I guess it's about the relationship between a woman and a younger man. She understands that he's too young and rebellious and he wants to explore the world and life and doesn't want to tie him down though she still loves him and he's too scared to leave her as he doesn't want to hurt her, so she makes up her mind herself, breaks it and lets him go. It's not about some casual fling (lines like "our hearts may break", "you were meant for me"), it's about love though doomed. Those lines are a bit confusing (So tired of life, No fairytale, So hold your fire 'Cause I need you) but I guess it applies to him not her, makes more sense this way, maybe she feels that he yearns for freedom and she wants him to save himself and be free ('So hold your fire Cause I need you').
okay so i heard this song and it reminded me of this other song where a guy sings "i feel my body break" and i can't figure out who it is. so if you're reading this and know who, post it please! it sounds alot like this song's chorus

This song is so beautiful.. The way beth gibbons sing is awsome and the way the music is kinda quiet but goes "bam" in the chorus is so cool.. Love this song.. Have no idea what iits about though. Maybe its about a relationship and both parts knows its dead end. But still one of them has some feelings left, and the other part is afraid to leave her, cause he will hurt her..

i think she honestly is getting her heartbroken but doesn’t want to stop the one doing it for whatever reason, even though it hurts her so much she doesn’t want them to worry about how she feels and wants them to basically do what they got to do, and don’t worry about her feelings as long as they’re okay
