I love the lines "Freeze / Or make it forever", as they sum the whole thing up. It is apparently not something she can get involved with, so it's all or nothing at that point, as it isn't something she could live with being just a one-time thing (possibly because she's with someone else, and she doesn't want to end that unless she knows she can be with whoever the song is about). Aside from that, I have a lot of fun just singing the "la la la la la la la la it's all your fault" part whenever it feels appropriate ;) |

Definately a family christmas, and possibly the only christmas song I've ever heard that actually captures the feeling of a realistic christmas celebration instead of going all 'white snow happy yay'. I'd agree that it feels very short. It is three full minutes, but it feels like it doesn't last very long. Which only adds to the song, I suppose. |

This song always makes me think of a car crash, for some reason, both of them bleeding to death together. I hardly think that's what the song is about, nor do I think it's about suicide or any other kind of literal dying. Rather, I think it's about the falling out of love, a calm yet still sad breakup where they both just realize that it's best to move on. An absolutely lovely song either way, especially the instrumental part right after the first "In this moment of tranquility / I realize / this is goodbye". |

To me this is about the inevitable end of all life, and the futility of everything, but with an interesting twist: "Who are we to judge what is right and what has purpose for us?". Without a God or divine moral there can be no meaning of life, as there is no one and nothing to give it such a meaning, but that also means that there isn't anyone or anything who has the right to say that it's meaningless either. If you don't consider yourself 'worthy' of deciding for yourself what the meaning of life is, then how can you be 'worthy' to say that it has no meaning? I have no idea if that was what the song was supposed to say, and I'm probably reading a bit much into so few lines, but it does add a bit of hope to the scientific inevitability of the end of everything. That even if there is no meaning and no matter what we do it will be undone and forgotten eventually, at least no one can truthfully say that what we did was for nothing. Either way, it's an amazing song, and one I never get tired of listening to. |

I find his voice a bit too whiny in this song, but I like the lyrics anyway: "It doesn't matter / if you hold me tight / No one will remember / in a hundred years" The song is depressing and somewhat hopeful at the same time, which concidering the lyrics seems to be just the way it was intended. |

It's a pretty lousy translation of the Swedish version, in my opinion. The chorus - which originally tied the scrambled lyrics together - is strangely the worst part of the English version, leaving the rest of the song as incoherent rambling. I can't really say that I like the song all that much in either language, but at least from the Swedish lyrics it's seemingly about having a lot of material things, but not having anything that you really want or know what to do with. It's a bit like someone saying the old "Whoever has the most things when he dies, wins", and then this song coming along and asking "And then what?". |

Aside from a few lines the English version is very different from the Swedish version, which seems like a fairly straight-forward (yet lovely) description of an airplane crash: "and as panic breaks out / you smile faintly / and whisper to me / 'You are worth dying for' / but against rubber, glass, and metal / a miracle means nothing at all." The English version seems to not be aircraft related at all though, as the only clearly airplane-related part, "The fully air conditioned sound of speed " - which, with the exception of "silence", is the only line that's the same in the Swedish version - refers to a cab in the Swedish version. The song seems to me to be more about trying to leave someone or something, but to keep coming back ("Maybe tomorrow it won´t be here"), only to face the same things that made you leave, and each time you leave you're hoping that this time you'll be able to stay away permanently ("Maybe this time it won´t heal / Maybe this time it will bleed untill I´m free"). While they sound a bit suicidal, I'd say the last two lines are more about getting over something than killing yourself. It wouldn't be the first time Kent used the 'bleed to death' metaphor for emotional pain (it's used in Kevlarsjäl, for example). And in case anyone is amused by such trivia, the track is 7:47 long on the album. |

I wouldn't say the songs are about death, but rather about endings, and at times about the new beginnings that follow them. The themes get a bit repetitive and depressing at times, but the music is still good. As for this particular song, it's one of very few where I like the English version better, at least when it comes to the lyrics. To me this song seems to be about seeing a chance and taking it; believing in yourself and chasing your dream (in this case him quitting his job to make music.) Och lägg ner diskussionen om Kalle. |

For me this version just can't compare to the Swedish version, sadly. The English version just feels less, well, touching. Rough translation of the chorus from the Swedish version: "As long as my heart still beats I'll remember you when You pierced a hole through my kevlar soul And you became my wound and I'm bleeding to death Come, make a hole in my kevlar soul" The English lyrics are - as always with Kent - quite different though, and in this case the whole 'hope' part of the song seems to have been lost: As far as I can tell the song is about him shutting people out so as to not get hurt ("my kevlar soul"), but this girl still managed to get close to him ("She put a hole, through my kevlar soul", "My land is your land we are free"), and after the pain of their eventual breakup ("and my heart slowly dies / It gets lonely and cold") he shuts himself again ("My land is my land only mine"), but he's still grateful to have met her (this is the part that seems to be missing from the English version, but check the Swedish chorus). I don't see how this would really have anything to do with racism though. |
