I Don't Know Lyrics
I wanna be rich and I want lots of money
I don't care about clever and I don't care about funny
I want loads of clothes and fuck loads of diamonds
I heard people dying while trying to find them
I'll take my clothes of and it'll be shameless
'Cause everyone knows that's how you get famous
I'll look at the sun and I'll look in the mirror
I'm on the right track and I'm on to a winner
I don't know what's right and what's real anymore
And I don't know how I'm meant to feel anymore
And when do you think it'll all become clear?
'Cause I'm being taken over by the fear
Life's about film stars and less about mothers
It's all about fast cars and cussing each other
But it doesn't matter 'cause I'm packing plastic
And that's what makes my life so fucking fantastic
And I am a weapon of massive consumption
And it's not my fault it's how I'm programmed to funtion
I'll look at the sun and I'll look in the mirror
I'm on the right track yeah we're on to a winner
I don't know what's right and what's real anymore
And I don't know how I'm meant to feel anymore
And when do you think it'll all become clear?
'Cause I'm being taken over by the fear
Forget about guns and forget ammunition
'Cause I'm killing them all on my own little mission
Now I'm not a saint but I'm not a sinner
And everything's cool as long as I'm getting thinner
I don't know what's right and what's real anymore
And I don't know how I'm meant to feel anymore
And when do you think it'll all become clear?
'Cause I'm being taken over by the fear
I don't care about clever and I don't care about funny
I want loads of clothes and fuck loads of diamonds

awesome tune. :)
I'll look at the sun and I'll look in the mirror I think that this is refering to the British tabloid papers "The Sun" and "The Mirror"
Awesome demo of the song that has just been released
what's "packing plastic"?
I LOVE this song so much! I agree about the 'sun' and 'mirror' being references to the newspapers. I think ultimatley this song is about the whole fame and image obsessed society we live in and how people get so obsessed by fame they lose their judgement and don't know what's right or wrong any more. I think the first verse especially is aimed at young fame hungry girls. I really hope the song makes it onto her next album!
Yeah, the comments about the tabloids make sense. This song shows how much Lily has matured.
I absolutely ADORE this song! Lily is unbelieveably strong, so goddamn smart. People watching her over the past few months probably thought she'd break down, but she's come back even stronger. If that's not worth appreciation and reverance, I have no idea what is. I fucking adore this woman. Love. Love LOVE.
Oh, and to StuffLikeHearts: "packing plastic" is a slang term for having a credit card, I believe.
Yeah, i really really like this song, too. i've always liked her music, and this song just makes me think about how strange it is that she can be so famous on one continent and hardly heard of in another. once in a blue moon she'll pop up in vogue or something for sthg that she wore, but otherwise you never hear about her (or her music) unless you go searching for it. i just thought it was interesting that because of this dichotomy (in a sense), what i initally see as a nicely witty commentary on today's entertainment industry someone else sees as her comeback to show she didn't break down, which gives a totally different pov to consider (thanks feel me loud :-) ). this site is great in that sense.
and i also really love her music. it has the extremely rare combo of being catchy, fun, and very well thought-out.
oh right i'm in ny so i was talking about the us vs europe lol
im diggin her new stuff
Now I'm not a saint but I'm not a sinner And everything's cool as long as I'm getting thinner
my favorite part. her new demos sound a lot more mature but still like lily allen. i love how ironic her music is, the way her lyrics contrast with her high pitched cute voice it's hilarious i love it.
