Paul Wall – bangin' screw Lyrics 17 years ago
I love the line about Greens Road, I live like 10 minutes from Greens, it makes me feel gangster.

Mike Jones – Still Tippin' feat. Slim Thug & Paul Wall Lyrics 18 years ago
Ok, I've got "tippin on fo'-fo's" down, but what does he mean by "wrapped in four vogues"?

Pink Floyd – Apples and Oranges Lyrics 18 years ago
I suppose "flip-top pack" makes more sense, but it really doesn't sound like he says "pack"... it sounds more like "carton".

Mika – Grace Kelly Lyrics 18 years ago
This is the shit right here. There hasn't been music this grand on the charts in a while.

Are these lyrics correct? I always heard "I'm not the kind of love [lover?] it's easy to forget"

Eminem – My Fault Lyrics 18 years ago
This is one of the most hilarious raps I've had the delight of hearing. Em doesn't make raps like this anymore.

Hot Chip – Colours Lyrics 18 years ago
Bursts = Ecstasy?

"Bursts are where I find a fix
Bursts are made to colour me rich
Bursts of blocks, stickle bricks
Bursts of colour 'til I'm sick"

The Beatles – Got to Get You Into My Life Lyrics 18 years ago
The Beatles wrote dozens of songs about love. If they want to write one about weed, that's fine.

of Montreal – Sleeping in the Beetle Bug Lyrics 18 years ago
I love this. But what does it mean? Until I find out, I can only enjoy the music.

MC Frontalot – I Heart Fags Lyrics 19 years ago
The haircut verse is amazing. The album version isn't as good as the other one he did, though.

Eiffel 65 – My Console Lyrics 19 years ago
I almost think Sony commisioned this song as an advertisement.

Eiffel 65 – Living in a Bubble Lyrics 19 years ago
I heard "bible" too. It might just be the vocoder making it difficult to understand him, but it sure does sound like Bible. And it mostly makes sense with the lyrics as "bible", too.

Am I the only one sensing innuendo here?

Radiohead – Fitter Happier Lyrics 20 years ago
About the robot voice, it's nothing mystical like Stephen Hawking or a vocoded Thom Yorke. It's the default Mac OS voice synthesizer, it's called Fred I believe. I thought this was common knowledge? The voice is one of the standards.

Fire up a Macintosh and type it in, you'll see.

The Flaming Lips – She Don't Use Jelly Lyrics 20 years ago
"she don't use jelly, she uses vaseline"
KY Jelly? vaseline? Lubricants!

Also the part about blows his nose, tissues, and magazines... it's pretty obvious.

The Flaming Lips – Ego Tripping at the Gates of Hell Lyrics 20 years ago
"I must have been tripping..."
What a DEGENERATE HIPPIE!

Not really. But this song is excellent nonetheless, although I have to amit I giggled when I first heard the "I must have been tripping"... it's like afro-humor.

D'Angelo – Brown Sugar Lyrics 20 years ago
No, it's about Rachel.

Eiffel 65 – Hyperlink (deep down) Lyrics 20 years ago
It's hard to tell anything he says, everything is so heavily vocoded. Is this not the most nerdiest song you've ever heard? I mean, damn.

Radiohead – The Gloaming. (Softly Open Our Mouths in the Cold.) Lyrics 20 years ago
To me, this song is about the atmoic bomb. "Genie let out of the bottle", "Murderers, You're Murders." Rining alarm bells.
"When the walls bend" could be a refrence to how buildings implode in a nuclear attack.

It's pretty vague though, it could be about any destructive force unleashed upon the world. I guess that's why everyone's linking it to politics, it's the cool thing to do.

Air – Biological Lyrics 20 years ago
I'm not sure what to make of it. If you look at it one way, it could be about how the natural forces of attraction pull people together. But it could also mean that it's all just flesh, DNA, and atoms and in the end it doesn't mean anyhing.

submissions
David Bowie – New Killer Star Lyrics 20 years ago
Perhaps "New Killer" is a play on the mispronunciation of nuclear?

Radiohead – I Am a Wicked Child Lyrics 20 years ago
Thom Yorke is most definately not religious, I'd call him anti-Chrisitan even, so this song is definately a negative (or at least neutral) view of Catholicism, as they're the only Christian denomintation that worships Mary.

The Decemberists – The Bagman's Gambit Lyrics 20 years ago
This song is similar to The Beatles' A Day in the Life, in the way it's constructed. A generally quiet song interspersed with louder parts, and a buold-up at the end. Both are great songs.

David Bowie – Pablo Picasso Lyrics 20 years ago
The intro... I had to check my CD a few times to make sure it wasn't scratched.

David Bowie – Kooks Lyrics 20 years ago
And if you ever have to go to school
Remember how they messed up this old fool

Is this a refrence to Bowie's left eye? I heard someone punched it and that's why it's weird.

David Bowie – Across the Universe (The Beatles cover) Lyrics 20 years ago
Holy shit, Bowie covered Across the Universe? I've got to hear this.

Daft Punk – Technologic Lyrics 20 years ago
I never thought of the similarity to Fitter Happier before, but I see it. This one's a little easier to listen to, at least it has a beat...

The Beatles – Strawberry Fields Forever Lyrics 20 years ago
For anyone who loves this song, pick up the Beatles Anthology 2. It has three alternate version of this song (Take 1, Take 7, and an acoustic demo). The demo is really nice, it's just John Lennon and his guitar. It was recorded just after he composed it on a casette recorder in his home. It's like you're in there in the house. It's creepy in a good way.

Spoon – Merchants Of Soul Lyrics 20 years ago
"I was a heartbeat on the danger side
Just had to see what it all was like
Put your nose in that"

Something to do with cocaine, beyond that, I don't have a clue.

Spoon – Back to the Life Lyrics 20 years ago
It kinda makes sense. It could either be about father/son or God/Satan. The father analogy is used over and over in the Bible, so that makes it more difficult.

Does this remind anyone else of Led Zeppelin IV, and The Battle of Evermore in particular? Or am I slow.

George Harrison – When We Was Fab Lyrics 20 years ago
The Beatles did a cover of You've Really Got a Hold on Me. there is use of flanging and stringed instrument fills and a sitar at the end. It's all very reminscent of The Beatles. And the obvious Fab Four refrence.

Radiohead – Gagging Order Lyrics 20 years ago
The lines:
"A couple more for breakfast
A little more for tea
just to take the edge off"

I think they're talking about how he takes some more alchocol/drugs/whatever, and he's telling himself it's just to take the edge off, but it's really because he's addicted, or needs a crutch, and doesn't want to resolve the issues that messed him up in the first place. He ends up dying from drinking too much, and poeple walking by just stop and look, but don't really care about the man. The police tell them to "move along, there's nothing left to see".

This is one of Radiohead's more straightforward songs. Try to find meaning in, say, Idioteque. There's a challenge.
