The Astronaut Lyrics

Things happen for a reason
i never meant to hurt you.
And i can see your face
every night in a dream.

Blue skies surround my head
as i stand outside your window.
and there's a voice inside my head
telling me to go back home.
But i can't
i will not let this rest
until you know.

That nothing turns out the way you planned it.
And love's just a word and i can't stand it.
Im leaving this note at the end of the hall way.
I asked would you be there and you said "always".

That nothing turns out the way you planned it.
And love's just a word and i can't stand it.
Im leaving this note at the end of the hall way.
I asked would you be there and you said "always".

Standing on the tiles of New York city
a wind blows down my neck.
A public worker in the middle streets
telling me to "to move alone"
Alone
Alone
Alone.

That nothing turns out the way you planned it.
And love's just a word and i can't stand it.
Im leaving this note at the end of the hall way.
I asked would you be there and you said "always".

Cover art for The Astronaut lyrics by Fact Not Fiction

When people think of an Astronaut, they often think of people in big white suits with oxygen helmets. When I think of an Astronaut, I think of someone that is 1000's of miles from home and in some way, that's how a lot of people feel at times in their life. The song is about a person that's had to leave his home for unannounced reasons and is recalling a promise that was made to them by a lover, but never kept and they are trying to cope with it and tell themselves that everything is alright, but they can not help the feeling of sadness and being alone.
