| Guillemots – Blue Would Still Be Blue Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| What I love about this song is it's brutal honesty and pure eloquence. One voice. One xylophone-like instrument. It's clear and it's to the point. It's not a slew of unrealistic promises that every other love song speaks of. Hense "things would just be easier with you." He's still in tough with reality, he'd "still make mistakes" and "blue would still be blue." The earth wouldn't stop spinning but he knows his life would be simply easier with "you." | |

| Patrick Watson – The Great Escape Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I think suicide is too obvious and far too disappointing. Suicide is the ultimate undoable thing. I think this is about letting go of all the things you just don't need to worry about in your life. "Bad day. looking for the great escape." It's just a bad day. It's not the end of the world. And he's looking but you don't hear him escaping. We all look for a way out of the things that make our days bad. But life means learning how to deal. All I know is suicide is ugly and depressing and selfish. And this song is too beautiful to be characterizing such a nasty alternative. |

| thank god. this song gives me chills. it makes me think about my entire life. and my future. and my hopes and my dreams. it just makes every worry and fear go away and calms me in the worst of situations. all i need is that 1 minute an 3 seconds of this song and i'm in heaven. thank god i've found a way to express my love for such an eloquent one minute and three seconds. | |
| José González – Heartbeats Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| When first hearing this song, I immediately recognized it as The Knife's. But almost like Iron and Wine vs the Postal Services on "such great heights" I can't choose which one is the best. All I know is the song is so amazing on it's own, you can turn down the volume an make someone cry with it and then turn it full blast, add an electronic beat and enough to make someone wanna dance. However, I think Gonzalez's contribution shows how incredibly sentimental the lyrics really are. Its meaning isn't obvious but then again neither is love...or life for that matter. | |
| Nine Inch Nails – Capital G Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| and even if this album is set in the future, it could be a metaphor. history repeating itself. a sort of allusion to the "past" [present] seeing as history seems to have been repeating itself ever since Bush declared war cough vietam cough. that would also tie in his reference to dropping a bomb. we all know we bombed japan in wwII but he's suggesting we'll do it again in the future if we don't wake up and change. | |
| Nine Inch Nails – Capital G Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| oh and i think "trading in our god for this one" is talking about his obvious offense to the christian faith. he advertised himself as a good christian for votes and yet, he goes against everything the christian faith believes in. so in turn, when the he received the christian vote, it was almost as if he asked of them to give up their religion and devotion to God. Forget what they know or think is right and accept him as their God and all-knowing rule maker. But that's just my interpretation. | |
| Nine Inch Nails – Capital G Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I don't think this is only about Bush but those who forgot about what their faith really was and chose to follow a different "god" like figure. Bush. I also think it not only points out the problems in the Bush Administration but presents the problem with our government and its system for letting so much chaos happen in both the present and the past. I think Bush is just a clear example he has presented for everyone to see so they can make that connection and then make further ones as they go along (seeing as it's no great mystery that Mr. President's approval rating is at an all time low.) I don't think it's unoriginal for him to bash Bush. He's done it in a creative way and he's making connections and allusions to the past and future at the same time. It's almost seems to me a satirical rally for everyone to wake up and smell the roses. |

| The Shins – When I Goose-Step Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i agree completely with captainsano. i think it's the only one that makes total sense. but that's just me. and even though this song seems to have such a grim connotation, the sort of reggae beat and pleasant vibraphone accompanyment is just so...playful. and...happy. bittersweet? | |
| Peaches – AA XXX Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
i think it's bra size. it could even mean she's thinking triple x but she is a double a. but it doesn't hurt her sex life. and common ladies and gentleman. we're talking about a woman that likes to occasionally wear a fake beard. i wouldn't put it past her to be so open about flat-chestedness. and also asks who's going to step up. and last time i checked, when one masterbates, they fly solo. which includes me myself and I. no stepping up of other people is required. |

| Peaches – Bag It Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| oh and i don't think it's "you rope the string" but rather "you go extreme when you get with me." that would make a lot more sense. :-/ | |
| Peaches – Bag It Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i love this song. it's beat is amazing and the lyrics have excellent, catchy rhyme. however, i have no idea what kinda of sexual innuendo it could be...and all of her songs have SOMETHING sexual in them. my friend have come up with a fake but very humerous theory. we imagined young peaches singing this song whilst bagging groceries at her in her early teens when forced to work at her nearest grocery store. just to make the time fly. now i know someone's got something better out there... | |
| Hot Chip – Arrest Yourself Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i agree. could very possible be the best from that album. the beat always gets my adrenaline pumping. esp. whilst driving. heh heh heh. i love this song. | |
| Hot Chip – Playboy Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| the lyrics are so deep and mournful but the melody and beat is so...how do I put this...gangster! I love it. | |
| Múm – We Have a Map of the Piano Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
This song is one of my very favorites. Out of all of my 9.5 GBs of music...i have played this one the most. The lyrics must have been translated from icelandic into english which is why their meaning is unclear. If only I knew icelandic, then maybe I would know the meaning of it haha. But the hypnotic sounds, rhythm and enchanting piano makes me wild. And as for playground_love's response, that was true for me. =] |

| Michael Bublé – You and I Lyrics | 19 years ago |

One of my favorite songs...ever. His voice is like butter and the lyrics are so solid;they're so sure that true love has been found and that it's never going to go away. |

| Foo Fighters – Virginia Moon Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I hate to say it but I think this means exactly how is sounds. I think it's about the beauty of the moon and the romanticism that beauty brings with nightfall. Dearest constellation, heaven surrounding you Stay there, soft and blue Virginia Moon, I'll wait for you tonight [The night is beautiful and they await the moon] Sweetest invitation, breaking the day in two Feeling like I do Virginia Moon, I'll wait for you tonight [When nightfall comes, the day takes a different turn and along with that turn comes a different feeling. In other words..."the night is young." And now our shapes become shadows in your light In the morning when we're through And tomorrow rescues you I will say goodnight [They use the light and illumination of the moon as much as they can until the morning comes and takes away the romanticism. Until the next moon, they have bid it adeu.] Secret fascination, whisper a quiet tune Hear me calling you Virginia Moon, I'll wait for you tonight [Their love of the moon is not discussed yet they call to it quietly in song] |

| Harry Connick, Jr. – Where Or When Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This is not just about Deja Vu. I think it's about reincarnation. Loving someone so much but having little reason. Feeling familiarity with someone you don't know very well but know you feel comfortable with. It remains a mystery where but the question "when" suggests that time certainly is a factor. And unless amnesia took place...it's probably referring to another lifetime. |

| Devendra Banhart – The Body Breaks Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
"It reminds me of loving someone far away" This song reminded me of someone I love very much yet lives very far away. And the lyrics just seemed to come together. The body breaks And the body is fine I'm open to yours And I'm open to mine [This explains their love and openness to each other. Their bodies break and then they are fine when they meet.] The body aches And that ache takes it time But you'll get over yours And I'll get over mine [They ache to be with each other but they have to wait so they have to get over that pain.] And the sun will shine And the moon will rise up [Life goes on. Maybe the time difference would explain how ironic it is that a moon should rise and a sun should shine. One may wake to a sun but their love may wake to a moon.] The body calls Yeah, the body, it calls out It whispers at first But it ends with a shout [They call out to each other but as their love grows, their distance makes them more anxious] The body burns Yeah, the body burns strong Until mine is with yours Then mine will burn on [The frustration goes on and until they are united, their bodies will forever crave one another; this also explains devotion to each other.] My flash sings out It sings, "Come pour me out" [I thought this was "flesh" but...whatev. Once again "come pour me out" = "let me near you in my opennes.] The body sways Like the wind on a swing A bridge through a hoop Or a lake through a ring [Life goes on. They live their lives as steadily as the wind blows, the bridge through the hoop the lake through the ring.] The body stays And then the body moves on And I'd really rather not dwell on When yours will be gone [They have agreed to be with each other but they cannot be together physically so he fears the end will come but refuses to dwell on that fear.] But within the dark There is a shine One tiny spark That's yours and mine [Through the difficulties- the "dark"- there is hope-a "shine." It's small but it's theirs.] |
