Sara (of Tegan and Sara) has said that she wrote this song about her Grandfather. His partner, their grandmother, had just died. He had told Sara that it was really tough for him to be in the car now because when his wife was living they used to go on road trips and he's so lonely now without her. The song makes a lot of sense if you think about it in that context. |

I agree with yesterdaytomorrow I don't think this is about losing your virginity. In a couple of interviews Tegan has said that she broke up with her partner of 5 years while on the So Jealous tour. I think this song goes back in forth between when they first met, and right after the break-up. She remembers how quickly they fell in love and there was nothing she could do to stop it, it just happened ("I feel you in my heart, and I don't even know you") Then it goes back to present day with the chorus. I think the "call me" part is about how she wants to talk to her ex-partner so badly. I get that from later in the song when she sings "I cooked up a plan it was so good except I was alone You were all I had Love You" She can't except the break-up and she still loves her ex partner. Now she's questioning if the relationship was even worth anything because she was 19 and most people say you don't fall in love at 19. She says "I was yours right?" asking if she meant something to her ex-partner. |

I think this is about having a crush on a friend and knowing that you can't have them, but it's so hard because at the same time they care for you because you are their friend. The lines of friendship get blurred. |
