it's "quiet mind," not tired mind in line 4. I see this song as explaining how sometimes you have to step back from things to see what you really want to do. You can't always be pushing forward with something if you're troubled, you need to take time alone to heal and rebuild before you can make progress. |

i think this song is clearly about having an affair with someone. "Our act of defiance, we keep this secret in our blood No paper, Or Letters" They're making sure to keep it completely secret and not tell anyone. "compelled to do what we have been forbidden." And at the end, "Cause you will be somebody's girl You will keep each other warm But Tonite, I am here in the cold" He's sad and jealous when he realizes she'll go back to her other lover and leave him lonely. I think its about an affair where he wishes it were actually a relationship, but he knows it has no hope of ever being that way. That makes it bittersweet and overall its a really painful and beautiful song. |

| I fel like this song is about two really good friends, and one is in love with the other. But they don't want to say anything because they are afraid of losing the friendship. that's why they need to look away, and they are "Statues without eyes" because they're trying not to look at the other. "It all aligns" and "I have you where I want you" could mean that they feel so close to the one friend, when they're together everything seems perfect. But then "they are statues without eyes" again because they don't want anything to change. Similarly this is why they are "frozen in time," and "barely audible." Just one take on the song. It could probably have other meanings if you look enough. I just get a bittersweet feeling from it, maybe because that's what I'm feeling at the moment. | |

correction: I believe it's "the why you restarts" in the chorus and not "the way you restarts." Anyway: this song never made sense to me until recently. I get the feeling it could be about finding your current love is not real anymore, and you're drawn away by someone else. "stay around running out" is confusion of not wanting to leave the current relationship. "you climbed the wreck..." is about guilt over falling out of love. If you feel mean because you stopped loving someone else who still loves you, you might say you have a "cold diamond heart." Yet even though its cruel, its "still beating" because you are still able to love a new person, and "no one knows the reason why." I see the middle of the song as working out this confusion, until the singer finally gives up and says "the years of worry aren't my century." They're just giving into the feeling, and they're not going to worry about why or the past person that they hurt. And the title, I like to think of it as a reference to the elephant in the room, the thing that everyone ignores but is really obvious; that could be about how the whole situatio n starts: a new person who realizes you are drawn to them and they are drawn to you but you won't do anything about it because you're still in a seperate relationship at the time. So you ignore it like an elephant in the room. |

| I always thought this song was pretty, but it has a sinister feel in the middle, where the singer gasps and the words stop for a short time. I think it was about how one night she left her lover's place late at night, and then she got raped on the way home. And she never told him, she just broke up with him after that, maybe she got pregnant from the rape. And the baby was her "cross to wear". | |

The singer could easily get their revenge "I could do most anything to you." But instead they want to try to work things out, telling the other "You can't leave," please let's stay and talk this out. But it doesn't work. When the couple has a fight "in slow motion, the blast is beautiful," kind of like he's mesmermized by the fight and he can't believe it's happening. "Doors slam shut:" this happens in a fight. As for the clock ticking, he knows the relationship can't last forever when they fight so horribly, and he can feel their time together running out. | |

| I think this song is about having sex with a girl who's not quite into it. Maybe's she's drunk, maybe she's just not completly willing. After the first time I heard this song, I couldn't help being creeped out by lyrics like "hit me, I can take your cheap shots," and "if you get mad, three fingers point back to you." I also think that "Give me everything you got now, I don't feel a single thing" sounds like the guy doesn't really love the girl, and maybe he's not feeling guilty, or he's just numb because he can't believe he forced a girl to have sex with him. | |
