As much as I love this song, I disagree with the line "You control your emotions it's as simple as that".
There is some truth in this line, you can focus your thoughts on positive things a lot of the time. But ultimately you cannot control what makes you feel good, bad, angry etc. You can only try to limit the negative impact of those emotions.

I find it strange that people have said stuff like: "She innocent? I don't think so" I'm sorry but I find comments like that rather despicable. How would you like if someone you thought was your whole world started to abuse you physically and emotionally? Not everyone has the physical or psychological strength to confront someone abusing them like that. I think I know what you mean Lightning.J, from the albums I have by Thrice (alchemy 1,2,3+4 and artist) they never are preachy in the sense of actually saying "Praise Jesus". Instead they manage to promote his teachings without trying to press their religion onto people. For example this song is based on a specific sermon, yet it's main message to a non-christian (or to anyone for that matter) isn't you should believe Jesus was the son of God or whatever, but rather that you should help others less fortunate (ie the crippled). At least that's how I see it as an Agnostic |
