Merchants Of Soul Lyrics
I was a heartbeat on the danger side
Just had to see what it all was like
Put your nose in that
Oh yeah
Although you try to sidestep
Merchant of soul don't let
Hey what you doing on the danger side
Yes you're looking for us we know that's right
That way you move it's all an act
So get in
We know you wanna give in
And of course we'll fix you up exact
We'll mail you back
Mixed up and lonely on the danger side
Ralph Reed was driving
Said he wants to go all night
I made him wait, to ok my time to decide
And bent the desire
To get wise
The fiends are fiendin outside
Merchants of soul so unkind
Oh yeah
Merchants of soul they don't mind
They'll take your soul I need mine
Just had to see what it all was like
Put your nose in that
Oh yeah
Although you try to sidestep
Merchant of soul don't let
Yes you're looking for us we know that's right
That way you move it's all an act
So get in
We know you wanna give in
And of course we'll fix you up exact
We'll mail you back
Ralph Reed was driving
Said he wants to go all night
I made him wait, to ok my time to decide
And bent the desire
To get wise
The fiends are fiendin outside
Merchants of soul so unkind
Oh yeah
Merchants of soul they don't mind
They'll take your soul I need mine

"I was a heartbeat on the danger side Just had to see what it all was like Put your nose in that"
Something to do with cocaine, beyond that, I don't have a clue.
Are all songs about drugs?
Ralph Reed founded the Christian Coalition and represents the extreme right in political issues in Washington.
I think that "Merchants of Soul" refers to those who turn religion into a money making machine. Not to cocaine.
Hint: You can also put your nose into a book!
to put someone's nose in something means to show them that they were wrong. if someone says you can't do something because of bla bla bla, then you show them you CAN do it your OWN way, you pretty much get the green light to rub their nose in THAT. meaning if you succeed your own way, screw everyone else. it's a song about how you have to sell your soul to get anywhere in the music business the way it is set up. it's not about drugs & Reed is only mentioned, he's not what the song is about. merchants of soul are those in power of the music biz.
Where does it say anything about the music business?
I don't think the nose is saying "rub your nose in that". It's "put your nose in that" like put your busy-body-all-up-in-my-shit nose into this situation.
But that's just what I think and I could be wrong and I'm not gonna pretend like I know for damn certain sure what this song is about.
Yeah Dross pretty much hit it on the head
