You're so damn lucky you got to see that, saintdanger. I could only imagine how sweet that was.

Green Day – Longview Lyrics 20 years ago
Also, I think it's just amazing how Green Day and their songs in general are all just different emotions, but they put those emotions so perfectly into songs. Almost any emotion you've had or had, there's a Green Day song for it; I can guarantee you.

To what "zealotbleeds" said: To many people, yes, Green Day IS the best band ever. Everyone has different opinions. There is no definitive "best band" because everyone has their own views and likes. Whoever you may think is the best band ever in your opinion isn't the same as other people's.

The Doors – Moonlight Drive Lyrics 20 years ago
As others have said, one of my favorite songs by The Doors. Such a beautiful song. Why did all the great music legends have to die? Maybe they could have saved us from all this shit music today hadn't they passed away instead of only the real music lovers just having to reminisce about them.

Mos Def – Rock N Roll Lyrics 20 years ago
Oh, I'll start a fight alright. What the fuck is this guy going on about saying "YOU MAY DIG ON THE ROLLING STONES
BUT EVERYTHING THEY DID THEY STOLE" ? That "punk ass" Mos Def has no room whatsoever to say any shit like that, for ANY of the musicians he mentions. He's dissing them, and why? Because they're white. Yeah, like that's not racist at all. Well he can just keep telling himself that he's rock and roll; I'll just be sitting here laughing at his ill attempt to be.

The Rolling Stones – Paint It Black Lyrics 20 years ago
I think a very simple meaning for this one is that there was a loss of a loved one, so they're very depressed (black being the color of depression) and they see all these happy things (colorful things, pertaining to the color theme) but they can only think of the sadness and want everything to be that way as well and don't want anyone or anything to be happy if they aren't.

One of my favorite songs by them, easily.

I agree with what bmrhye said before as well.
"It's only rock n' roll, but I like it"

The Rolling Stones – Start Me Up Lyrics 20 years ago
Yeah, why the hell aren't there more comments for this song?? I expected like 200+ comments. Well, screw that. Anyway, I think it can be relating to a car, but probably purposely meant to sound like it's relating to sex. Whichever way it's still one hell of a good song.

Led Zeppelin – Stairway to Heaven Lyrics 20 years ago
I believe what someone said at the very beginning of this was a very good theory. It's the two paths: heaven or hell. Played normally, its like the path of heaven, but backwards its the path of hell. At least that's how I see it now and makes sense to me. I don't know of any other song that is that well understandable played backwards, so I think it's got to have been planned... somehow. Well, however those geniuses called Led Zeppelin did it, it's an amazing song to me.

The Network – Love And Money Lyrics 20 years ago
You go all out "and then you crack". You waste your "love and money" on what seems to be pointless things. And it's sung by Mike, yay. :)

The Network – Hungry Hungry Lyrics 20 years ago
Kinda simple; anorexic models want food and our society these days is so bent on people having to be skinny. And I believe it's sung by Tre aka The Snoo... in one of his weird voices.

The Network – Roshambo Lyrics 20 years ago
Geez, going back to what I said before (sorry I can't shut the hell up about this, but bear with me) but it's just so amazing how Billie can write in so many different ways and it'll still come out being great. He's so metaphorical and he'll make you think. God, PEOPLE NEED TO REALIZE HOW GREAT GREEN DAY IS! Ahem, okay, no more ranting. =]

The Network – Roshambo Lyrics 20 years ago
Oh right, the song... well, seems like a love song to me. Like he's kind of saying, "forget the rest of this shit, all I need is you". Very sweet, yet twisted in The Network sort of way. :)

The Network – Roshambo Lyrics 20 years ago
I agree with what whatshername said. It amazes me too. It's sad more people don't take the time to really look at their lyrics. If people did, I can guarantee you they would have a massive amount of fans. (even more than they do now) I hope more people realize just how great hey are in the future. If not, I'm going to have to conform the damn world to love Green Day. Haha, okay, not that drastic.

The Network – Spike Lyrics 20 years ago
Billie Joe is Fink, Mike is Van Gough, Tre is The Snoo, and no one is sure quite yet who the other two are though. Some say Devo members, but I say it's Jason White (their 2nd guitarist that tours with them) and Jason Freese (their trumpet player that tours with them). I've seen a lot more pictures and it does seem to look like the Jasons more and more. But anyway, this song is pretty easy to understand: a kid moves away from this family, tries to live on his own, doesn't work out, his girlfriend leaves him, he goes crawling back to his family, and all throughout this he's trying to get some drugs. Quite a funny song.

The Network – Spastic Society Lyrics 20 years ago
If you really think about it, kind of like all the other songs by The Network, they oddly describe our life in this time... except with robots and things of that nature. But if you think about it with more normal things, they make sense. Don't really know about the random words though in this song; haven't made a connection with those quite yet.

The Network – Right Hand-A-Rama Lyrics 20 years ago
Yes, it is beer. After thinking about it in the masturbation type way... the things all do seem to fit. I mean, RIGHT HAND-a-rama... just... think about that. And The Network lyrics are all pretty wacky so I wouldn't be surprised.

Green Day – Homecoming Lyrics 20 years ago
damloser, I never realized that before. That is a possibility. But, first time I heard it I knew it meant describing Tre's life 'cause he does have a kid in the Bay are and a kid in NY. So I always thought that was kinda irrelevant to the story, but now that you mention that, I can make a connection with the plot of the story.

Green Day – Homecoming Lyrics 20 years ago
I for one think American Idiot was just absolutely beautifully done. (no I'm not a teenie you scumbags) Anyway, it's just so deep, or it can get that way if you REALLY take the time to think about it. I mean, 1) you can interpret the songs by your own meaning if the lyrics relate to you in a way; 2) you can interpret the lyrics accordingly to the whole story following Jesus Of Suburbia/St. Jimmy; or 3) you can interpret them if you want to relate it to Billie/Mike/or Tre's life growing up and such. If you know enough about them you can see similarities. And I mean, Billie, Mike, and Tre had to get the lyrics from somewhere. You can just listen to the songs over and over (at least I know I can) and everytime whether it's on JOS or Homecoming or any others really, you can seem to find something new or different if you really want to listen closely. So many people just look at Green Day songs at face value and never take the time to read and understand the lyrics. They're just so underrated it seems. And then there's the ignorant bastards who don't like Green Day just because they think they're "emo" or whatever shit they wanna stereotype about. It's just sad and pathetic really. I wish they'd be more open minded and not just stuck on their opinion of "good music". I think more people should realize how great Green Day is. And I have a feeling with their next album, that can be achieved. Or people will just realize it sooner or later or I'm going to have to go out and open people's damn eyes to their good music.

Green Day – Deadbeat Holiday Lyrics 20 years ago
When I said "even if you're not perfect" I then realized well... nobody is perfect. So I really mean like... if it isn't good enough for someone else, or like popular I guess you could say. I don't know, I think you get what I mean by that though.

Green Day – Deadbeat Holiday Lyrics 20 years ago
"Celebrate your own decay" makes me think like, you should just be happy with who you are even if you're not perfect. And like someone mentioned before, how everything is getting worse, but you just have to make the best of it while you can. ...that relation to a hillbilly family also seems to fit oddly.

Green Day – Church on Sunday Lyrics 20 years ago
Making compromises in a relationship so it can work out. The first thing that came to mind was marriage, just thinking about Billie and Adrienne, I guess. I think the lyrics are pretty self-explanatory.

Another metaphorical, poetically written song of such a boring topic really: teenage boredom. Damn, it's amazing the shit they can write.

I agree with what luv_u_not said before. It does just seem to spark something in you; like that "I can take on the world" sort of vibe. That's what Green Day can do for ya. ;)

Green Day – Minority Lyrics 20 years ago
The chorus is very self-explanatory and straight forward, then the rest of the verses are very metaphorical and poetic. A very good combination, I must say. Too bad more people don't live by this song instead of being one rap-loving, MTV-worshipping, preppy, Abercrombie-loving blob. Dear God, help me from this shit around me. *sigh* But anyway... yes, kickass song. Sounds absolutely AMAZING live with everyone singing along... wow. Then again, all their songs sound amazing live... maybe better than the actual recordings for the album.

Sad to say, but this is like the song describing my life now, I mean, for God's sake the name of the song is the name of my street! It's a little eery how connected this song is to me once I really, really made the connection with the lyrics to my own life... which also makes it quite cool to be that connected to a Green Day song.
