| Imagine Dragons – Bleeding Out Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I think the person reflected on this lyrics is at a very low point, depressive frame of mind and letting the other person see him at his worst ("bleeding out", figuratively speaking, people. Not everything has to be literal. He said, "If the last thing that I do is bring you down, I'll bleed out for you."). I feel his intentions are to affect the other person enough so they can be equally miserable (for lack of a better word) and, therefore, bond through that misery given to this newfound understanding of each other. (He said, "When your eyes are red and emptiness is all you know, with the darkness fed, I will be your scarecrow.) | |
| Franz Ferdinand – Auf Achse Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Exactly! Just because they use religious imagery it doesn't mean that the song is about Jesus. (The also did something similar to this in "The Fallen".) | |
| Florence + the Machine – Dog Days Are Over Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| This song is about empowerment, picking yourself up and moving on. | |
| The Killers – Joy Ride Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| This song is a joyride. No need to over analyze it. Drew2794 has it! | |
| The Killers – I Can't Stay Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I can tell you one thing, the Caribbean tropic fanbase is going to LOVE this. | |
| Razorlight – Wire To Wire Lyrics | 16 years ago |
LOL That made me laugh, sickstring. I do like Razorlight, but when I heard this song for the first time, I got a WTF look on my face. It feels like a bunch of pretty lines you would feed someone to sound deep and emotional. So, I can see why some people are going to love it and some are going to diss it. I think they may have tried too hard with this song (and a couple more of the same album). Just my opinion. Anyway, as for the topic of the song, is about two damage people by love and in a way, that draws them together .... but at the same time, it's not easy for them to open up themselves to love when is the exactly what got them like that in the first place. |

| The Kooks – Jackie Big Tits Lyrics | 17 years ago |
They reveal that their song Jackie Big Tits is actually a riposte to Mike Batt, Melua's mentor, with whom Pritchard had an angry confrontation one night in Amsterdam. Luke went to the Brit School, where he dated Katie Melua, about whom he wrote most of the band's first album. Link: http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2008/apr/04/popandrock1 E.ludzenski, that might explain the laughter as well. |

| Franz Ferdinand – Katherine Kiss Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Yep, those two song are definitely a combo. Two of my new favorites, I must say. I think I love them both just because there's absolutely no pretense on their lyrics. They are not misleading, and very introspective. Let's you get into the mind of this boy on the prowl. Love the ending. lol |

| The Killers – Tidal Wave Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I love this song. A testament to Brandon's story-telling. His vocals make this song. I agree this story is about a young couple, a new prospect of love in general & what draws them in, teh attraction, the unavoidable chemistry. To me tidal wave = emotions, but not necessarily after a break up. Maybe more those initial feelings one had when you feel there's chemistry with someone. I think the singer wants the tidal wave to "rush over him" because he hasn't been so lucky with previous relationships. He longs to feel that rush of emotions and for them to be true. He can't go back without feeling that again. |

| The Killers – A Dustland Fairytale Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Amazing. That's sums it up. | |
| The Killers – Losing Touch Lyrics | 17 years ago |
One of my favorites of DAY & AGE! To me, this song is about someone that's in a very dark point in his life. This person feels miserable, deppressive, and is almost venting, clamoring for help and direction from someone else. He is almost asking to this other person to reassure him that the gloomy thing he is feeling are ok to feel. He is lost in his feelings not seeing a way out of them. I love it! This song exudes desperation. |

| Johnny Flynn – Tickle Me Pink Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Source: http://www.losthighwayrecords.com/artist/press/detail.aspx?nid=2131&aid=258 "I wrote it when I was feeling particularly despondent about things. I tried to just cheer myself up. It has a seemingly quite dark chorus - 'pray to the people inside your head, they won't be there when you're dead- - which sounds dark but is meant to be hopeful and celebratory. Getting away from all the temporal stuff that we get caught up in." |

| Johnny Flynn – Brown trout blues Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I found this here: http://www.losthighwayrecords.com/artist/press/detail.aspx?nid=2244&aid=258 Johnny Flynn: "Well it’s loosely based around experience wanting somebody or something to be a certain way in a relationship and wondering how it could change. But then realizing that that would defeat the point and that you can’t change someone they have to change themselves. The title is a thing that me and my dad had [Johnny’s dad was stage actor Eric Flynn, who died in 2002 - Ed]. We used to go trout fishing a lot and we caught a lot of rainbow trout, but we wanted to catch brown trout because they were quite rare so if we went out for a day and didn’t catch a one we’d say we had the Brown Trout Blues, so it’s kind of a joke that I called it that." |

| Johnny Flynn – The box Lyrics | 17 years ago |
litterateur is right. Henry David Thoreau's Walden inspired "The Box." "Thoreau's saying that somewhere along the line we've gone horribly wrong in collecting all this stuff," Flynn says. "It was really that whole thing set to a story basically in a song." Source: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=93881943 |

| Johnny Flynn – Shore to Shore Lyrics | 17 years ago |
He says he was inspired to write the song "Shore to Shore" after reading about a tragic accident in the newspaper: A girl named Blessing had been hit by the same No. 12 bus in south London that Flynn himself once rode. Blessing's father also drove a bus on the No. 12 line, a few behind the one that killed his daughter. "It was quite a shocking story to read about," Flynn says. "I was trying to work out how we're supposed to place tragedy like that in our heads and in our sense of how the world works in terms of our faith and compassion." | Johnny Flynn – Brown trout blues Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Other than being a great, amazing song ... I think this song is about someone being hesitant about compromising or giving up something only to stay with this other person. Lyrics check up on the 2nd verse: I could be somewhere else I should be someone else but You wouldn't know me if I was You'd say I was a stranger just because You'd say I wasn't weak enough for you You'd want me just to feel as you do too Last verse: I could be somewhere else I should be someone else But how you are mister? I know what I'm called It's just you got me You got me, you got me stalled. |

| The Killers – Spaceman Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I found this: http://www.rollingstone.com/blogs/smokingsection/2008/09/brandon-flowers-talks-day-age.php ________________________________ So, if Sam's Town is about Vegas, what is this one about? For me it's definitely a continuation. On this one I was thinking more universal. Like, when Morrissey was singing about Manchester, I thought, "I got it." [laughs]. I don't know. Maybe I didn't. I feel like that's the duty, I guess. You're supposed to represent where you're from, and—I'm trying to figure out what that is— I don't know how to do it. I don't know. Is it about spending so much time away from home? Yeah, I said it's like looking at Sam's Town from Mars. It still always goes back to Vegas but it's, yeah, it's definitely maybe, maybe from an outsiders perspective… ________________________ So there's the alien abduction perspective maybe ... |

Like others, I'm glad Flowers stayed with the story-telling. One of my favorite things about The Killers. I agree the song is metaphoric, which at the same time, makes it possible to have a lot of different interpretations. I see this song as someone who was disenchanted about the live he is living and wanting to quit the ways of how it has been going. Particularly because of the things that have been going on around him, he feels as if he should not be doing what he is doing. Maybe Flowers is talking about his music career. But then he has a turning point, somewhat like an epiphany and makes him change his mind. He is set to carry on with whatever way he has been living. Though sometimes he still "hear those voices at night sometimes". Those voices that caused the hesitation in the first place. |

| The Killers – The Ballad of Michael Valentine Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Yes, it does Nosdravde, which kind of rocks even more! So, I read all you have said about this Michael Valentine dude. But before that, I thought that maybe he was talking about himself, about how he used to be ... so the song was basically him reminiscing and yearning for that a bit. And we he said "MV, can we unite?" we wonders if this new him can be like MV for a bit, for one more time ... Stupid? Yeah. I know. LOL! One of my favs songs in Sawdust! I always appreciate when people give Spanish a shout out. I think that my favorite part of the song is at the end, though. When he says "and I got a cold tail left to write .. uh uh oh ..." Ahhhhh! Sexy! |

| The Hives – It Won't Be Long Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Pelle said that this song is about leaving home, about leaving town, one of the classic rock n roll subjects. (NME video for the Black & White Album) | |
| The Hives – Bigger Hole To Fill Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Pelle said that this song was about your parents and them having the solution for everything but not really doing a damn shit about it. (NME Video for The Black & White Album) | |
| The Hives – You Dress Up For Armageddon Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This is one of my favorites from the new CD. I though this song was about people that are overly dramatic, who try to make a show out of everything and he's just the opposite and doesn't want to hear it. But I like this 'emo bands' idea. It fits too, especially the part about 'who is that man with the microphone' bit. If it is, then it is genius, which means that I wouldn't put it pass these guys, as they ARE geniuses! =D |

| The Killers – Show You How Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I loved this song in about 2 seconds into the song. I love the old school rock n roll feeling ... I mean, the whole "OW!" at the end ... haha, that was so right! I was about to do it myself. OW! |

Very beach boys-ish, but still sounds modern and cool! Oh, Ronney, you know how to do it! The title is pretty clear. |
| Rooney – Are You Afraid? Lyrics | 18 years ago |
If she wasn't afraid, she'll be after this song, hehe. It sounds very entracing. |
| Rooney – Calling the World Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Great Song ... great musical arrangements ... This song is about being completely oblivious of the whereabouts of someone that you cared for and someone who you thought you had something going on. Clearly, you don't, hehe. Awww, poor thing. |
| Rooney – When Did Your Heart Go Missing? Lyrics | 18 years ago |
For me, the song is about having a relationship end by the other half and being left wondering what went wrong and what made the other person "change her mind". I really like the chorus!!! |
| Ace of Base – Happy Nation Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Well, I'm going to go the other way and since Jen and Linn of AoB used (or still do, don't know) to sing in church, I'm going to take it like a Hymn ... sounds bible like ... That said ... instead of think of Hitler (haha), I'm going to go the spiritual way and think of The Man aka God or its equivalent. I agree with Aldryg (above) interpretation, speacially the "traveling in time" thing. |
| Ace of Base – Ravine Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I read this ... "Ravine" was written by Jenny of AoB and apparently this song is a direct reference to an real-life home attack that Jeny and her mother were victims of, when a crazed woman came in and even stabbed Jenny's mother in the hand. This happened in 2004. This song is truly beautiful. Feels like an awakening. |

| The Hives – A Little More for Little You Lyrics | 19 years ago |
