The spider songs sort of remind me of some of sufjan stevens stuff. I hope I don't get verbally abused for that comment.. |

Oh man I so not disappointed with this album, in particular, this song.
I love how he says "I'm still TECHNICALLY a vigrin.." and raises his voice there. |

I always find, that because the vocals are so beautiful, that the first part is very frustrating. But when he sings "And I have a Sister...".. it sort of melts. |

| Kings of Convenience – I'd Rather Dance With You Lyrics

What does this song mean to you?
It means, forget about talking, and anything that might cause a negative reaction, and just dance, because that is a better way of knowing someone.
How ironic that it also makes me want to dance. Alot. |

Hmm I dont really think there is one way of interpretting this song, just because there are so many things that are ture, that are fucked that this can be related to. It seems like its about someone who just feels like hes been rejected for something.. and is taking it rather bitterly. This was a crap comment.. but so far only 2 other people have said anything on here. So yeah. |

Hmm I had to make a new account to comment on this song, and sadly, it may be another relationship interpretation. Here goes:
I think that the first verse is a sort of scene set for something that may have happened, and explains the rest of songs relevance .This verse seems to me like two people have reached a critical point in their relationship, where one still, or thinks they still, continue feelings, and the other knows it is over. This is such an emotional blow to the person who is trying to hang on , that he basically refused to acknowledge or recognize what is happening, and his mind is just wandering to whatever is around him, taking in anything else.
The second verse is telling about how he maybe wishes that the break up had not been so messy and wishes he had done something to still continue being friends. He wants to visit this person, but is trying to make it clear that he is not trying to start their romantic relationship again and he doesnt want to scare her off . He is just visiting, catching up and will not be staying.
"You seem you out of context.." etc Is talking about how different this person may have been when she was with him, and how she may have changed over time since they broke up. This also brings the realization that they were in a trapped relationship and both needed to sort of.. grow. He knows that if she hadnt left him, that they would both be unhappy. She has done them a favour and there are no regrets now.
D.C Sleeps alone tonight.. This doesnt make me think of D.C, but of how tonight, this person can sleep without the burden of doubt that has kept him company
The last verse makes me think of peace, in the fact that it is so late that all the lights are out. It is a bittersweet stanza. He is lonely, but not so unhappy or bitter.
Oh god.. that was such an incredibly lame take on such an incredibly awesome song.. I hope you postal service fans can forgive me.. |
