i definately believe this song is about a guy that can't get over his ex. he has his new girlfriend but then he begins to wonder if he could find a better one? come on. i think it's a good message to the guys, cos she won't keep on waiting for you to figure it out. for it is not hard for a woman to find another guy. easy stuff for us. and i think when he says, 'the hardest thing and the right thing are the same' he is saying to just break up with her. if you are even questioning if she is the right one or if there is something better, you need to do the right thing. cos thats not cool. and yeah maybe you will be wrong and will seriously regret it, but the hardest thing usually is the right thing. you can't have yer cake and eat it too, or something like that. this song pisses me off, yet i love it. it could definately work both ways, for guys and girls, i just think he is speaking about guys cos the use of pronouns. |

this song reminds me of my sister. i think she is just in the relationship she is currently in because she is afraid to be alone. and she had been with him so long and she wouldn't know what to do without him. she is so damn dependent. i know my sister won't end up alone, she is a beautiful amazing woman, she just needs to ditch the loser. but i definately don't know how to get her out of this one. i love this song. it was beautiful live in vegas. |

why is this song so damn beautiful? i heard it live in vegas last saturday. it was really the only song i HAD to hear (besides heaven forbid). my boyfriend went to go get us beers and it came on and i started to panic. i tried to call him to tell him to get his ass back here, but he was already running up the stairs (no beers in hand but that didn't matter). we slow danced and sang it. it was pretty beautiful. |

taking my own experiences into consideration i think this song is about a really shitty ex-bf. "you look like shit, whats yer problem bitch? yer legs feel like sandpaper, you can't do anything right." maybe those words weren't exactly spoken to her, but i think that whomever treated her like this might as well have said this hurtful stuff. and in the end when she says, "i hope one day you call up your father and have the guts to tell him how he hurt you and how he made you, hurt another. cos it makes me sad." i think that she blames the father of the asshole, cos yea, we all know history repeats itself. and i believe strongly in nurture.. as opposed to nature. i've seen this stuff. |

i love this song. i love all her lyrics and how complicated they are. carnivoirous vegitarian?? that makes me giggle. we will always lose a piece of ourselves to a contridiction.

i don't exactly know what this song means to tori, but i get the impression that she hasn't had the greatest luck with men.. maybe? she only sleeps with butterflies? that could possibly mean she sleeps with someone and then in the morning they leave.. i dunno.. but i can relate to this song. at times i feel like i'm lost and i don't really know what i'm doing in life. i feel like i've been through a lot and i don't exactly have my act together quite yet. but i know the true beauty i posses and in the end i definately think i'm worth coming home to. there's more to a person than school and work and success. much more. |

it's incredibly hard to pick my favorite dave matthews song, but if i HAD to choose, Dreaming Tree would be it. the verse "from the start/she knew she had it made" really gives me the chills. my father drowned when i was 17, and after that i really hit a low point in my life. he really was where i got my drive to do good in life and school. that verse kills me softly man. |
