Bright Eyes – You Will. You? Will. You? Will. You? Will. Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"repair your relationship in 20 minutes..." it's pretty hilarious how well the advertisements fit the song lyrics from time to time. anyway, i'm not that much of a bright eyes fan anymore (to the extent i ever was, but that's another matter), me listening to them more is really more of a setback - kinda blue over my ex. y'know, i recorded this song for her, just me and my acoustic guitar. of course that seemed pretty pathetic. but. anyway. heh. good song. |
The Beatles – Please Mr. Postman Lyrics | 17 years ago |
one of the greatest songs ever. and to think it wasn't even written by them. |
OutKast – Hey Ya! Lyrics | 17 years ago |
it's a perfect pop song. |
Nelly Furtado – Maneater Lyrics | 17 years ago |
First mainstream pop/hip-hop/r'n'b/whatever single I've really enjoyed since Outkast's Hey Ya! |
The Smiths – Rusholme Ruffians Lyrics | 17 years ago |

"where the light is green" is/could be a reference to their song "green light" on "evol". |
Morrissey – The Youngest Was The Most Loved Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Interesting interpretation you've got going on there, nuwan. |
The Smiths – Still Ill Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"It was there he caught the fever which held him back on the eve of his departure for Greece and of which he lay ill so long in Naples. He was still, indeed, doing penance for it." Willa Cather - My Ántonia |
Morrissey – The Youngest Was The Most Loved Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"'Yes, the babies came along pretty fast, to be sure. But I never minded. I was fond of them all. The youngest one, that we didn't any of us want, is the one we love best now.'" My Ántonia - Willa Cather |
Radiohead – Morning Bell Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"I was told the part about "Cut the kids in half" is a direct quotation from the Bible. Moses (maybe someone else?) gets approached by 2 prostitutes claiming they're both carrying his children. He tells them to "cut the kids in half"." it was king david |
The Smiths – You've Got Everything Now Lyrics | 18 years ago |
OK, my take on the meaning of these lyrics: Presentation of characters: "As merry as the days were long I am right and you were long back at the old grey school I would win and you would lose But you've got everything now you've got everything now and what a terrible mess I've made of my life oh what a mess I've made of my life" Person 1: The well-to-do character that is being sung to. Person 2: The protagoinst, a person that "hasn't done too good in life", but still feels superior to this other person. "No, I've never had a job because I've never wanted one I've seen you smile but I've never really heard you laugh so who is rich and who is poor? I cannot say..." Here, the accuser questions whether the other person really has succeeded in life, or maybe still is the loser. "You are your Mother's only son and you're a desperate one but I don't want a lover I just want to be seen in the back of your car" The "in the back of your car" lines and the others, to me, suggest that this other person could be a famous person, i.e. a movie star, and that the protagonist exploits him. This famous person is probably looking for love, but the main character just wants to blackmail him or get attention from the media; in order to ruin the other's life or just for the attention. "A friendship sadly lost? well, this is true and yet, it's false but did I ever tell you, by the way I never did like your face" Speaks for itself. Their "friendship" really never did mean anything. I can't really work out why the last line, "I just want to be tied / To the back of your car" is changed from "I just want to be seen / In the back of your car", but it could mean nothing. I don't know. |
The Clash – Straight to Hell Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Let me add that the take of this song that is on "From Here to Eternity" is awesome in every way. |
Cornelis Vreeswijk – Balladen om herr Fredrik Åkare och den söta fröken Cecilia Lind Lyrics | 18 years ago |
OK, I'm Norwegian, tired and not very up to it now, but here's a rudimentary translation: From Öckerö sound accordeons and bass and the full moon lights as were it made of glass There Fredrik Åkare dances, cheek towards cheek with little miss Cecilia Lind She dances and closes her eyes so close towards him she follow the dances precisely where he wants He leads and she follows as light as the breeze But tell me why blushes Cecilia Lind Tell was it from what Fredrik Åkare said You smell so nice and you dance so well Your waist is thin and your bosom is big How beautiful you are, Cecilia Lind! But the dance ended and where could they go Though they lived so close At last they approached Cecilia's house I want you to kiss me, said Cecilia Lind Shame, Fredrik Åkare, shame old fellow! Cecilia Lind is merely a child Pure like a flower, timid like hind I'm turning seventeen soon, said Cecilia Lind And the stars they wandered and the hours they flew and Fredrik is old but the moon it is new Yes, Fredrik is old, but love is blind Oh, kiss me again, said Cecilia Lind Shame, Fredrik Åkare, shame old fellow! Cecilia Lind is merely a child Pure like a flower, timid like hind I'm turning seventeen soon, said Cecilia Lind Bonne nuit, mes amis |

Bright Eyes – Waste of Paint Lyrics | 18 years ago |
One day I'm gonna write like this. |
The Velvet Underground – Heroin Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song is a part of me. I don't know what else to say, I think it's gonna follow me for the rest of my life, and frankly, I don't mind. It's just so soothing, relaxing, depressing, comforting, stressing, everything... all at once. I love it. |
Seigmen – Give Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Seigmen på engelsk er cirka det mest idiotiske som finst, IMHO. |
Beth Gibbons – Tom The Model Lyrics | 18 years ago |
me neither. great song, though. |
The Velvet Underground – Black Angel's Death Song Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Quite possibly the song, along with Brothers in Arms by Dire Straits, I love the best in the whole wide world. GENIOUS! It's something about the lyrics(which you'll have to read afterwards) combined with the music that makes it... it makes me feel like IT AIN'T THAT BAD TO DIE |
Rage Against the Machine – Killing In The Name Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i always thought the lyrics read: "some of those that brought forces are the same that brought crosses" meaning those who say "god is on our side"/gott mit uns that kind of thing or people conquering other land(ie Southern America) and forcing upon them Christianity |
Bob Dylan – Death Is Not the End Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Quite boring musically, I prefer Nick Cave's version to this one IMHO. You shouldn't listen to this song if you're suicidal. |
Bob Dylan – Bob Dylan's Dream Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is EXACTLY the way I think - Bob Dylan is a genious! I couldn't have expressed this better if I tried for a hundred years. |
Beth Gibbons – Mysteries Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Hello why ain't no one commenting the songs of this ingenious lady? This is some of the most outstanding music I've ever heard in my life(I'm 16). |
Beth Gibbons – Mysteries Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Pretty straightforward lyrics, but this song is so hauntingly beautiful that I can't let it pass. Amazingly, the only place I've heard this song was on an obscure Ukrainian music channel, but that only proves how wrong the mainstream music broadcasters are! We need radio channels and TV channels that broadcast the good music, right people? BETH GIBBONS RULE! THE VOICE OF THIS WOMAN!!!! I CAN'T FUCKING BELIEVE HOW IT IS POSSIBLE AN AURAL ORGASM |
Bob Dylan – I Believe in You Lyrics | 19 years ago |
A beautiful ballad, about Dylan's converting to Christianity in 1978 or sometime about that. He suffers opposition from his friends and the people he knows, but he's not moving: "Oh, though the earth may shake me Oh, though my friends forsake me Oh, even that couldn't make me go back." Whether you believe in it or not, you cannot stay unmoved by this. If you employ your imagination, you can also look upon it as a love ballad. |
