| Willie Nelson – Last Stand in Open Country (Farm Dogs cover) Lyrics | 8 years ago |
|
This is a cover of the Farm Dogs' song. The lyrics here are as in that song and as appeared in Nelson's album's liner notes. The Nelson version of the song omits a couple of lines: I was was looking for America in a western movie I saw Pike Bishop stridin' through Agua Verde He was headin down that dusty path Headin down to that blood path Chasin' down that golden calf |

Here are the lyrics for The Worry List: I'm tired, twisted, barely breathing, buried in the dark Don't be concerned, it's just the power of a breaking heart. How good am I hiding it? Look, I've got some bad intentions. Guilty as fucking charged. Still standing stable, more than able 'cause I know who you are. I know the birthdays, anniversaries, all the first days I missed. I regret them all. But now I know this: I know that God exists. I held her in my arms. I never knew I was able to ever feel this strong. Take me off your worry list. It'll be better that way. I'm really fine and there's nothing we haven't talked about. So, take me off your worry list I said, "Throw it away." This is what my life is about. I might have been gone but I never walked out. I've taken a thousand red eyes to change your point of view. What kind of man would take the trust you break and still follow through? 'Cause I'm standin' right here. And you may not show up. This same gate 14 where, honestly, I'm just sick of calling your bluff. And it's just embarrassing, that I nearly threw up And I'm trying hard to change the things I always screw up. And at the top of my list, this visitation's no relationship. But I gotta make the best of it. 'Cause I know - I know that God exists. I held her in my arms. I never knew I was able to ever feel this strong. Take me off your worry list. It'll be better that way. And I'm doin' fine and I've got plenty of friends around. Take me off your worry list. Just throw it away. Well, it's time to stand up on my own for her. 'Cause I'm packing it up, and I'm comin' today. I couldn't wait to finally pick my family up. Everything is quiet and covered in snow. There's something wrong here... Nobody's at home. Oh, no, no, no, no, no. Now, I'm back in the driver's seat. Heading back home. Yeah, back to Texas on my own. Take me off your worry list. It'll be better that way. And I'm doin' fine and I've got plenty of friends around. Take me off your worry list. Just throw it away. Yeah, it's time to stand up on my own for her. I'm packing it up, and I'm comin' today. This is what my story's about. I might have been gone but I never walked out. I'm packin' it up, and I'm comin' today. This is what your story's about. My pretty little girl, can you figure it out? If it helps to know so there is no doubt, Just listen to the stories. Not everything is glorious. Some hurt, some love, some shout. I fought the world and I lost that bout. And you are what my album's about. I might have been gone, but I never walked out. |

Since I can't put it better myself and to give credit where credit is due, I got this from the Blue October forum (http://www.blueoctoberfan.com/openBook/viewtopic.php?p=694637&sid=8ad011ec402074e248729cb1505eb78d), Keiv wrote: They started playing this song again at the end of the tour in 2004 and Justin would explain a little about the song before they would play it. The story behind the song takes place one night while Justin and Ryan were in high school. They were young, like 14 years old. They were hanging out with a couple of girls, and got ahold of some acid. They spent the night at one of the girls' homes and tripped on acid. The girl's parents were home and made Justin and Ryan sleep in the living room downstairs while the girls slept upstairs. The beginning of the song (I see your heart beat through the bedsheet, I feel your pulse against the floor. I sleep the sadness that no one else sleeps, can you feel me cunningly adore?) expresses Justin's longing for the girl as they slept on different floors in the same house. RouseMeNot wrote: Blue Sunshine is actually a direct reference to the blotter. It's also a movie from the 70's where accoriding to wiki "a group of college kids have taken a new form of LSD called "Blue Sunshine," which causes its users to lose their hair and become insane and homicidal." |

I think that Justin is singing about a dream he had (like with Into The Ocean). This dream involved him and the same girl he sang about throughout Foiled. He can't let her go (Everlasting Friend: "still missing you"), even after she married another man (Congratulations and Overweight). He pictures himself and her in a romantic moment, which they don't want to end ("we're trying so hard not to fall asleep"). "So we talked, about moms and dads About family pasts Just getting to know where we came from Our hearts were on display For all to see I can't believe this is happening to me" I interpret this as saying that the two of them (in his dream) have finally tried to get to know each other, which they failed to really do in their first try at a relationship, which is a possible reason for the breakup. They loved each other before, but didn't really express it. He loves her, which is seen throughout Foiled when he wants what's best for her and then wants her back after he has sorted himself out. She loved him as well, but his actions (e.g. drug abuse) made it too difficult to keep the relationship going (see Hate Me). He wants to be back with her and for them to be happy, so he dreams it. In reality, she has not returned to him, but he wishes she would (in the meantime, all he can do is dream about her): "And I'll try to sleep To keep you in my dreams 'Til I can bring you home with me I'll try to sleep And when I do I'll keep you in my dreams" This also reminds me of Calling You, where he asks: "If you're sleeping, are you dreaming? If you're dreaming, are you dreaming of me?" Now he's the one dreaming of her while she's gone. Not quite the happy ending to the album/story that everyone wants to hear. She's still gone and he wants her back. She still isn't back by It's Just Me. |

| Good song. But I believe it's "So why so long?" not "So wide, so long." | |
| Blue October – 18th Floor Balcony Lyrics | 19 years ago |

"Could you make it snow?" could be from the "Argue With A Tree..." DVD, where Justin leaves out the second-last chorus and sings "Ryan, make it snow," after the last chorus (fake snow then descends from the ceiling as Ryan plays the violin to the end of the song and the concert). This is a great song. It conveys hope for the future, as Justin has found love again after so long. |
