i don't think it necessarily means about someone whose unavailable due to cheating... i think it could mean he just can't give her what she deserves. he can't give her everything she needs, and so he's pushing her away...creating walls, making himself and his feelings unavailable to her. the relationship could very well be falling apart, and this is her way of wanting to "dig into him, bend his pain, and turn him into something good"...something what she deserves. she loves him. she doesn't want to let him go yet. she knows he should leave and it would be the best for the two of them...but she wants to "convince him to stay", but she knows, deep down, if they were to stay together, eventually they'd be "torn apart" due to one of them breaking eachother's heart somehow. he runs from something he wishes to keep. he wants her, but know he doesn't deserve her and is letting her go. |

you know, at first, i thought the only part that was based around the notebook was that part in the chorus when he says "if you're a bird, then i'm a bird". but if you really listen to it, this WHOLE song is based around the notebook. 'cuz noah stays with alley until she dies, and then he actually loves her so much, that he ends up dying with her. and the whole second verse is like, when noah is at the home with her, and their kids come to visit and they tell him to come home. and he tells her that he can't 'cuz their mother is his home, and he's supporting her, and he's just glad she's still breathing. idk, it just really sounds like the whole movie to me. i love this song, i gave it to my boyfriend on his c.d i burned for him :P and these boys are geniuses, they know every girl can't resist this movie, an ultimate chick magnet song for them ;) hahaha. |

god. im still in love with this song. it's funny, this song came around when my boyfriend broke up with me. usually im the type of girl who dumps and moves on easily...i don't usually get my heartbroken, i'm the heartbreaker. but this boyfriend, was like, different from my others. i liked him since freshmen year. then finally, my sophomore year at this dance, he asked me out. && i was beyond stoked. unexpectedly, shortly after he asked me out...about a week later he just dumps me. i didn't know why or couldn't understand why he would. but he did, && i didn't see it coming at all. i was so heartbroken...and its been. about. three months? and he went out with another girl since then.and i dated other guys after he broke up with me. but im still not over him. i keep hanging on to him, and he's the only guy that i have ever. EVER. felt that way for. so yeah. this song pretty much has been played about two hundred times on my itunes. |

mayday parade is truly an amazing band, no joke. i knew about them for about six months now, && their song "one man drinking games" blew me away, && actually made me cry (not tear, but like. actually cry), probably because of how beautifully written the song was && how i could relate to it so much. the lyrics are not only amazing for this song, but everything about it is just WOW. |

humm. i think i took it the wrong way. haha. i took it as all the letter said was, "im sorry that you were asleep when i wrote all these words down" && he was basically saying everything else from there. to meee, i thought that she didnt like him but he loved her, && he saying how shes his everything && the whole "how will i break the news to you" thing was like, "how will i tell you that you're everything to me?" because he knew that she didnt feel the same way. hah, im probably confusing people but chyeah. that was my interpretation on it ^^ |

| i saw this on a friend's page...he was like, in total like with this girl who just didn't feel the same way back. so i kind of related the song to his situation. like, to me, it means that this guy loves this girl. to him, she's his everything (all the love metaphors he uses) but he KNOWS she doesnt feel the same way, which is why he's saying, "how will i break the news to you?" the phrase "hold me down" is usually a term used in a positive light, but in this song, i think it's more of a negative. he uses that line after he talks about how he'll have to pick up his things later, cancel dinner, etc. so he knows that loving her is holding him down. he sees loving her as a curse...her being his everything is a curse. she's holding him down. so yeah, basically, she doesnt feel the same way about him the way he feels about her. it's a whole "i love you, BUT" kinna thing. | |
