It is about his loneliness.
The whole piece is excellent, because it is able to extract a certain mood from the listener. The intro is properly haunting, with just his voice over the bass. The harmonizing on the 'oh's sounds great too.
I'm not sure about the 'bending's in that last verse, but i am sure about 'distending' because i looked it up; it means swelling or expanding.
Actually that one line isn't right.
'My world is bending' should be 'My world is upending'.
Its a great song. One of my favorites.
