has been a band, this song still remains a fan favorite. Lyrics from the song are meant to describe a boy's wish to just forget what he had in a relationship and move on, but then he realizes that if he loves the girl, he can't just forget about her, forget about everything they had and will never have again.

Fact Not Fiction – Psycho Lyrics 18 years ago
The lyrics of this song are a jumble of memories from my life in my mid teens. They were provoked into a song when an old girlfriend's mother accused me of being "Psycho" one night, out of anger. so in more ways then one, the song is my way of confronting that. This is perhaps one of the darkest FNF tunes.

Fact Not Fiction – Powder Bag Lyrics 18 years ago
First let me put the rumor to rest that the song "Powder Bag" is a reference to Cocaine. This is however, not true. "Powder Bag" is the name of a local boat ramp also known as "Chicken Tree" and is basically the place to go when you and someone have to 'duke it out' or settle things 'man to man'.

The title actually doesn’t have that much to do with the song meaning, but we felt it was a cool name and some how suited the tune, so we went with it.

The words from the song are more-or-less a joke about the many actresses that flock to California in hopes of becoming the next big thing. We do not intend to poke fun at this people, it's just a song. We fully support all models and actresses in California right now :).

Fact Not Fiction – New Year's Resolution Lyrics 18 years ago
This song was written on 2 separate occasions. One night while driving back from a show in Elberton, GA I noticed the yellow lines passing me by on the road, thus came the line "Yellow lines underneath my feet on the long drive to your hometown." the rest of this verse was inspired by a typical "rock show" the band puts on.

The other half of this song came while I was in Clemson, SC at a small gathering of friends and later on in the night I had became involved with this girl after an argument with my, at the time, Girlfriend, that later resulted in a break-up. So the rest of the song is about a relationship breaking away at the edges and falling into a big pile of nothing.

Fact Not Fiction – In My Car Lyrics 18 years ago
Ah, this song has a interesting story behind it. One night in early 2006 a guy had went on a double date to Anderson (imagine that...)and afterwards, back in the country part of Hart County, he found himself shut in a car with this girl all night until the sun came up. "We might just stay up till the broad daylight". And the fact that this guy was shut in the car with this girl all night, came the name "In My Car".

Fact Not Fiction – Girls that say "Like" Lyrics 18 years ago
This song was produced one night when I was sitting on a couch and thinking about my early high school years when every Saturday, we could all be found down by the lake around a bond fire and we would just stay there all night, every weekend. Also memories from a time when a small group of fiends and I climbed an old fire tower known as Air Line Tower. The tower had been abandoned since the 70's or 80's so plenty of the wooden steps were rotten but as long as you kept to the metal rails you would be fine. Once you reached the top of the tower, you could see for miles around and we would often just go up there and watch all the things going on around us. That is where the line "And as our hands connected to the metal bars, we found ourselves closer to the stars" came from. This was the first single to come off of "A Corporate Calling".

Fact Not Fiction – Electric City Lyrics 18 years ago
One of the biggest things to do in Hartwell is to go to Anderson, SC. Why? because they have a movie theatre basically and a lot more things to do. It's not that Hartwell's a bad town, it's nice and quite but sometimes you just need to be entertained.

This song recalls old memories of dates and puppy love, boy/girl things and what goes on most of the time, only in a romantic way. This song was written for the City of Anderson, SC and remains to be their official City song.

Fact Not Fiction – Chandler's Ferry Lyrics 18 years ago
There is this place called "Chandlers Ferry" down the road from my best friend's house. It used to be a park/camping site/boat ramp area, but was shut down and abandoned years ago. There are a lot of stories of why it closed such as "Someone was murdered"… "The place was overrun by wild wolfs" and simply: "The place just didn't get enough business“. After re-searching the place a while back, I found that they did indeed get quite a lot of visitors, but the park was shut down because of a contaminated water supply or something to that nature. But anyways, now in modern day times, the park is over grown with trees, bushes, wild animals and the marks of time. The roads that once lead somewhere are now just a maze of ghost trails in the woods leading to Lake Hartwell. A lot of the old ticket buildings and restroom structures are still standing and there's a few parking lots overgrown with weeds.

So none the less, not a lot of people know about this place, and my friend and I would often go camping down there during the summers with plenty of booze, a tent, smokes, a guitar and other friends from time to time. This song basically describes what went on down there between a few camping trips. The beauty of this song is that every line in this song is 100% true and did happen. This song is really close to me and the friends that went camping with us down there many times.

I recall waking up down there one morning, in a puddle of cold rain water. Apparently there was a hole in the tent and it had rained all through the night, so after making the 1/2 mile walk back to the car, hung over and freezing, it was really something we can remember vividly.

Now, the county officials are thinking about clearing out the land that is now "Chandlers Ferry" for Log Cabin houses. I kind of hope that does happen, but you can't stop change.

Fact Not Fiction – Disappear Lyrics 18 years ago
the main meaning of this song is about the feelings one has after being left behind in real life, or a relationship and how memories can haunt a person for a long long time. The lyrics in this song, at the bridge, can be thought of as a warning of suicide. But that's up to you, we look forward to seeing what you think it means.
