Yeah, this is one of the best songs on the new album. Great stuff.
It's really about getting caught up in the idea that you have to have money and fame to be somebody worthwhile, only to find that the things you really wanted you left behind. It's quite similar to Homecoming Queen, like the last guy said. It's like the male version of that story. |

I could see this song being about a sudden tragedy happening to someone, such as a natural disaster or a massive mistake, and the other person singing the song tries to talk you (or rather sing you) out of it. For anyone that's had to deal with one of those, you know just how much you feel like you want to give up and kill yourself. But then your friend reminds you "It's never too late." Fantastic song. |
