Arsis – The promise of never Lyrics 19 years ago
This is the resolution to "A Diamond for Disease". In this final chapter of the story, the man murders his terminally ill wife, as a result of the humilation and pain he felt and the hatred he felt towards her.

This is a less complex song musically and lyrically than "A Diamond for disease", again reiterating the feelings he felt upon first learning of her illness in "A Diamond for disease", before murdering her.

Its implied that she was skinned ("I took your evil skin away") suggesting that the man has finally broken and lost his grip on sanity.

It is also implied that she was pregnant at the time of murder ("Your vile unborn bastard") making this a double murder, with an infanticide.

Musically this is a much shorter and simpler song than "A Diamond for disease", highlighting how he no longer comtemplates what has happened, nor experiences any conflicting emotions, his hatred now has him looking only straight ahead to murdering his wife. Musically, the song is fast paced, with no slow downs or interludes, making it a very intense song, to emphasise the true gravity of the situation and the extreme measures that the man was forced to take to regain himself.

Other than being called "Gears of War", there is nothing to suggest this is about the Xbox360 Game.

Arsis – The Sadistic Motives Behind Bereavement Letters Lyrics 19 years ago
Very dark subject matter, the writer seems very bitter to the gaurdian or person who should have been responsible for the suicide victim.

However, I sceptical as to whether or not James wrote this to someone, or received it himself, the second one seems very unlikely. Had he himself been responsible, or at least blamed by someone for not being responsible for someone who committed suicide, I doubt he'd want to make a song about it.

In my opinion, these lyrics are merely a story being told, that doesnt mean they actually had to happen to James.

Arsis – A Diamond For Disease Lyrics 19 years ago
This song (And the A "A Diamond for Disease" EP) is not trying to say "Marriage is a sham".

This is a concept EP consisting of 3 parts, the first track, the 2nd being an Alice Cooper cover that happens to fit the theme but doesnt really progress the story and the 3rd track being the conclusion

In this particular track, the subject is looking back on proposing the woman he loved, after learning of her terminal disease (hence a diamond for disease, the "Diamond" in question being the engagement and wedding rings.

The subject realises his marriage can deliver nothing, and he will only lose the woman he loves, and so begins the resent her. He feels extremely humilated ("Grandest humilation") by admitting his love to a woman who knew of her illness ("Only you know the truth") and still accepted to marry him, knowing it would only end shortly in her death to the terminal illness.

His humilation is further compounded because he came "like a moth to flame" and didnt learn the truth before asking her to marry him ("I never knew")

He begins to feel that that his feelings have been suffocated by this woman (the "Act of strangulation") and his resentment grows, and he focuses on the "Promise of never", realising that in time she will die and leave him alone. He despises her for her "deceit". His hatred is expressed strongly throughout the song,

I have tried to look at this as perhaps his resentment that he will lose the woman he loves, but his continued focus on his own pain and humilation, along with the way he talks of hatred of the woman suggest that all semblance of love was destroyed when he learned of her illness, and he no longer feels any compassion for her, only hatred for not being honest with him, and humilating him in the process.

The finale is played out in "The Promise of Never", track 3 from the "A Diamond for disease" EP
