| wow, that last anecdote is so eerie! Thanks for the analysis though, really wonderful | |
| Marcus Foster – I was broken Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
This is such a stunning song... a wonderful loss/breakup song, acknowledging the pain one feels and the scars one will carry, but ending in an uplifting crescendo celebrating defiance and strength in face of the loss, and the confidence and courage to go on with life, and "take the moon." Thanks for sharing the lyrics lassiecewis, and thanks to Foster for making this song--it's been an anthem for me during a difficult time, and always leaves me grinning, all the stronger for it. |

| Regina Spektor – Daniel Cowman Lyrics | 17 years ago |

just on the little tidbit of dc saying "how could the world go on if i don't exist": (in my opinion) it's not that he never existed, it's the concept of what happens to the world when you die. you experience everything in the world through yourself, it's all your personal perception. because of this, dc can't imagine a world (rather, the world) in which he doesn't exist, because in order for the world he knows to exist, he must be there to perceive it. what? i think i just confused myself. anyway... |

| Duffy – Warwick Avenue Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| beautiful. she has the perfect voice for this song. | |
| Scarlett Johansson – Anywhere I Lay My Head Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| this song would be perfect... if not for scarjo's voice. she's a briliiant actress and is absolutely stunning, but unfortunately you can't say the same thing about her singing abilities. what's more, it sounds computerized to the point that it's annoying. it's a shame, as the whole cd would be quite good with a stronger voice. oh well. kudos to her for trying. | |
| Lily Allen – I Don't Know Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| oh right i'm in ny so i was talking about the us vs europe lol | |

Yeah, i really really like this song, too. i've always liked her music, and this song just makes me think about how strange it is that she can be so famous on one continent and hardly heard of in another. once in a blue moon she'll pop up in vogue or something for sthg that she wore, but otherwise you never hear about her (or her music) unless you go searching for it. i just thought it was interesting that because of this dichotomy (in a sense), what i initally see as a nicely witty commentary on today's entertainment industry someone else sees as her comeback to show she didn't break down, which gives a totally different pov to consider (thanks feel me loud :-) ). this site is great in that sense. and i also really love her music. it has the extremely rare combo of being catchy, fun, and very well thought-out. |

| Jose Vanders – Fin's Song Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
haha i keep wanting her to say "thing" after nicest... but that would be a little too like nash, i guess :-) anyway, i really like this song. it's just sweet, simple, and has that little melodramatic/bittersweet sort of twist in the fifth paragraph (stanza?), that gives the lyrics more weight. the lyrics are great otherwise, but the not-everythings-happy-all-the-time thing that's going on in that stanza makes it more grounded and down to earth, and almost makes the other paragraphs more... believable (? that's not the right word, but perhaps you get what i mean. or perhaps i make no sense whatsoever, which wouldn't be an entirely new thing... :-) ) anyway, have a happy day |

| Kate Nash – Caroline's A Victim (Acoustic Version) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This version is sooo much better than the non-acoustic one... then again, that might be b/c i heard this one first, but i really think this one is catchier and works better than the almost over-produced other record-version. | |
| Jose Vanders – Alberto Morrocco Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| actually there was a scottish painter named alberto morrocco... but i just really love the tune of the whole song it's so nice and flowy and rather catchy :-) | |
| Jose Vanders – Matthew Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| awww... | |
| Kate Nash – Navy Taxi Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song is great. She speaks (sings, I guess) of so many different things, it almost seems disjointed, but that just makes it seem even more like the sort of interior monologue any one could have. | |
| Jose Vanders – faces going places Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Whoops I realized that I messed up one line: it's not "So she's bribing it with another lollipop" it's "so she's bribing with a lemon lollipop".... sorry! Anyway I really like this song... it's cute and creative... i just can't believe that Jose vanders is my age and already doing something productive with her life... makes me feel lazy. i mean, i've got dreams, I just don't know where to go. ok, that was cheesy. i'll stop now. |

| Terra Naomi – Never Quite Discussed Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| *sorry that should say blah, not b;ah | |
| Terra Naomi – Never Quite Discussed Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| in my opinion it's the opposite- not a new relationship but one that is starting to die out. as the unnamed guy is the "closest thing [she] know[s] to love", she sticks with him, but still, "time's a-wasting", and she's wondering if it might be better to leave him now when they both are in a b;ah mood about the relationship than later, when she could have a broken heart. meanwhile, they never discussed this tension, thus the name of the song. it's sort of a warning that she may just leave, because the relationship lost it's special je-ne-sais-quoi. | |
| Kate Nash – Nicest Thing Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
i really like the tune of the song, but I was actually surprised at the simplicity of the lyrics... it does add another element of innocenece, as crazee said, but i'm not so sure on the cheesy part. it could be considered that, but on the other hand, it's the simple thought process of a girl with a crush. kate nash is only 19, so it makes sense... i like it! |
