I think she is in love and pretends not to be. And acts like whatever he does doesn't hurt or affect her in order to protect herself from her true feelings for him. She even shrugs off the fact that she was ever in love with him, saying how she was just in love with the thought of someone loving her. "Giving up her wings they were only wax and string" I think is about how she see's him as her angel or savior, but it was all in her head and it wasn't real in the end.
