The promise of never Lyrics

To celebrate the guilt,
(the lies of whispering shadows)
and tattoo their words upon your ever scarring flesh.

(beaten, reject, follow)

To make believe there is no guilt,
to wield the liar's dagger,
and clasp his hand to celebrate the countless unborn bastards.

To praise the guilt some more,
and in the eyes of the fallen,
embracing the swine,
this foreplay strangulation.

(Beaten, diseased, hollow)

Though your disease is ever mine,
I gave you Diamonds,
and in an act to seal the oath,
I gave you Roses,
be careful of the fucking thorns.
In your eyes I saw the end,
these were your words
"The promise of never".

Still in denial of the fact that our feelings dissolve.
I took your evil skin away with the blade of the liar's dagger,
and clasped your hand to celebrate to celebrate your vile unborn bastard.

This is the resolution to "A Diamond for Disease". In this final chapter of the story, the man murders his terminally ill wife, as a result of the humilation and pain he felt and the hatred he felt towards her.

This is a less complex song musically and lyrically than "A Diamond for disease", again reiterating the feelings he felt upon first learning of her illness in "A Diamond for disease", before murdering her.

Its implied that she was skinned ("I took your evil skin away") suggesting that the man has finally broken and lost his grip on sanity.

It is also implied that she was pregnant at the time of murder ("Your vile unborn bastard") making this a double murder, with an infanticide.

Musically this is a much shorter and simpler song than "A Diamond for disease", highlighting how he no longer comtemplates what has happened, nor experiences any conflicting emotions, his hatred now has him looking only straight ahead to murdering his wife. Musically, the song is fast paced, with no slow downs or interludes, making it a very intense song, to emphasise the true gravity of the situation and the extreme measures that the man was forced to take to regain himself.

I thought it was about him asking someone to marry him and then finding out she was pregnant by someone else

After reading your take on it, it makes sense... I'm impressed!
