The Chad Who Loved Me Lyrics
All come crashing down, your desperate icon
You've got to gob on, your desperate icon
You'll all come crashing in, your desperate icon
You've got to gob on, your desperate icon
Am I a God or am I Jesus?
Am I a man or am I a boy?
Do I feel love or just possession?
Do I feel holy or nothing at all?
You can't deny
That your shit just tastes as sweet as mine
And you can't deny
That your shit just tastes as sweet as mine
Sweet Jesus
You've got to gob on, your desperate icon
You've got to gob on, your desperate icon
Am I a man or am I a boy?
Do I feel love or just possession?
Do I feel holy or nothing at all?
That your shit just tastes as sweet as mine
And you can't deny
That your shit just tastes as sweet as mine
Sweet Jesus

This one is sort of a mystery to me lyrically. I't's beatiful and I want to know what it means. I'll give it a whirl anyway. The line "your shit just tastes as sweet as mine" to me is aimed at supercilious individuals, who for whatever reason are under the illusion that they are superior. Perhaps it is pointing the finger at those with deep religious views? Maybe it's trying to say that they need to be associated with a religion to be a part of a group and to feel like their life has meaning. I think it might be critizing their attitude of superiority...or maybe it's just advocating equality in general.Am I a God or am I Jesus? "Am I a man or am I a boy? Do I feel love or just possession? Do I feel holy or nothing at all?" This part makes me think about people's need for acceptance. I really don't know for sure...but this song is awesome.
I thought this song sounded awesome, so I decided to look up the lyrics. I'm disappointed by them.
It looks like they're first addressing someone hopelessly relying on religion without any real grasp of it. That is not inherently bad to address, but the scope shifts over to viewing Jesus as if he wasn't really important at all.
"Am I a God, or am I Jesus?" So you're saying he wasn't God?
"And you can't deny That your shit just tastes as sweet as mine Sweet Jesus"
Sweet Jesus is either said out of exasperation in the form of an expression, or the word "sweet" is heavy sarcasm aimed directly at Jesus.
I'd like to know what the writers intent was, so I can have some sort of closure as to whether these lyrics are noble or ignorant. It is one of the coolest songs I've ever heard, after all. :(

@handicappedhero Agreed! It sounds like so much more text is in the song than the lyrics actually show. And yeah, having a hard time grasping the substance (if any) of them.

This song is pretty incredible. The way it flips from orchestra to guitar is so seamless and amazing.
i love this song but i have no idea what it is about. the way paul sings the lyrics always makes me shiver a bit.
i wonder if 'chad' in this is a reference to dominic chad, the bass player of mansun
P.S. I'm sorry I spelled beautiful wrong..and criticizing.
this song is just a reason for why, for three months in 1997, mansun ruled the known world.
