Rob Zombie – More Human Than Human Lyrics 19 years ago
"I am The nexus one" is also another blade runner reference, the replicants in that were from the nexus line.

Rob Zombie – More Human Than Human Lyrics 19 years ago
Yeah it was a White Zombie song, but it was also on Rob Zombie's greatest hits Past Present and Future. So its not completely out of place here.

Not sure about the meaning, if there is one. Seems to be about a guy that wants to live longer and is performing cannibalistic rutials to do so.

The blade runner relationship is not just the title either, in the movie the replicant humans have a limited life span built into them. Once they find this out they try to find a away to extend their life.

from blade runner:
Batty: "I want more life, fucker! "

The Cruel Sea – Cocaine Lyrics 19 years ago
This song was orignally by a Jamacian Reggae band called Dillinger. I heard the original on Triple J once. The cruel sea version is very different.

What I want to know is if the intro to the song with tex being interviewed by the police for drug possession is real.

Officer: "I intend asking you some questions concerning your possesion of a dangerous drug, do you understand?"

tex perkins: "yes"
female officer: "What is your occupation?"
tex: "im a musician."

Rob Zombie – The Lords Of Salem Lyrics 19 years ago
im pretty sure it is actually "No one can ever save them".

Anyway, this is another song about the Salem witch trials in America.

"One child is in fits
The other child dies"

those lines are about how two girls were having seizures and they were blamed on witchcraft. So began the witch hunt that resulted in the killing of suspected witches. the second line implies that even childern were blamed.

Powderfinger – D.A.F. Lyrics 19 years ago
Yeah this is definately not about aboriginals. Seems to me its about S.E.T.I. (the Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence).

"Holding out for a signal to come"
"Cascading down life from far beyond"

SETI uses massive satellite dishes to listen for radio and other kinds of signals from other planets.

"Solution found should appease everyone
Religion hides from developing proof"

If intelligent life can be proved using this method it would go some way towards disproving most religious theorys of creationism.

im not sure what every line of the song is about and how it fits in. But it clearly has nothing to do with Aboriginals

Flotsam and Jetsam – Never To Reveal Lyrics 19 years ago
actually, now i think this song is specifically about trying to keep a secret from the police. The police are riding him hard and hes a suspect in a major crime. Possibly a crime of passion and he wants some space from the police. eventually in the last verse it seems that the cops try beat a confession out of him while he is handcuffed.
"My hands at my back, pushing violent acts
The truth an artifact"
"Kicking out this make believe"

so they beat him untill he confesses a false version of events. Or something like that.

Flotsam and Jetsam – Hard On You Lyrics 20 years ago
This song is obviously about the band's dislike of censorship in the music industry. They are opposed to stickered albums not being sold to young people.

I agree that censorship, especially in music, is bulls%it.

Millencolin – Mooseman's Jukebox Lyrics 20 years ago
this song is about something... i think its about how the songs mentioned helped him get through life and made things more managable and enjoyable.

"Help me hold my feelings longer.
Kingwood days, make me stronger and alive."

Bad Religion – The Dodo Lyrics 20 years ago
This song seems to be about people only being concerned about their own survival these days. People are becoming immoral and selfish and the singer is feeling disjoined from society.

The way of the dodo, is of course a way of saying we are are headed towards death, extinction. But also perhaps implying at the same time that it will be through a short-sightedness (like that involved in hunting an animal to extinction) and each of us only being concerned with what is layed before us individually.

The Music – The People Lyrics 20 years ago
Yeah, i read it again now and its more likely about a guy that cant get a girl to go out with him, even tho they are both lonely and just keep going out alone.

So, i would say you were pretty right Moochop.

Frenzal Rhomb – It's up to you Lyrics 20 years ago
These lyrics arent printed in the album sleve. The singer said it you can tell why when you hear the song live and you can tell he really doesnt have a clue what he's saying.

He also claims that this song has the world's fastest bassline.

Foo Fighters – In Your Honor Lyrics 20 years ago
Yeah the meaning seems to be about someone who feels like they would do anything just to make another feel happier, or "feel alive".

But you could also look at it as a roman gladiator about to enter the arena. Although i think that would fit, I doubt that's what it was written about.

Metallica – The Outlaw Torn Lyrics 20 years ago
The line: "And know I wait my whole lifetime... for you"

is actually "And now I wait my whole lifetime... for you"

I wont comment on the meaning of the song because you guys already nailed it

Flotsam and Jetsam – Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting Lyrics 20 years ago
Not a bad cover of the Elton John version. Better than the original. These days it cat stand up to Nickelback's version. That one just sounds better. Mostly because of the recording quality.

The meaning of this one is pretty simple. Its about going into town, getting drunk, running amok, getting in fights and picking up chicks. All that makes it one of my pre-going into town favourites.

Flotsam and Jetsam – Escape From Within Lyrics 20 years ago
Interestingly, this song came out in the same year as "One". Euthinasia / assisted suicide must have been a hot topic that year or something

Flotsam and Jetsam – Escape From Within Lyrics 20 years ago
This song seems to be about someone that is being kept alive on life support in a vegitative state. They want to be killed by the life support being turned off "now kill the power".

This song seems to share a similar theme to Metallica's "One", but obviously not as good

Flotsam and Jetsam – Never To Reveal Lyrics 20 years ago
this song could be about trying to keep a secret, and feeling it weighing on your conscience.

It seems that in the song they have to keep a secrect about something they have seen because telling the truth would involve betraying someone close to them.

Flotsam and Jetsam – She Took an Axe Lyrics 20 years ago
This song is about real killings that happened about 80 years ago. Lizzy Borden's parents were killed with an axe and lizzy was put on trial for the murders.

she was let off because the court was convinced that she was too nice to have killed her parents. The case was seen by the public in much the same was that OJ Simpson's trail was in the 90s.

Everyone knew Lizzy killed her parents and got away with it. this songs refrain: "
Lizzy Borden took an axe, gave her mother forty whacks,
When she saw what she had done, she gave her father forty-one. "

became a popular saying after the trail.

BoySetsFire – Eviction Article Lyrics 20 years ago
This song is about the corporations that make donations to US election campaigns influencing that party's policy.

The interests of corporations tend to focus on issues outside of the country (such as oil) "for outside interests that now enslave the poor" which leaves no money to fix issues within the country (health care, poverty presumably)

"increase the bottom line, your role again defined" - again talking about political parties only being concerned with pleasing their campaign sponsors.

Hes also hinting at here that it is therefore the corporations that are running the country "out with the old in with the same". No matter who wins the election, the same people are running it.

The Music – The People Lyrics 20 years ago
Not sure about this one... it could be about how different life is when you are going out at night on the weekend compared to when you are at work during the week.

"hey monday morning" - monday is the day of the week you wish the most it was still the weekend. Hes trying to say that he wishes that people could live like they do on the weekend all the time.

The Music – Welcome to the North Lyrics 20 years ago
to me it seems like he singing about in the north (of britan presumably) there are many people who are ignorant and violent.

When the singer returns to the north he realises this fact and gets in a fight.

"you know the numbers" could be a reference to these people only picking fights when they have superior numbers. or it could be about 'knowing the score'

anyway the singer no longer feels like they belong or can relate to the people in the north

AC/DC – The Razor's Edge Lyrics 20 years ago
yeah this song seems to use the example of a battle. but more generally its about what its like when the pressures really on you and you will have to be tough to pull through.

It could easily also apply to a grand final game or something.

Millencolin – Biftek Supernova Lyrics 21 years ago
I dont entirely get this song, but i figure he has to be singing about an uncoming band that he's good friends with and he knows they'll be awesome when they start getting some attention.

Flotsam and Jetsam – Forkboy Lyrics 21 years ago
"We're told the first few punctures
They're for our own good
Better carved up in pieces
Than blown up in the oven "

this part might be a metaphor for saying that getting ripped off once or twice in your life can be a good thing if it makes you smart enough to avoid getting ripped off big time later.

Flotsam and Jetsam – Forkboy Lyrics 21 years ago
Forkboy appears to be someone that preys on his fellow man. Doing things like dealing drugs through a fake employment agency, and selling junk bonds.

They are just commenting on how some people are willing to do anything to other people so they can make money.

in my opinion anyway.

Echobrain – Spoonfed Lyrics 21 years ago
I agree.

The the line "Ive been needing time to breath since i was zero" seems to say that they have had a hard time their entire life.
