| the speaker seems to be remembering a better time in his life, shared with a loved one. he seems to be imagining the two of them "return to serenity." possibly even completely rejecting the life they currently live in. | |

| Strapping Young Lad – Possessions Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Seems to be about quite simply...having a fucking baby! Or rather...not wanting to. So he says being human is fucked (partly because of conflict like this), so why bring another one into the world? "Give it away" sure does sound like one of those A words doesn't it? Alternatively, it could mean giving himself away to a child. Here we have the four stages of life?: Vacation - prior to having a fucking baby procreation - having a fucking baby sterilization - after having a fucking baby, your identity becomes somewhat "sterile," i.e. after you begin to raise children, you change not for you but for them DISNEYLAND - the american dream ofcourse |

| Dream Theater – Octavarium Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
As a keyboardist, I admire the keywork in this song. I don't know how they do it. They're good. So good in fact, I suppose they've long since passed the point of making pushing the limit of what they can play, and instead they focus on what they can write. Some people complain about long songs, but how can you when they are this good? The references in full circle are things from the time period before the 30 years of "catatonic sleep." Before he decided to live a reckless life, which he now discovers, all too late, wasn't the way he should have lived at all. If I have any cricticism it is that I don't know if the Megadeth-esque vocals in Intervals were done that great. |

| Devin Townsend – Storm Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Definitely sounds like its about his wife (mentions her by name). I think it's about Devy's career taking up so much of his life, and that all the two want is to spend time together. His wife is tired of it, and he is trying to tell her to give it just a little more time. "The living" seems to be the same thing as "the war": A hectic lifestyle in the public eye. No idea how much dough Mr. Townsend has, but if I were him I'd probably retire right about now. I'm not too worried about running out of new Townsend music to listen to either. The man's put out ten times the content of the average musician. |

| Devin Townsend – Earth Day Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I missed my chance to see Strapping Young Lad at Ozzfest '06. I wasn't to upset at the time, because I had never heard of them. I pretty much had the idea that they were a comedy band because someone told me 'they have a song were they talk about how much they suck!' While I definitely see comedy as an aspect in both SYL and Devin Townsend, that is only one small part contained in some of their songs. Somehow Townsend manages to make songs that you can laugh at if you want to, or take totally serious if you want to. And it seems his own shit is even more off the wall (coincedence that he's also bipolar?). As for why its not popular, it may have something to do with his own description of it. He says hes not that good at music, but he has his moments, and that his music may not be "for everyone." Well everyone here seems to think he's a musical prodigy. As for this song...wow. That's a tough one. I decided to have fun and build my interpretation of it as a response from who the speaker is talking to... (here I may be the voice of devin townsend, someone he's talking to, a child, who knows) ...so you're telling me to eat my beats, then don't eat my beats? Are you trying to get me to break down in tears, or hit you? Or were you just testing me to see how much I would follow your words when telling me to 'eat my beets,' when really I should 'not eat my beats!' Fuck! And I should be a good little boy and recycle too, right? I see...you want me to what's best. Sometime's that's just hard to figure out. Oh, oh, there's no message. So you WERE just fucking with me. Bastard.... (I may be the voice of someone else now...perhaps someone he has feelings for, who is intoxicated at the moment) What? What's wrong with how I'm thinking and what I'm doing? I'm not making you uneasy, am I? The reason you're uneasy is not because of what I might do. It's because of what you might do, with me. There's no way you're going to stop what you do. And you feel no one else can understand why, because there are things only you know. And then ends that conversation... So who knows why you do what you do? Either way, it's YOUR way. Wish you said something differently to me? You always think about that, but then tell yourself to forget it. You made your choice and it was fine. Like a child, you have that much less complication in your life because of your choice. But you also do not have me. Cover it up with lies that you are happy with your decision. But inside you scream at your past self to make the decision you should have made. Now you drown in this full realization...denial becomes even stronger.... Hey, Don't get mad at me because you fucked up! This whole song means nothing. It's just entertainment. I dug too deep. You're mad at me (the listener)! Since I figured it out...I guess you gave up the lie Everything blows to you now, you see no light... you've given up Well if you want to fix things it's up to you They may never be the way you planned them... DID YOU EXPECT THE CHOICE TO BE MADE FOR YOU? |

| Nevermore – Enemies Of Reality Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
the "worms" may represent ideas. the "enemies of reality" are those who do not conform. the reason they do not conform, is because their "reality" is different from others. when you "eat the worms of the enemy" you are giving in to their ways. like meat eventually will attract worms, humans always seem to develop unchanging ideas. to these people, their ideas "sanitize" and "purify" the minds of others. "Take my hand my friend, my foe, I am enemy" - your enemies are not always obvious ones. it is possible to control someone without being directly hostile. "Open wide, eat the words, become what you most fear" - now you are just like them |

| Nevermore – This Godless Endeavor Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I think this song is about the pain caused by the need to know the answers to questions that we as humans can not answer. the first part of the song "And on the open ...third stone" seems to illustrate mankinds inability to cooperate and listen to eachother's ideas. The "third stone" could represent earth (all we know). The person knocking on the door could be himself, another person, or something higher that he hopes will answer, but it never does. "We fly through this godless endeavor We try to explain the black forever " These lines sum up the theme of the song. Godless endeavor means that we have no true God in our lives; we know of nothing more important than our tangible mortal lives. It does not mean there is no God. It means we have no divine presence or intervention in our lives. "The black" is everything we don't know. If we can't explain why we exist then we can't truly explain anything. "Our organic equation has shown its flaw" Answers people have made have no true basis. We cannot find the answer. “Abandon naive realism, surrender thought in cold precision” seems to mean that what his "brother" is telling him to do is to give up trying to find the answers he is looking for because his "organic flaw" prevents him from doing so. "I feel empty and deranged, denied one last epiphany and ushered from the stage" Until now, the artist has been able to think of explanations for his questions but now he has reached the limit of his mind's reasoning. Driven of the stage is a metaphor for him feeling like he is no longer in control of his life (a stage is often a metaphor for life). "Thou shalt not question, the role of science is not to eliminate god As alternative gods multiply science stands accused of theocide" Science does not eliminate your "God." It creates more gods because god is mereley your explanation for the "black." As more and more people create such explanations, "alternative gods multiply." People think science is theocide because they believe it eliminates god in people's beliefs. Instead, it just changes their own description of god. The children in the trees (tree being a metaphor for the mind) stay whey are they safe on their own branches, together in conformity. The look down on and laugh at the artist who strangely wanders for his own answers. He says no "prayer" or common belief can heal his wounds, becuase these ideas are the inventions of others. The priests of industrial disease are those who create, perpetuate, spread, and abuse ideas. It is referred to as a disease because it can spread easily, take control, and cause harm. "We contemplate oblivion as we resonate our dissonance In godless random interpretation " This could describe how either (a) people come up with (entirely on their own) random ideas and spread them as fact or (b) the artist contemplating oblivion and expressing them in this song! rock=dissonance, some say. "The universe still expands" - The more we learn, the more we don't know "mankind still can’t understand How to define you, so hide your face and watch us exterminate ourselves over you" - Countless wars and violence against humanity has occured because of disagreements about God. All of these beliefs that carry such strong attachment are derived from random ideas, not from a true absolute god. Whatever form of God truly exists is beyond our comprehension and does not present itself in our life. "Welcome to the end my friend, the sky has opened" When you die, you will finally know...(hopefully) |

| Flyleaf – I'm So Sick Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I went to a live show (which fuckin kicked ass btw!) and now I know why this song was written. It's about broken homes and abuse. Lacey said that just because you were abused, doesn't mean you have to pass that abuse on to others and that is the meaning of this song. JamRockQueen, sorry for my cursing, but I just have to fuckin express how much I fucking support Lacey going where females usually dare not venture. I fucking support her and girls like her everywhere!!! | |
| Nonpoint – Bullet With A Name Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Nonpoint is so fucking awesome live! They were the first band at the 2006 chili cookoff to really get the crowd hyped. Elias has so much energy! He looked at me like he was thinking "what the fuck?" when I left in the middle of a song to get a shinedown autograph. Agree wit you guys mostly about the meaning. But it could possibly more specific to their lives being in a famous band...dunno I got a bullet with a name! |
|

um yellowcarded...was that flame against revalation theory supposed to be lyrical? if so, then you sir are quite a hypocrite. while the lyrics may not be the best in the world, it is still a good song, guitar is not bad. it's about overcoming things like drugs/alcohol. like every band writes songs about. |

| Shinedown – Crying Out Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
i agree with both dkgoldfish and outlaw...this song obviously carries the theme of the CD, as it says on the inside of the case: "This record was written for the dreamers for the people that have, in one way or another, been cut down or cast out of society for being different or having an opinion, it is an expression of insecurity and frustration, and yet, the will to overcome there's no turning back now that you've opened up to your mind" |

this band kicks so much ASS!! hey preSCHOOL, the singining may sound alike, but I thinks FLYLEAF could take AVRIL to SCHOOL no fuckin doubt!! this girl can scream!!!!! anyways I think the song is about wanting to get people to hear what she has to say...people need to stop being so obsessed with bullshit like material possessions (especially her!) she's infected with where she lives...a materialistic, superficial, FAKE society. too many people have that sickness if you ask me... And I agree with charish 2k1 this really comes out in the music business.... |

| this song is rock. therefore, it's either about satan, suicide, or anal sex. | |
| KoЯn – No One's There Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
My interpretation of this song can be summed up in the one paramount line that the entire song builds up to: "Trapped inside me for all time." According to the famous psychologist Viktor Frankl's existential analysis, each of us are alone; we are the sole inhabitors of our minds, lives, and physical bodies. Since your mind, body, and life is all you have, he said, you should work to improve them. However, if you don't like yourself, your life, or your body, well that just sucks because you aren't gonna swap them with anyone else. Another concept in this song is meaninglessness. Many people equate the meaning of life with wealth or fame, all of which will be lost upon death. The "greedy" people who keep "fucking with" people's minds do so in vain, for they will lose it all upon death. Ofcourse another meaning could be suicide despite the fact that that's what people say for every other KoRn song. It could also mean simply moving away from troubles and the people that cause them. Whatever the meaning, this song kicks ass, and you didn't need a renowned psychologist to tell you that! |

| KoЯn – Alone I Break Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Okay alot has happened with Korn since this song was released, most importantly Head has left the group. And it wasn't a sudden decision, it is very likely that head informed the band years before that he was planning on leaving. Anyways, it sounds like that might be reflected in this song. This is just a guess though, no way to be sure: "pick me up, been bleeding too long" - John is signing as if he is Head talking to God "Seems this is the only way, I will soon be gone" - Head is going to leave the band, it is a sad because they have been together so many years "Leaving us it seems so strange" "I am hoping I can find where to leave my head behind" - Korn will never be the same, how will they move on? "I have lived the best I can, does this make me not a man?" - here it could either be head hoping God will accept him, or trying to emphasize that being a good person is enough to make you a man... |

| Slipknot – Duality Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| It's like if you get somethin in ur eye, rubbing it in stops the ache, but then it just gets pushed its way inside and its worse. on another topic, i wonder if there any actual subliminal messages in the cd? if u play duality backwards i think you can hear him say "listen" several times. probly just a coincidence. | |
| Linkin Park – Izzo/In the End Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| This song....SUCKS ASS! It takes away all the meaning that "In the End" had. | |
| KoЯn – Got The Life Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| the lyrics can be disputed...you can't tell for sure what he's saying...but I think it might mean God gave him this life, God expects him to live it, and he doesn't want to. | |
| Raffi – Bananaphone Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Banana phone...I wonder if raffi knows he spawned quite alot of flash cartoons and shit from this song. I think raffi just likes fruit alot. And you don't need expensive junk to have fun. Anywayz the song is for kids so it doesn't really have to make sense. | |
