| Fort Minor – Remember The Name Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| I heard this song on the radio the other day, and I found it ridiculous. It's like the singer was telling a Chuck Norris joke, except more self-congratulatory and with no punch line. | |
| Peter Schilling – Major Tom (Coming Home) Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Not everything is about drugs. | |
| Halestorm – Love Bites (So Do I) Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Though I like the song and think it's catchy, it does make the singer seem pretty pathetic, IMO. Like she's desperate to get some other girl's leftovers. | |
| Utada Hikaru – Sanctuary ~Opening Version~ Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I think maybe I'm the only one who prefers the English lyrics. I think it's more romantic. There's something beautiful about the line "in you and I, there's a new land." Two people join together and "become one." They have children together and make a new generation, a new land. That line won me over from the beginning. I also like how she thinks of her loved one as her sanctuary, who she can be herself with. When they're together, their troubles melt away. | |
| Utada Hikaru – Sanctuary ~Opening Version~ Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| It's not meant to be a translation. | |
| Utada Hikaru – Sanctuary ~Opening Version~ Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I like both. I love the lyrics of the English version, and the Japanese version is beautiful too. You like the Japanese version? Great. That doesn't mean the English version is bad. And the lyrics make complete sense if you take a minute to actually, you know, read them instead of going "NOPE JAPANESE IS BEST." | |
| Utada Hikaru – Simple And Clean Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
In response to the above, I don't think she was too demanding at all. Maybe the guy THINKS she's too demanding, but in reality I think he's the one who is making things overly complicated. "You're giving me too many things" - he's showering her with presents, but all she wants is to be with him. "Don't get me wrong, I love you, but does that mean I have to meet your father?" She's just enjoying being with him, but he's already worrying about things like meeting her dad instead of enjoying her company too. In his mind, you meet someone, you pursue a relationship, you meet their parents and then marriage, but as she says life isn't that simple. But because she doesn't want presents and she's not worrying about him meeting her dad, he doesn't know how to prove his love for her. He thinks she's being demanding and that she wants him to walk on water, but that's not it. But in asking her these questions, he's not really proving his love for her at all, just worrying, so she says "it's enough when I say so." "Hold me Whatever lies beyond this morning Is a little later on Regardless of warnings the future doesn't scare me at all Nothing's like before " Again, she's not worried about what's in store for them later (whereas he probably is.) She's just happy in the moment and wants to be held. |

| Owl City – Fireflies Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Anyone who uses "tis" deserves to be punched hard and often. | |
| Mudvayne – Fall Into Sleep Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
I tend to think that this song is about a soldier who's dying. Dreams of hurricanes, tidal waves, ect.. it could be an analogy for war, or just general horrors that humans have to go through. The next two verses are what makes me think it's about a soldier. "Dreams of guns blazed Dreams of fire rage Dreams of swollen graves Dreams of hollow pain All gone No more fallen No more enemies No more casualties No more dreams" All gone because he's been mortally wounded, and once he dies, there will be no more dreams, and he won't have to worry about any of those things anymore. Dreams of mourning grief Dreams of disbelief Dreams of tragedy Dreams of our disease (to take us all away) Dreams of fidelity Dreams of inner peace Dreams of loyalty Dreams of unity All gone All gone Same concept for this one. Dreams of fidelity and loyalty seem like military ideals (be loyal to your country and faithful towards your comrades.) Dreams of peace and unity and inner peace is what he was fighting for. |

| Coldplay – Fix You Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I hate this song! I hate it so much. Maybe I'm being a bit unfair, because the only time I ever hear this song is at work, where it's noisy and the store speakers aren't that powerful, but I just cannot stand it. Hearing his whiny, falsetto voice over the PA speakers drives me crazy. My friend and I always joke that this is the naptime song because it's just so blah. | |
| The Pussycat Dolls – Don't Cha Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I agree. This song isn't encouraging cheating. In fact, it's somewhat doing the opposite, and the woman singing actually seems very sympathetic to the girlfriend. And this line is wrong "It just aint enough to leave my happy home." It's "It just aint enough to leave a happy home" which may not seem like a huge difference, but I think she's discouraging him from leaving HIS happy home, not her's. He might want her and wish that his girlfriend was hot like her (and all that other stuff) and she knows that he feels that way. But she also knows he doesn't love her and so she doesn't want to break him up with his girlfriend. She wants to keep it friendly and play fair. So yeah, I don't exactly see that this song is about a homewrecker who comes to seduce the innocent guy or whatever else these other commenters are saying the song is about. | |
| KoЯn – Let's Get This Party Started Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I like this song, don't get me wrong, but for some reason the "which I did to you" part sounds extremely awkward to me. Like they didn't know what else to put there to make it sound good. | |
| Ne-Yo – Closer Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
How doesn't that make sense, Lorilie11? Stars usually shine at night in the darkness. And he's comparing her to a star. He doesn't mean she's literally going to shine, it's a metaphor. Anyway, I love this song. It's so seductive. |
|
| Mudvayne – Forget To Remember Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I like the whole song, but this line "We grow up to give up." is the best line in the whole song, in my opinion. It's so true. As kids, we're so full of hopes and dreams, and then society slowly breaks us. Eventually, if you're like most people, you become a wage slave, giving up 8 hours of your life 5 days a week. It hurts. Some people call it "character building" but I call it soul crushing. But what other choice do we have? If we don't slave away, we lose our right to eat and to have shelter. So even though this is probably wrong, I always interpreted this song as about the inner child in people. "What have I become? When I turned my back on you I turned my back on myself. And became this machine." What have you become as an adult? A machine scraping through life. "Still feel you on the inside, biting thorugh and stinging. Will I ever forget to remember?" Maybe the memory of happier days also brings sadness, and so it would be better to forget them. Like I said, it's probably not the interpretation most people have, but that's how I see it. |
|
| Eels – My Beloved Monster Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
My interpretation of the song is that it's about a girl the singer is going out with, who might not be accepted by everyone because of her assertive personality. ("If she wants, she will disrobe you") That's why she's his beloved "monster." But she also has a softer side that only he sees. I'm not saying there aren't any songs that have been written about drugs. I've listened to and enjoyed some songs about drugs. What I'm sick of is the unimaginative morons on this site saying "this song is about drugs!" about every single song, when clearly in many cases, it's not. |
|
| Katy Perry – I Kissed a Girl Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I'm just offended by her attention whoring. She admitted in an interview that she's never kissed a girl. She just wants more guys to drool over her. I really can't stand her. If you're going to sing about kissing a girl, at least, you know, KISS A GIRL. | |
| Katy Perry – Ur So Gay Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Wah wah. She picked a guy that acted like that (probably because she thought he was hot) and then when he dumped her, she whines about it. | |
| Katy Perry – I Kissed a Girl Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| The song is okay, but the video is extremely irritating. It's a song about girls kissing...and yet there's not one kiss to be had. I'm not saying this in a "oh, girls kissing is hott!" way, because that doesn't turn me on, but it still bothers me. Shouldn't there be one shot of her, you know, kissing a girl? Obviously the singer does not enjoy kissing girls, and made sure to add many references to her boyfriend. She's just a sell out trying to be edgy. And she's also trying way too hard to be hot. You know the only reason she sang a song about kissing a girl is to get the guys' attention. Because you know, lesbians only exist to be a fantasy for men. | |
| Eels – My Beloved Monster Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Bah, everything on this site somehow magically morphs into a song about drugs. If you read this site long enough you'll start thinking there's no other meaning to any song, ever. How is this song a sad song about depression or drugs? If you lay drugs down for a kiss, it's heart will explode? ...Right then. | |
| Tata Young – Sexy, Naughty, Bitchy Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
"How much would it cost to have this cretinous whore removed from the public domain? " Haha, that's exactly the point the song is trying to prove. How dare a woman enjoy having sex! |
|
| Carrie Underwood – Before He Cheats Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Well, I'm sure I'll be seeing news of your arrests soon, thrwmyhrtawy and bluerosedangel. :) | |
| OceanLab – Satellite Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I get sick of people thinking every single song ever created is about drugs. Newsflash: There's more to life than drugs! And people write songs about things other than drugs too! Don't get me wrong, I don't mind songs that are about drugs, but come on. Anyway, I love this song. |
|
| Toad the Wet Sprocket – Hold Her Down Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Disturbingly enough, the first time I ever heard this song was on a kid's music program, either on Nickelodean, or PBS or something like that. I was shocked when I heard the lyrics (they did bleep out the f word) but what were they thinking? I did like the song though, even though I didn't know what it was, so I did a lyric search to find it. | |
| Meredith Brooks – Bitch Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I remember when I was younger, this song would come on while I was in the car with my dad. (I was around 8 or 9 at the time.) I would get so embarrassed because she said the word "bitch". Haha. I love the song now though! | |
| Miss Jane – It's A Fine Day Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I heard the original (the one with the "we were going to sit in this field") and that song is CREEPY. I like it, but it scares me. This one is a bit more upbeat. | |
| Nine Inch Nails – The Perfect Drug Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I love this line: "I shouldn't go, but you're wrenching, dragging, shaking me." That makes the song for me. It's so powerful, I like the image that evokes. I also like "Turn off the sun, pull the stars from the sky" for similar reasons. Smoke, I have to say that your interpretation greatly improved my enjoyment of the song. Before I thought of the song as about a girl, but that interpretation is so boring. (I hate when singers sing to/about girls. It's so over done. And I'm saying this as a girl myself.) Great job! |
|
| My Ruin – HORRIBLE PAIN (within my heart) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
The first thing that sprung to mind when I heard this song was Harley Quinn from Batman. Anyway, I have a love-hate relationship with this song. I like the lyrics, but the way the girl speaks is annoying. She's trying too hard to sound sexy. I also don't like the end. "I guess I know he could never really chop off my hands." Huh? Where did that come from? |
|
| Evanescence – Lies Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I like this song and all, but I'd never be able to understand what they were singing if I didn't look at the lyrics! The first time I listened to it, it was like listening to the grown-ups from Charlie Brown singing (albeit in prettier voices.) I've listened to this song many times now and even though I know the lyrics, it's still hard to hear sometimes. |
|
| Carrie Underwood – Before He Cheats Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I'd say carving your name into the seat IS good evidence. If I was on a jury it would be enough for me to find her guilty. Plus who's to say there weren't security cameras in the parking lot? (Yes I know I'm overthinking the song.) Anyway, the only other thing I can say about this song is no wonder that guy cheated her. |
|
| Gorillaz – Clint Eastwood Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I think this line: "Hearable What appears in you is a clearer view cos you're too crazy" is wrong. To me it sounds like "Hero who appears in you to clear you cause you're too crazy." Not "hearable" |
|
| A Perfect Circle – Rose Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I actually always had a different interpretation of the ending than most people here, it seems. The song starts off with fire. The singer isn't going to take the bs anymore. And even towards the end when he's declaring he won't be a matyr anymore. But then at the very end when he sings "I rose. I roared. I will. I will..." the way he trails off seems a little desperate, like he's struggling to hold onto his resolve but is fighting a losing battle. The sad music at the end seems to imply, to me at least, that he's fallen back into old habits. Just my opinion, though. |
|
| Carrie Underwood – Before He Cheats Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I hate this song. In my opinion, vandalizing someone's car doesn't empower you, no matter what the other person did to you. It makes you just as much an asshole as the other person. And as someone else said, would people like this song nearly as much if it were a guy singing about ruining his cheating girlfriend's car? I don't think so. (And before you start whining, yes, I'm a woman too.) The only satisfaction I get from this song is the fact that she said she carved her name into his leather seats. At least she provided him with proof of who did it for when he calls the authorities and gets her ass arrested. |
|
| Dean Martin – That's Amore Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| My friend has karaoke Revolution, and we always play it when she has parties. This is one of the songs on the game. Normally everyone sings their song along, but whenever anyone picks this song everyone at the party always has to sing along, which is hilarous since sometimes they're drunk. | |
| Garbage – #1 Crush Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
This song always makes me think of Harley Quinn from Batman. She went from being a respectable professional to being the Joker's henchwoman, killing and stealing and letting him abuse her all because of her obsessive love for him. Yes I know I'm a big nerd... |
|
| They Might Be Giants – Istanbul (Not Constantinople) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I like this song! But it always makes me think of FF7... | |
| Billy Joel – Piano Man Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| It's funny to hear a bunch of drunk people singing this song on kareoke night. | |
| Counting Crows – Colorblind Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
When I was younger, I used to like this song a lot. Now that I've gotten a little older though, I can hardly stand to hear it. Tastes change, I guess. |
|
| Sonic The Hedgehog – Supporting Me Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This is a pretty song. I'm pretty sure it's about Shadow, but it could also apply to anyone who did things in their life that they weren't proud of and now they want to change their ways. | |
| Goldfrapp – Strict Machine Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think the background bass is interesting, because it actually does sound like electric. Not those silly "bzzt!" sound effects...but when you're just sitting around in a building quietly. It sounds like the white noise a radiator or air conditioner might create. | |
| Hilary Duff – Fly Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think it's funny that people who come here to whine about how much they hate this song accuse the people of liking it to be wannabe trend followers. Look who's talking! It's trendy and cool to dislike Hillary Duff and to only like certain types of music. The only reason they look up the lyrics and insult the people who like it is because they want to show off how they're so awesome and they know what REAL music is. Hah. There's no such thing as real music, because everyone will have different definitions, based on what they like. | |
| Rammstein – Spiel Mit Mir (English) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I don't think it's about a brother and a sister, because the person singing it is male. If he wanted to make it a song about a brother and sister relationship, wouldn't it make more sense for him to make the person he's singing to his sister? If that's what he's going for, the lyrics are way too unclear. Anyway, I love this song. I think it's awesome. |
|
| Incubus – Wish You Were Here Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This is one of my absolute favorite songs, but I don't listen to it very often. I only listen to it in the summer, on sunny days, and even then I might not play it. Usually songs I own lose some of their impact, at least to me, because I listen to them so often. But this song is special, and I want it to always remain special. It's beautiful and simple. | |
| O-Zone – Dragostea Din Tei Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I like the Romanian version better. "Hello, it's me your Duke" just sounds weird... | |
| Ashlee Simpson – Pieces Of Me Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
"the general public are musically illiterate and don't know the elements that make up good music" Wow. Aren't you a presumptuous, self-important moron? What makes up "good music" to you doesn't necessarily make up "good music" for someone else. It's a matter of personal taste, and just because you like something doesn't make it right. |
|
| Mercury Rev – Secret For A Song Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I heard this song on a car commercial, so I decided to get it. It's a very pretty song, though I'm not sure what it's about. | |
| A Perfect Circle – Sleeping Beauty Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Okay, well it's been a few weeks since I wrote my last comment, and as I thought, the song did grow on me. I like it more each time I listen to it. It's a good song. | |
| A Perfect Circle – Sleeping Beauty Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I've tried to like this song, but I really don't like the music to it. It sounds off, somehow. Maybe it'll grow on me as I listen to it more, though. The lyrics are good. I think this song is about someone who has become bad, and even though you try to help them get back on a positive path, there's no helping them. Just my take on it, of course. |
|
| A Perfect Circle – Weak And Powerless Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| "Little angel go away, come again some other day, the devil's got my ear today" is my favorite line in the song. I like the whole song, but those are the lyrics that make me love it. | |
| Spice Girls – Naked Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| This song is fun to search for on a share program. | |
| Gwen Stefani – Rich Girl Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I really like this song. Even though I enjoy theater and musicals, Fiddler on the Roof was pretty boring in my opinion, so this is an improvement on one of their songs. This song has some good memories for me. Whenever I go out with my friends and this song comes on, we all end up belting it out really badly. I think this song has a positive message to it. |
