Oh, 3 years after this comment, after 4 years of radio silence and through random occurences with this person, I got him. We were in an as intense, beautiful, tragic relationship as I described here for 2,5 years, went on multiple trips together, lived together, truly loved each other. It was glorious. The breakup was terrifying and thoroughly traumatizing, and partly our own fault, and partly because of just a wrong timing (AGAIN, hahahha). But this song.. always in this twilight in the shadow of your heart, indeed. How en- and discouraging to find me writing these words 7 years ago, and still feeling the same about the same person.

Yeah sure it can be about an affair and romantic love and all that, but to me this song is all about my best friend, female. Nothing romantic or sexual, I just love her so so much. If we go without properly seeing or speaking for a few days, I start missing her but it's ok cause I can text her to meet me on our usual spot, and she'll come and we'll smoke cigarettes and talk about everything that happened. There's one minute of her day just for me.
And "I will leave this man just to occupy one minute of your day" because she's more important than them.
So I don't find this song very sad or heartbreaking, cause I know that she also knows that there's room underneath my bed for her. Beautiful nonetheless. |

It's the ultimate end-of-school-start-of-summer-song!!!! Last year I indeed was 17, working on a desk and indeed, we (me & my friends) only have to take up summer jobs cause we NEED the money..
And the "I'm so drunk I don't mind if you kill me" is very familiar since one can get a bit drunk sometimes in the summer. :) And the "but for chips and for freedom I could die" is just.. YEAH! The two best things in life, maybe? Love to be young and stupid in the summer. |

Woww this song = my first love.
I even listened to this DURING the mad love phase so yesss it will always be about that boy :D I love it because I can take this song literally: we DID lie on the grass, YES IT WAS JUNE, chewing gum and having some laughs.
And I'd like to think the lyrics are "wake up call, coffee and juice" because I indeed one summer used to call him in the morning (he told me to do that so he'd wake up for real and not go back to sleep) and go around to his place to drink coffee and juice.
Then things got really fucked up. I wonder if I'll see him again. So take a look at me now. |

I was 14 when me and my friend started to stalk this older guy in school. We had a whole fanclub thing going on and somehow we managed to actually get in touch with him. We told him the fangirl situation, he laughed about it, I fell for him, we got along really well - and then I was sitting on his bed when he played me this song. "I wanna marry my stalker", eh? It was just.. ridiculously happy.
I'm still on his trail as well, we're still really good friends. He just doesn't want to marry his stalker girl anymore. ; |
