Although this song can be taken sexually, it really is just speaking of how throughout her life, this woman is able to see people for who they are, and only show them the true her. She strips them of their outer selves and can see what's beyond their looks.
In the phonecall, however, it speaks of how both she and the man can see each other for who they are, and although she can barely resist his looks (hence the "I keep seeing such a pretty picture") she refuses to change who she is for this person who just plainly isn't worth it. This song, just plainly, rocks

I think it's about a girl who was sexually abused as a child and has now found love, but the guy, knowing about her childhood, is scared.

"Naivety and childhood left behind. Deprived the goodness of mankind. Past encounters, have made her strong. Strong enough, to carry on and on."

The whole song sort of says that, I think. She's saying, "Yeah I've been through a lot. But don't be scared, I opened up to you, I trust you."

Roccer, you should really go outside more. If you hate Spice Girls so much, why are you looking at their lyrics? Why a song called Naked? There are only two possible conclusions. 1) You secretely love them, 2) You're a peeeeerveeeeert.

Yeah, I think the song is about a girl that was abused, either as a chiild, or by the guy she is currently seeing only she doesn't really know this guy is hurting and/or using her. For a Spice Girls song, it's really really good!! That's why in the phone conversation she's finally getting that he's using and manipulating her. I really like this song

Ive been listening to this song for a long time. But im only now really listening to the lyrics. LOL I decided what I think it means. First verse I think its about a young woman who was sexually abused as a child and now as an adult shes become strong and yet she still tries to receive love and affection through sexual encounters with men. Since growing up that's all she new- was sex to get attention, she thinks that as an adult she'll find love through her sexual encounters. Chorus At this time she feels her strength is through sex and yet even though this is what shes used to, she still feels like a part of her is missing and she feels ashamed. Second verse Shes good at sex and knows what she can do to please a man, so she thinks that being and doing what they want sexually will make them love her more.Her sense of power comes from knowing how a man ticks Bridge(phone conversation) Shes realizing that her choices with men are mistakes and that sex isn't going to give her that happy ending shes always wanted. As soon as they get what they want from her, they take a hike. And they also judge her for being so easy and sexual. Its ok to be sexual if you want to, she just wants to be herself, but men take advantage of her and she's left hurt again. after many tears she realizes that shes never gonna open herself up to some fool ever again, shes gonna keep moving on. And thus by the end of the song shes found herself, through confidence and strength. Shes come into her own sexually and as a woman. GIRL POWER!!!- She WANTS to get naked- for her own pleasure and no longer just for trying to win the affection of a man!!!!

I think this song is more metaphorical than some of you seem to believe. I believe this song is about a girl who was abused somehow although not necessarily in a sexual way. She has grown up to believe there's more evil in people then what's on the surface; essentially, she sees people for who (she thinks) they really are.

She's given up on what she probably believes to be a naive "childhood-like" optimism, and instead feels lost. Although she keeps managing to carry on time and again, she can't help but feel her life is spiraling into a world ruled by her own inner demons. However, her childhood likely wasn't all bad; she seems to wish she could just go back to being a little girl, and tries desperately to hold on to what she had before.

Because she's had these issues her whole life, she's had to force herself to think of them as "normal". She's learned it's better to hide these issues, giving the false appearance of strength, presumably out of fear of rejection; when people learn more about her issues, they reject her. Thus, she's perpetually forced to keep her cool (at least in appearance), or risk being an outcast.

However, what she really wants is someone to emotionally "hide" behind. Thus, she's "seeking" someone who will make her troubles go away. I believe the phone call is a prime example of this: if the occasion arrives, in which she finally starts to trust someone enough to tell him/her about her life, and that someone turns on her, she attempts to put on a tough-girl act, claiming she'd rather be hated than pitied.

Even the people who wrote this song with the girls knew it was quite a bit darker than the Spice Girls\' usual bubblegum pop that was very simple or meaningless. When I actually read the lyrics, I started to realize that it sounded a lot like the "child" or woman definitely had some abuse previously - maybe she was sexually abused, or maybe she was just coerced and agreed before she was ready, and so she\'s shown more of herself than she really would have wanted.\n\nAnd the saddest part is, now she\'s put herself into a position where she continues to do so. Once you agree to expose yourself to someone once, how are you to stop when someone else asks you to do it? She\'s basically been caught between being a slut, or if she says no once, she\'s suddenly a prude. Her only way is to not expose her emotions, and hope they do, because then they\'ll be more exposed than she is.
