if u turn the balance of ur speakers all the way to the right, you can hear Matt repeats "...when I can't breathe" in the background starting around 3:23. ive listened to this song a million times and never noticed that until i listened to it after my left speaker broke XD so going back to the meaning, that would contribute to your theory of it being about Houdini. |

this is one of their more post-hardcore songs, as opposed to their usual crunk rock, but i love all of their songs. its about how he loves God, no matter what. he's sayin he'll give up everything to prove his love for Him: "I Put My Money Where My Mouth Is Shut,Give It Up Even The Show Biz" pretty much, he will always love God. |

ok, im probably totally wrong, but i think this is about his gf cheating on him. caus the last line: this letter is scarlet because it's addressed to you reminds me of a book i read for school called "the scarlet letter" and its about a woman who has to wear a red "A" on her clothes to show that she commited adultery. so that goes back to wha i was saying about his gf cheating on him and how his love for her died 10 years ago ("oh how cliche it is to sing about the stars when they burnt out about ten years ago") |

i think this songs about a relationship. he's in love with this girl, but they always get into fights. and "the red poison of your lips, the red poison of your eyes" he means like her always saying negative things about him, and giving him glares to show she's mad at him. and i think when he says "please someone help me, im dying here in front of you" he means that his relationship with the girl is ending. and when he says "with a hundred thousand lights, timing is everything" he has to break up w/ her in a public place?? that with so many ppl watching, he has to break up at the right time?? but w/e happens in the end he knows that the relationship will never die (the title). i dunno. i know thats crappy, but thats what i think about every time i hear the song. |
