Eels – Love of the Loveless Lyrics 19 years ago
Yeah, the title is definitely "Love of the Loveless."

I have been listening to this song a lot for what, three years? Not a clue what it means. It sounds like the love of the loveless is religious, but then he says "God, shine your light down here/ Shine on the love."

So this man is lonely and apathetic, but he believes in God. I've decided that for me, the love of the loveless is the love that he gives to others, or just optimism in living life.

"All around you people walking/ Empty hearts and voices talking/ Looking for and finding/ Nothing." Clearly, these people do not have the love of the loveless. They get hurt "when push comes to shove" even if they aren't lonely or apathetic, because they dont have that love.

In my interpretation, this song is suggesting that we create our own love. Even if we are "loveless," meaning we don't have a lot of friends who love us, we can still give love with small courtesies and general optimism.

Exactly Zepher, but it was hardly a war... much more like a massacre. The Chinese didn't have a chance against the British navy. The British were just ticked off that they imported so many goods from China, but it of course couldn't export cuz no one wanted the western crap. Great Britain forced opium into the Chinese marketplace by firepower. And we wonder why they've been a little annoyed by us westerners.

Red Hot Chili Peppers – Midnight Lyrics 20 years ago
"over the laws of light
over the moon by midnight"

people say that we always jump to drugs in the meanings of chili peppers songs... but you cant get around that! i mean come on, even if it were just mary j, its still 'over the laws' and gets you 'over the moon.'

im sure there's more to the song, and i'd like to find out, but there's definitely some drug references

Speechwriters LLC – Beach Song Lyrics 20 years ago
I like how the song's tone grows more hopeful over its course. It is about living life right, no matter the situation.

The metaphor about the shoes is absolutely awesome.

Speechwriters LLC – My Worst Day Lyrics 20 years ago
It is about his loneliness.

The whole piece is excellent, because it is able to extract a certain mood from the listener. The intro is properly haunting, with just his voice over the bass. The harmonizing on the 'oh's sounds great too.

I'm not sure about the 'bending's in that last verse, but i am sure about 'distending' because i looked it up; it means swelling or expanding.

Acetate is also used in the making of records... he could mean that he'd give himself to her through music and back off everywhere else so that she can be happy with other guys.

This song is a perfect example of swllc's cleverness with lyrics. The song is catchy and fresh. When i saw them in october at Jammin Java they started off with this.

Obviously this song is about the monotony of suburban lifestyles.

Marcy Playground – Gone Crazy Lyrics 20 years ago
Great song, especially the slow clear chords in the beginning. The meaning is a little obscure at first.

It seems like in the beginning he's trying to get a girl named Molly to stay, and not go to Spain or wherever it is where there are no stars, sun or moon. That could just be a metaphor for leaving him, as in breaking up with him. Either way, he's definitely trying to convince her to stay, but she left.

yeah really, someone likes his opium. is anyone else reminded of the presidents of the united states (the band, not the people) when they listen to this song? just a random, original, happy-tune type song with repetitive lyrics. great riffs and shows off the lead voice well.

The All-American Rejects – Move Along Lyrics 20 years ago
If the rest of this album has as much personality as this, it will be amazing. I'm gonna go to the concert in D.C. tonight, and i think they are advertising the new cd, so i'll get to hear all the new stuff!

Yeah, so most of the stuff from the older album that i have sounds the same, and this is so different. i totally agree with blinkguitar, 'move along' has well expressed emotion. Im very impressed.

And of course musikboi is right about the meaning, its pretty straightforward. the lyrics sort of remind me of 'hold on,' good charlotte, but All American Rejects have much better musical quality. :-)

just have to mention that only the peppers can pull off the talking thing that he does at the end, because of the metered lyrics and the unique guitar... amazing.

Phish – Roses Are Free Lyrics 20 years ago
It's really odd that no one has commented yet! Maybe not their best song, but i still love it even with only the live version to listen to!.

At first the lyrics just seem sort of random, and maybe thats it. Seems sort of like he's talking to some girl, giving her little pieces of advice and telling her to live her life and whatever.

Do the RHCP remind anyone else of phish?
