| The Morning Benders – waiting for a war Lyrics
| 16 years ago
|
This song is calling for a revolution, because corporate jobs make our lives trivial and miserable.
"Give me what I want or put me on the street."
"Here I am in the grave yard waiting for a war."
Here, he's hoping that people will finally rise up to change the way everything is going on.
You can also tell in the music video that this is about having a corporate job, hating it and wanting something new.
"I'm getting tired of living like I'm dying
While the world is moving on."
This line shows the contradiction between our environment and how we behave within it.
"I'm getting tired of everybody talking
And not doing a thing."
People talking about changing our sorry situation but not getting out and fighting it.
"There's nothing left to talk about
But there's plenty left to do."
Books, audios and videos have all discussed revolution (and the need for one) and now is the time to actually bring these ideas to life.

| CocoRosie – Animals Lyrics

When I first heard this I was almost sure this was a song about the life of a prostitute, but maybe I'm completely wrong...
ex.
1) "wicked avenues i've ever sold my love on"
2) "i'm waiting for nightfall or a solar eclipse
And to wake up half empty"
3) "how my heart lies down beside the sidewalk"
4) "entertain the bizarro ghosts of my soul"
1 = Sounds like she just sold the love she had for herself.
2 = To me, sounded like she was just waiting for night (to do her business) and then wake up the next morning feeling empty.
3 = It sounded like she compared her love to a leaf that had fallen on a sidewalk. Sidewalk being where she stands to sell herself.
4 = I thought "entertain" just meant her doing what prostitutes do for their men. And the "ghosts" of her soul were those men. |

| Against Me! – Those Anarcho Punks Are Mysterious... Lyrics

This song to me is played in complete sarcasm and it pokes fun of patriots/ nationalists who use the tactics of rewriting history ("united we'll make them remember our history, or how we'd like for it to be told"), creating a society made of competition ("who has skill to play the game...") and fighting for land ("talkin' like they're going to war because they found something to die for"). |

| Tom Frampton – Bring Da Ruckus ( I'm a Better Folksinger than You) Lyrics
| 19 years ago

Some artists (David Rovic and Atom and His Package) will make songs about how anarchists try too hard to be "true" anarchists. Well, it's almost like they poke fun at anarchists. This song is Tom's way at getting back at David's song, "I'm a better anarchist than you." This song is saying that you shouldn't insult the resistance and the movement because atleast people are putting fourth an effort to resist. |

This song is about how capitalism is portrayed as something great, but the labor inside it is actually just a waste of time. But people have no other choice but to go along and work for businesses. |

| Tom Frampton – (Another Song About) Mexico Lyrics
| 19 years ago
|

I would assume since Tom Frampton is a folk-punk artist, he's an anarchist. Anarchists would be for opening the Mexican border, so I take it that's kind of what this story is. It tells us about some guy who'd give up his life in Mexico to find a new one in America. And sadly everytime he tries to come here those border patrol officers stop him. Now they treat him like a criminal just because he wanted a better life. Everyday he dreams about leaving still. This is a really good song. I wish more artists would deal with this issue. |

| Atom and His Package – Anarchy Means I Litter Lyrics

Anarchists litter? Umm, anarchists generally are against pollution, governmental control, exploitation, war, mainstream media and other nonsense that the industrial revolution has created. People who rebel for a fashion aren't really anarchists at all because anarchists don't believe self expression can be bought or sold. |

Against Me! is as far from emo as punk gets. There's not one emo bone in Tom Gabel's body. This song reminds me of "Imagine" by John Lennon. 8 Full Hours of Sleep is amazing! |

| Against Me! – Don't Lose Touch Lyrics

I agree Against Me! sold out when they joined Fat Wreck Chords, but I think the band is most concerned with the politics. Ranting about the government to a sea of anarchists in a small club never really changed any minds. Beating a punching bag isn't fighting the power. |

| Caesars – It's Not the Fall That Hurts Lyrics

This is a cool little pop song. I agree that this is an uplifting song despite the lyrics. I was thinking this song was just about relationships, and how your heart jumps while you're falling, but then you hit the ground and lose the person. Either that, or this guy actually jumps out of buildings and writes songs about it. |

Anarchists know the truth and they don't ever lose their belief. Preaching anarchy to hardcore underground punks is just preaching to the choir. Preaching it to a more mainstream audience could cause a revolution. |

Concrete jungle? Sounds like an anti-industrial revolution song. I'm thinking the concrete jungle would be the sky scrapers. He's trapped in capitalism. That's just my sick and twisted view of what it meant. |

In the beginning it seems like he pointed out that he drank from bottled water, to show that he was wrong earlier in life. If you listen to, "Burn" he mentions how he felt bottled water is bad. Just thought I'd mention that. |

| NOFX – Anarchy Camp Lyrics

Actually, being an anarchist is a very hypocritical thing. However, everyone is a hypocrite to their own beliefs in a capitalist society. For example, many people would say, "Sweatshops are terrible!" Then they go and buy shirts from WalMart. We're all indirectly sponsoring what we don't like in this global economy. Even terrorist countries receive our money. |

| Anti-Flag – Right To Choose Lyrics

Some animals actually are homosexual too. You can look it up online. And the bible is so full of contradictions and absurdities, it's not even worthy of recognition. You can't rely on fables that don't even stand the test of time. And if being homosexual is a choice, I'd like to hear at what age you made the choice to be straight. It's only a choice for bisexuals. |

Haha, The Beatles references crack me up here. Anyways though, this song, to me, is all about Atheism. "This is just survival, can not promise your children everything, but you would lie so they can sleep tonight." To me, that's about how parents tell their kids, they're safe and they'll go to heaven. Great song. |

Actually, when I figured out the true meaning of this song it was kind of strange. This song is about a date gone bad. I thought it was more deep than that, but I love Fingertight still. They're the best! Too bad they broke up. :( |

Being gay is a natural thing. It's also seen in animals, and each culture has its own population of homosexuals. To not accept something natural like skin color or sexuality, doesn't make you just close minded, but also a biggot. I wish more bands made songs against gay bashing and intollerance. This problem needs to be addressed way more. Atleast Anti-Flag is doing their part. |

I think this is just a very nihilistic view on what life would be like with out everyone being Christian and having a government. It's a "what-if" kind of song. Very good. "Another day of dying is just evolution." |
