| Thank you for making sense out of the lyrics, great interpretation! | |
| The Jimi Hendrix Experience – Little Wing Lyrics | 14 years ago |

Couldn't it be about the archetype of "the" woman? I don't mean that "Monterey-as-girl" crap he told the people that interviewed him. Just picture the lyrics as a metaphor for what we all wish for in a woman. We will never get "it", 'cause that's what archetypes are: perfection, models, something to aspire to; but we will always have that concept in our minds. Just like the idea of perfection itself. Am I making any sense? |

| Omar Rodriguez-Lopez – El Todo Lyrics | 14 years ago |

This I did not foresee All I did was follow you The reasons ceased to exist As a consequence of deciding Another one that has fallen into the peacefulness of the sea The colour of your voice brings only solitude Love is frail without pain Love is untrue without pain The departure of honor Leaves traces of illusion My hair dyed with trust You took away my effort Another one that has fallen into the peacefulness of the sea The colour of believing brings only solitude Love is frail without pain Love is untrue without pain My take on its translation: feel free to correct me if you speak perfect spanish! (I know I don't :)) |

| Madredeus – O Pastor Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
A rough translation to english would be, for those of you interested: Oh, no one can turn back To what one has left behind No one can leave the "great" wheel No one even knows where one has been. ("great" wheel being a literal translation; what the lyricist means is that no one is able to quit halfway through the "continuously-spinning-circle" that is... life.) Oh, no one remembers Not even what one has dreamed of (and) that little boy is chanting The shepherd's song. (this last line is the name of the song: O Pastor means The Shepherd) In the distance The bark of fantasy Is still on fire And my dream ends so late It leaves my soul on guard In the distance The bark of fantasy Is still on fire And my dream ends so late All I want is not to wake up. (It is very difficult to accurately translate all this without feedback from native english speakers; but, er, I chose "bark" instead of boat because it has, in both languages, a bit of a literary and poetic feel to it; and fantasy may not be the appropriate word but the idea is that the bark is some sort of a representation of an archetype - a physical representation of ideals.) As for its meaning, I am not entirely sure but overall the lyrics seem to call for a reflexion on what is real, what has happened and how one cannot change that; and then there is the bark of "ideals" which seams to have caught fire and thus represents a big blow for improving and enhancing the world we live in. Anyways, my 2cents. Would appreciate any feedback in regard to the translation and my interpretation, thanks. Edward. |

| King Crimson – The Power to Believe I: A Cappella Lyrics | 15 years ago |

any idea on who wrote it, Belew or Fripp? or who she is? or if it is a metaphor for something, like Man's will, rather than a female individual? is she faith? (not religious, just throwing ideas around). is she a woman, one so inspiring that gave him back the power to believe? any thoughts? it's dead simple, yes, but I love the way the song opens the album. and i can't believe there are no comments! |

Can anyone tell me where to buy the Lyrics Booklet for this album? I know I'm a couple of years late but bear with me: I'd like to give the vinyl and the booklet as a gift, and I can't seem to find one! Thanks. |

| John Mayer – Slow Dancing in a Burning Room Lyrics | 15 years ago |

Good job, theIrishMick317, your "review" is, imo, spot on. I still maintain, though, that it's only when you go through a break-up like this one, that you truly understand each and every line of John's song. Oh and, someone had to say it so, god the "slow dancing in a burning room" metaphor is just brilliant! |

Alguém sabe se o número do quarto, por si só, tem algum significado? Gosto imenso do efeito "falado" da voz do André na música. |

| Incubus – Smile Lines Lyrics | 18 years ago |

i think this song is about the lyricist falling for a girl in a "high-school" kind of way. And by that i mean he tries to get the girl, making her see that things were "syncronised" so that the two of them would meet (synchronicity being a coincidence of events that seem to be meaningfully related) and that insecurities are pointless. he then realizes that the way he feels and thus the way he acts is so not according to his age that he finally understands what people mean when they say "highschool never ends". but that's just my interpretation :) |

| Incubus – Sick Sad Little World Lyrics | 18 years ago |

when asked, in a recent interview, if dirk's departure had anything to do with the lyrics from the song "sick sad little world", brandon replied: "No, not directly. That situation was kind of a long time coming, so it wasn't a surprise or a shock in any way. It was tragic in the sense that there was a longtime friend moving on and away from us, but there were actually a number of people in my life at that particular time who were trapped in this sort of "leave me alone" phase, whether it was through addiction or personal strife. All of that became alarmingly clear, that, for me personally, before it was a song, I needed to get some sh*t out of my system, make sense of it, write it down, and then it started to form itself into a song." the song if my favourite by incubus. but somehow i can't put into words my reasons... maybe it is the breath-taking guitar tab, the vibe i get from it (probably the same vibe they felt when they wrote it, naming it on a first approach "turbo geek", cos it seemed the proper word to describe how they felt while playing), the amazing lyrics or everything put together. the thing is, i don't respond the same way to this song as i do to any other, i can't listen to it as if i were listening to something else. and im pretty sure all incubus fans agree with this point. |
