Black Shoes Lyrics

Black shoes, tie and overcoat
Head full of lines and don't you know
I can see
You coming from a mile
He's looking for another taste
But I'm gunna put him in his place
With charming grace
Elegance and style

So think about it first
Before you make it worse
'cuz it's about to get a whole lot harder
And if it all works out
There won't be a doubt at all
You're heading for the boiling water

He's got his mother on his side
Up to his neck in selfish pride
It's causing him
A lot more than he knows
He's looking for another fight
I hope he knows we that we just might take him for
Everything he owns

So, so think about it first
Before you make it worse
‘cuz its about to get a whole lot harder
And if it all works out
There won't be a doubt
At all
We're heading for the boiling water

la la la la

So think about it first
Before you make it worse
‘cuz it's about to get a whole lot harder
And if it all works out
There won't be a doubt
At all
We're heading for the boiling water

Aside from the obvious interpretation, I think this song is what the world is coming to when everyones head is filled with "selfish pride", and how people are so afraid of losing everyday, petty things, we may forget we're losing the greatest thing of all: ourselves. The fight hes taking about is a fight between humbleness and vanity. When he says

"And if it all works out, There won't be a doubt at all You're heading for the boiling water" He means if he overcomes the other guy who represents the greed and vanity of the world, there could be a positive outcome for everyone. But if in the worst case scenario if the other guy wins, he instead says"we're heading for the boiling water" as in everyone and everything, good and evil.
