Munificent, artless and ascetic Playing like a scared Enthusiastic pawn I wonder if this part is about losing control and being thrown into the music business 'munificent' because he was so liberal in giving everything he had to the music business. 'ascetic' (meaning strict self-denial) perhaps having to do with his attempt to gain control through anorexia. 'playing like a scared enthusiastic pawn' another indicator of a loss of control, feeling used perhaps. I don't really know...but it is a gorgeous song..really dynamic |

This one is sort of a mystery to me lyrically. I't's beatiful and I want to know what it means. I'll give it a whirl anyway. The line "your shit just tastes as sweet as mine" to me is aimed at supercilious individuals, who for whatever reason are under the illusion that they are superior. Perhaps it is pointing the finger at those with deep religious views? Maybe it's trying to say that they need to be associated with a religion to be a part of a group and to feel like their life has meaning. I think it might be critizing their attitude of superiority...or maybe it's just advocating equality in general.Am I a God or am I Jesus? "Am I a man or am I a boy? Do I feel love or just possession? Do I feel holy or nothing at all?" This part makes me think about people's need for acceptance. I really don't know for sure...but this song is awesome. |

| I'm not absolutely sure, but to me this song seems to expose the ridiculousness of someone who is constantly displeased with their situation. A whiny person, perhaps? Person #1 ponders whether person #2 really has it all that bad throughout the song...wondering just why that person is so melancholy. That's just how I see it..it's a catchy tune. | |

| I know that specifically, this song addresses the issue of anorexia, but to me this song could be about any destructive behavior that a person feels like they need in order to gain control over their life. In any case it’s a gorgeous song-very touching. | |

| The word ‘duress’ means forcible restraint or restriction. I think this song is about defeat and the trials and tribulations of dealing with reality. I feel like the song is trying to convey a general sense of conflict. The subject resorts to sleeping worries away and discovers that the problem persists in wakefulness. To me it’s about an inability to conquer that which displeases you. | |
