To me the song is about a young relationship that simply went wrong. It wasn't really anyone's fault but the relationship just became unhealthy. Maybe one person struggled than the other in their life, personal problems that became too much and entered the relationship, helping to slowly break apart what was there. When you're young you tend to think that loving someone can save you both, but it almost never works and all you are left with is the memories of one another. |

I love this song, the lead singer has this crazy voice that I find quite mesmerizing.
I think that is song is abuot a relationship that is like a drug, it's addicting, it's bad for you, but you can't stop. You can hide from the truth, you can leave each other, cheat on one another, do anything to hurt the other, but you still can't get enough of that other person. It's something that can't really be described, though.
I really like glindathegood's explanation, I never thought of this song that way, but it seems like a really cool interpretation...I guess I can see this song in many ways. Either way, I love this song, I always 'push my love away' and I am slowly learning not to, this song helps. |

I read an article recently that had mentioned E's sister commited suicide before this album was made. So I definitly think this is a song about a girl who wants to commit suicide but E is asking her not to. I don't know if this is about his sister or just a song or something else entirely, but they seem to go with one another.

I never would have thought that Jason Schwartzman would put out music, but he did and I love it! It is calm in a fun way (if that makes sense). This is my favorite of the songs because I absolutley love the West Coast! I think that this song is pretty straight forward though. He has been away from his home and his girlfriend for a really long time (probably filming a movie) and is ready to go home, he is preparing to go back into her arms. And then the song transfers a little bit to when he is home and is getting ready to leave which is why he wrote, "I wish you woulda put yourself in my suitcase" The simplicity of the song is what makes it so amazing, I sing it all day long! |

The images that come to mind when I hear this song, is of a man at a meeting, like an AA meeting or something like, it is his first time, he is nervous and pretty uncomfortable, having to admit he has a problem is really frightening to him. But then he looks around and sees a pretty girl sitting there, alone, as well. And to calm himself down he creates a little fantasy about her. Again, this is just what I see upon listening, but the meaning is probably somewhere along the lines of having admit something and the fear of accepting your own words. |

Aren't we all scared deep down inside? I love how this song goes from fairly upbeat to this somber mood when the chorus takes place, it is a great mixture of emotion in everway.
It definitly seems like he is singing about a girl who he is probably in a relationship with (or attempting to be in) but she has so many reservations that it is making things difficult, Albert could have wrote this song as a lullaby of sorts, to calm her nerves and put her at ease. But I think it can basically speak to all of humnaity as well with the overwhelmingly perfect lyrics:

This is one of the most amazing, perfect, songs I have heard in a long time. When I first found The Honorary Title, I was blown away, Jarrod has such strong vocals that basically give me chills every time I listen, and his lyrics are pure genius. And 'Cats In Heat' to me, feels like someone knows that their relationship just isn't working, but is addicted to the person, and doesn't want it to end. That if he hopes hard enough, things will be alright. |
