| Katy Perry – E.T. Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Please, FireEatersWife, look two comments up. Also, the whole asterisk thing that you're doing just proves how immature you are. If you want anyone to take you seriously, you won't explain what you WISH you were doing through asterisks just to try and prove a (stupid and worthless) point. "Oh, look, I'm sitting in my basement on my computer at 3am, and I am pretending to sip coffee, so I shall let the world know through asterisks. I am such a REBEL!" You're an idiot. Did you know that? |

| Katy Perry – E.T. Lyrics | 14 years ago |

I dunno what you're smoking, but... Seriously? Kary Perry singing about Doctor freaking Who? Yes, because that fits in SO well with her album about teenage dreams and sudden breakups, and heartache. YES, she is DEFINITELY singing about Doctor Who. (Just a footnote, I love Doctor Who, but... FREAKING SERIOUSLY?!?!?!?! I mean, you're joking, right?! RIGHT?!?! BAHAHA!!! W-o-w.) |
| Katy Perry – E.T. Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Bah ha ha, this doesn't have to do with aliens, people. It's about experiencing something she's never experienced before with someone who is probably not good for her, but is exciting all the same. Think about her WHOLE album when you consider this song; her entire album has a storyline to it, and this is just one part of it. If you have iTunes, look up the album and read the description. This song fits in perfectly with the overall meaning of the ENTIRE album. "... She sings truthfully about ending a relationship with an addict ('Circle the Drain'). On 'The One That Got Away' she explores love lost and questions her own identity with 'Who Am I Living For.' In the end, Perry deconstructs her own 'Teenage Dream' and examines the illusion of her own device." - Part of the iTunes album description. |

| Leona Lewis – I See You Lyrics | 14 years ago |

I usually find the themes to movie credits kind of cheesy, but this one I love. Especially the end. So dramatic and... I just love it. Really, there's no need to try and break down the meaning of the song. I think it's pretty obvious. :P |
| Regina Spektor – Laughing With Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I don't know why people are trying to figure out this song... I think this is a rare RS song that is quite literal. We all know she's religious. | |
| Team Waterpolo – Letting Go Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I suspect a large amount of comments to be heading this way because of the Telus commercial... Hell of a catchy song, definitely, but kind of sketchy, too. I believe this song is about sex. Friends with benefits. Hence the line, "Never wanted to be more than a friend (to you)". Maybe they're falling for one another, but they break apart ("So here's a toast to all the times that we spent/Maybe next time we'll hold out 'til the end/In the long run, can I depend on you?") "Have you gotta... let it show? / / Have I gotta... go?" |
| Regina Spektor – Blue Lips Lyrics | 15 years ago |
"They started out beneath the knowledge tree. Then they chopped it down to make white picket fences" This actual means something totally different to me. They started out under the same tree, but chopped it down to take separate lands for themselves. They started out together, and destroyed nature mindlessly, as you said, but to separate themselves from what they were, that is to say, humans have been separating themselves from one another. I bet RS actually just puts random words together that sound good, and goes, "Uhh, yeah, yeah that's the meaning... suuuuuuuure I meant that when I was writing it..." I agree with what you wrote. Very nice! :) |

Correction: ***The pictures in his mind awoke, And began to breed. I absolutely love this song. I had the live version, but the CD version is 100% better! <3 I love this woman. I love her songs! |

| Spencer Day – 'Til You Come To Me Lyrics | 15 years ago |
OMG I love this song, and why no one's commented I've no idea. Obviously about a break-up, he had really fallen for her, and now he's stuck at home, waiting for her to call, to show up, etc. He's quite confident too, that she'll return "Just you wait and see/You'll come back to me". It's kind of like the song "Flowers On The Wall" by the Statler Brothers (though I like the Eric Heatherly version better......... MUCH better. Country's better than old-fogie, crowded-around-one-microphone music.) |
| Puscifer – The Mission Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Guinea - NOT ITALIAN Guinea - Old name for AFRICA before official names were created for countries (From 16th-19th centuries). Just thought you should know. WTF is it about Italian? Really? No. No idea what the song's truly about, just thought I'd throw that tidbit of FACT out there. |
| Puscifer – The Mission Lyrics | 15 years ago |
ACTUALLY, Guinea is what Africa used to be called (there were a few names for it, but Guinea mostly). Hence, New Guinea, the Guinea (a coin made of gold from Guinea AKA Africa). Guinea does NOT mean Italian. Holy crap, am I the only one to see that? Now read it with that context: Bought a hot shot gat from a North-End Guinea. (I have no idea where the north-end comes from, but Guinea is not Italian.) |

| Apocalyptica – Life Burns! Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Ahh, the Rasmus... how they fell. Anyways, this song seems pretty straight-forward, especially the lines "We have no sympathy for the lost souls/We've chosen the path of disgrace/We give this life to our children/And teach them to hate this place". It's about humanity and how everything ends so easily, life, the world... mmhmm. |
| Imogen Heap – Hide and Seek Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Actually it's all vocal, that's the beauty of it. Her voice electronically changed, but it's all layers of her own voice. If you listen carefully enough, you can hear what sounds like a synth is actually her staccato-ing a word. Not a lot of people sing a cappella... especially by themselves. |
| Billy Talent – Fallen Leaves Lyrics | 15 years ago |
About drugs. Plain and simple. Can't get no job, can you spare a dime? Just one more hit, and I'll be fine I swear to God, this'll be my one last time! When it gets dark, in Pigeon Park Voice in my head, will soon be fed By the vultures, that circle round the dead! Run away before you drown, or the streets will beat you down Fallen leaves, fallen leaves, fallen leaves, on the ground Fallen leaves are not noticed by people walking by, same as druggies sitting in the street begging for money. Fallen leaves = people fallen from grace (for want of a better term.) |

| Disturbed – Forsaken Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Obviously you have not read The Queen of the Damned... or The Vampire Lestat. This is Lestat singing about himself being a vampire (duh) and how he hates how he has to hide from the mortals, has to keep his existence a secret. It's a direct translation from the book to the movie. (I see that now.. I obviously wasn't thinking before.) |

Why does this song remind everyone of their ex's? My god people... I agree with 'The Wanlorn'. One line in this song sums up the entire mood of the song. |

Has anyone noticed the weird high-pitched squeaking noises too in the beginning, or just me? YES THANK YOU FOR RUINING THIS SONG FOR ME jkjk but really. That was Holy Crap Creepy. Never noticed, but thank you AlyLikesOWLS (do you like owls, by any chance?) |

Just found this song. Probably one of my favourites, and it's a B-Side? They're bad at choosing their own songs for the CDs. Really. I LOVE the staccato of the bass and guitar in the verses. And the ever-present drums. I don't care what this song is about, or -who- he's singing to, or -what- he's singing to (cause, c'mon, it's Matthew Bellamy... Plug-In Baby much?) I just love listening to their music. Gooooooooooooooooooooood song. |
| Muse – Host Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Pretty sure the lyrics are "Sick of this space." Definitely sounds like a place and not a girl he's singing to. Why would he sing about how she abuses her, how horrible she is to him, then say, gee, wish we could run away together... no no, he's singing about a place. |
| Muse – Exogenesis: Symphony Part 3 (Redemption) Lyrics | 15 years ago |

Does anyone find this funny that this is the last song on the CD? Maybe you didn't buy the CD... hmm... hence why you're coming on here for the lyrics... lol anyways, it's the last song on the CD (weird CD case btw, gets dirty REALLY easy) and it says "Let's start over again..." and the CD restarts. Love it. Frikkin' LOVE Muse! Can't wait until March 30th! |

| The Rasmus – In The Shadows Lyrics | 15 years ago |

You're cute. Because you're fucked. I think it's strong that you can judge other people on their music, when your account name is "quiffporn" ... AND, not only are you fucked, but you took the time to come on here to tell The Rasmus fans how stupid we are. You have no time, no life, and, really, you're probably the guy from the Numa Numa video on YouTube. Just saying. Cheers fucker. |

| Coldplay – Violet Hill Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This entire CD has the theme of the French Revolution, including the cover! If you know the FR, then you recognize some themes in this song: "Clearly I remember/From the windows they were watching/While we froze down below", "Was a long and dark December/When the banks became cathedrals/And a fog became God" you know. It obviously is him singing to a girl, and the entire meaning of the song is... pretty much that. Not hard o figure out. Great song, btw! Love it! |

| Muse – Guiding Light Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Real lyrics: "Pure hearts stumble In my hands, they crumble Fragile and stripped to the core I can't hurt you anymore Loved by numbers You're losing life's wonders Touch like strangers: detached I can't feel you anymore The sunshine trapped in our hearts It could rise again But I'm lost, crushed, cold and confused With no guiding light left inside You were my guiding light When comfort and warmth can't be found I still reach for you But I'm lost, crushed, cold and confused With no guiding light left inside You're my guiding light You're my guiding light When there's no guiding light left inside When there's no guiding light in our lives" I have the CD. These are the real lyrics. Has anyone noticed that the tune to this song is close to "Bluebells of Scotland"? Strange. |

| Muse – Unnatural Selection Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Real lyrics: "They'll laugh as they watch us fall The lucky don't care at all No hope for fate It's unnatural selection I want the truth I'm hungry for some unrest I want to push this beyond the peaceful protest I wanna speak in a language that they'll understand Dedication, to a new age Is this the end of destruction and rampage? Another chance to erase then repeat it again Counter balance this commotion We're not droplets in the ocean They'll laugh as they watch us fall The lucky don't care at all No (hey) chance (hey) for fate (hey) It's unnatural selection I want the truth No religion or mind virus Is there a hope that the facts would ever find us? Just make sure that you are looking out for number one I'm hungry for some unrest Let's push this beyond the peaceful protest I wanna speak in a language that you will understand Counter balance this commotion We're not droplets in the ocean They'll laugh as they watch us crawl The lucky don't share at all No (hey) hope (hey) for fate (hey) It's a random chance selection I want the truth Try to ride out the storm Whilst they'll make you believe That they are the special ones (We have not been chosen) Injustice is the norm You are not the first And you know you won't be the last Counter balance this commotion We're not droplets in the ocean They'll laugh as they watch us fall And the lucky don't care at all No (hey) chance (hey) for fate (hey) It's unnatural selection I want the truth, I want the truth I want the truth, I want the truth" I have the CD. These are the real lyrics. |

| Regina Spektor – One More Time with Feeling Lyrics | 16 years ago |
"Your stitches are all out/But your scars are healing wrong/The helium balloon inside your room has come undone/And it's pushing up at the ceiling/And the flickering lights it cannot get beyond" - By stitches, this could be a recent wound. Metaphorically. Everyone experiences it. Just because you're not bleeding, doesn't mean you're not hurt (Do the lyrics "Just because I'm hurting/Doesn't mean I'm hurt/Doesn't mean I didn't get/What I deserved/No better and no worse" from the song Lost! by Coldplay come to mind?). The wound, emotional, mental, whatever, could have just recently healed, but healed wrong. Helium balloons, well, balloons, are a sign of innocence, or freedom, (or both, really, when you think about it) has "come undone," see also "left." You can see it, and it's trying to get past the "flickering lights" or, here appropriately, be lost. If you're in a hospital, and you're helium balloon comes undone, if you leave the hospital, you're probably and most likely going to leave that balloon there, leave it behind. "Everyone takes turns/Now it's yours to play the part/And they're sitting all around you/Holding copies of your chart/And the misery inside their eyes is synchronised and reflecting it to yours" - Everyone takes turns getting hurt in this world, whether through break-ups/split-ups, death, defeat, etc. Now it's this person's turn. Someone dies or whatevs, and the chart they're holding is something official, cold, formal (again, think of hospitals. There are no emotions on charts, just information free to all) but they have emotion in their eyes, which is shared mutually through all parties. (Really, this entire song could be taken as a hospital scene, and translated metaphorically from there. If you've been in a hospital for more than a few hours because of a sickness or some other physical malady, then you'll know what doctors and nurses can be like toward you.) "Hold on/One more time with feeling/Try it again, breathing's just a rhythm/Say it in your mind until you know that the words are right/This is why we fight" - Well, you can't break this down, because the entire phrase means (personally) that you have to fight the misery/pain yourself, and you can't let someone else do it for you. Whatever is wrong, you have to deal with it yourself. "You thought by now you'd be/So much better than you are/You thought by now they'd see/That you have come so far" - You thought by now that you'd be all right, but in all reality, as soon as you're faced with whatever is wrong (again, death, pain, injury, defeat, etc.) you break down again, and it's like the first day after whatever happened. Imagine breaking your legs, and you think you can walk again after just a short amount of time, and you're so proud, until you stand up and... you fall down, because you're not ready. Similarly, someone you know dies, and after a few days, you think you can face your family/friends, and realize, after it's too last, that you can't deal with it just yet. (I think that's the hardest one to face. Gotta hate breaking down in front of people you've solidly convinced you're all right.) "And the pride inside their eyes/Is synchronised to a love you'll never know/So much more than you can show" - I guess this is a confirmation of the last line, for whatever happened, the people who you've "convinced" (when, really, you convinced yourself instead) know that you can't deal with whatever it is just yet, and they're fine with you teaching yourself the lesson, because they know they can't. "This is why we fight/This is why we fight" - This is why be try. This is why we're here. This is why we fight to live: physically, mentally, emotionally. |

| Regina Spektor – Genius Next Door Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Instead of thinking of the lake as a literal lake, what if the lake were just rumours about this genius. The town spread rumours which become "as thick as butter" overnight. The neighbors try to keep quiet about it, but it's the loudest thing you'll hear in conversation. The rumours don't have to be bad, nor do they have to be good. Don't overrule the suicide part, or perhaps is murder, whatever, because the end, "In the morning the film crews start arriving/With donuts, coffee and reporters," hopefully assuming correctly that the film crews are there because someone died (the rumours/lake got so thick), suicides and murders only make the news, obviously. OR The rumours became so thick that this genius was placed on a pedestal of clouds (they seem solid until you step on them), something that a TV crew would find worthy of putting on television. By the way, I think the lyrics are, "If you're just holding your breath/'Til you come back up in full/Hold in your breath/'Til you've thought it through/You fool." I think the part, "... To strip his clothes off by the dumpsters/At night while every one was sleeping/And wade midway into that porridge/Just him and the secret he was keeping," could mean he revels in the rumours, because they're about him. The secret he's keeping, well, it could be chalked up to the fact that he likes being talked about, whatever it is they're all talking about. Although they don't admit to it because they know it's, societally, wrong, a good percent of the population will take pleasure in being talked about, have rumours spread, because it causes attention to be shone on them. I'm not saying everyone likes it, but a good portion of humanity has experienced this at least once. Orgasms are elation, excitement, well, in the extreme, and can be a metaphor for, again, attention. It would make sense of the part, "And the genius next door was sleeping/Dreaming that the antidote is orgasm." Instead of just rumours, he wants everyone to just like him, see him as someone they love and adore, not just someone to spread rumours about. Believe me, in a small town, rumours are EVERYTHING. They're almost a currency. Es ist schrecklich. (By the way, totally off topic, but has anyone else noticed that Shrek, you know, the big green guy (no, not the Hulk) his name sounds exactly like "schreck," which is German means "fright"? Ha ha. Anywhoooooooo. The more you know. Da da daaaaaaa.) |

| Regina Spektor – Genius Next Door Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Agreed. On at least every song I've looked up on here, someone says, "Oh, yeah, I know them," or "I just met them, and they described the song to me." Well, folks, artists don't just go, "Hey you! You look like you're wondering what my latest song was about! Well, I'll tell ya." Some people can be so stupid. Nooooooooooooooooooooo idea what this song is about, but it's fun to sing along to. |
| Curve – Chinese Burn Lyrics | 16 years ago |
It sounds more like someone who was tortured as a child (you know, someone who was taunted and teased... everyone's experienced it) and she's ready to prove that she's better than everyone. "She could win this game and be the queen for good." Probably not right, but that's what I picture it as. Although, an internal struggle... well, that takes some wild swings of the imagination, but I guess that could work, too. |
| ABBA – Voulez-Vous Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Love this song. Definitely my favourite. This song does NOT have to do with drug dealing in dance clubs. Whoever thought of that was an idiot. It's about chances: "Take it now or leave it/Now is all we get/Nothing promised, no regrets/Voulez-vous..." Not drug dealing. |

For God's sake people! This song is not from Batman! It's from Watchmen, and that version is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT! The lyrics AND the title are different! Stop complaining! That one is called: 'The Beginning is the End is the Beginning.' This one is called: 'The End is the Beginning is the End.' Get it right! Check it out: http://www.songmeanings.net/songs/view/433/ |

This is how I hear that line: "And now I'm with you now Inside your world of woe." It makes more sense. The one you wrote makes me think of World of Warcraft. Ew. |

Taken from http://bb01.sov.uk.vvhp.net/ryandan/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=303 "'The Face' immediately resonated with fans across Canada and Masri couldn't be more excited. "I wrote the song for my two year old son Lucas as a reminder that I will always be by his side. I was thrilled when my writing partner Stephan Moccio told me that RyanDan wanted to record and release the song on their debut album. The fact that the song is seeing so much success is wonderful, as it has a very special place in my heart."" |

| Muse – Con-Science Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Can anybody here explain to me why science has anything to do with this? Just because it's called Con-Science doesn't mean it's about some con doing science. For god's sake, we're not stripping apart the title! Take "Muscle Museum." What does he sing about? Pictures of muscles on display and him walking through? No, he's singing about relationships or whatever, it just so happens that in most dictionaries "Muscle" comes before Muse and "Museum" comes after! Get it together people. Who cares what the title says? Most times, those have nothing to do with the song! Even books do that. Whoever was comparing the title to the actual song is an idiot and shouldn't be allowed to listen to music. Ever! |
| Muse – Con-Science Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I have a feeling it's about someone dying or going away from him, hence: "I can't pretend choose how it ends you slipped away questions here to stay" Usually you feel what this song portrays after someone dies. It just fits. It would have fit the scene when my best friend died. |
| Coldplay – Viva la Vida Lyrics | 17 years ago |
The line is, "I know Saint Peter won't call my name." I know English accents, and that is NOT "will," so the lines are right. Stop saying it's "will," because it's not. I have absolutely no clue what this song is about, but maybe a breakup in a super exaggerated form? You know, "For some reason I can't explain Once you'd gone there was never Never an honest word And that was when I ruled the world" because when you love someone, you feel on top of the world, and the girl left him, and now he feels as though he never actually ruled the world? Or perhaps not. Maybe it is about religion. Dunno. |
| The Rasmus – Everything You Say Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I change my answer. It's not to his parents. I think it's about the media. Tired of being seen as a bird in a cage (All celebrities aren't seen as what they are.) Tired of being heard all he did last week (The Media really likes picking on what the person did every hour of every day.) Obviously you want to be me ‘cause everytime when I fall you're the first to reveal me (Well, that's an obvious line.) Live for yourself instead Do me a favour Feed your empty head You drive me close to the edge (Basically, stop picking on my life and everything I do, and live your life, not mine. Or, more simply, 'Go away!') Everything you say, you say to annoy me Watching every move I make whenever I'm around (Well, that one's pretty obvious too.) Everything you do, you do it to destroy me (Destroy his career, his relationships, just by saying, 'Seen at a party, did some stupid stuff, and we have full coverage!') Waiting for the darkest hour to put me down (Making something out of nothing. He's in a bad mood, and they assume he's breaking up with someone, or they hear something he says and they say something entirely different. Making a mountain out of a molehill.) Time is gradual, the surface is all you can see (Again, like the first line, they can't see ~him~, but only what's on the outside.) And if I told you the truth you will not understand me (Again, if he was in a bad mood and told them what happened, they'd be like, "OMG! SOMEONE DIED!") So... yeah. |

| That Handsome Devil – Elephant Bones Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Dudes, we're gonna be here longer than a thousand years. We may be killing the planet, but I don't think we're going to die out any time soon. 7076, baby. 7076. NOT 2012. That was advertising for something. |
