Crying Out Lyrics
Don't use a weakness
Don't change the subject,
Don't ask the questions if you fear the answer
You look distorted
Lets make you clearer
Lets flip the switch and use the smoke and mirrors
Re-invent yourself today
Re-invent your world today
Crying out for the last time
Clear a space for the warning signs
Crying out for the last time
And there's no turning back now that you've opened up to your mind
What guides your vision
What holds the balance
Don't think that I can't see you shake and tremble
Well I know your nervous this world is scary
You have to let go all the madness you carry
Re-invent yourself today
Re-invent your world today
There is no turning back now
Everything you've ever wanted
Everything in this moment
There is no turning back now
Don't change the subject,
Don't ask the questions if you fear the answer
You look distorted
Lets make you clearer
Lets flip the switch and use the smoke and mirrors
Re-invent yourself today
Re-invent your world today
Clear a space for the warning signs
Crying out for the last time
And there's no turning back now that you've opened up to your mind
What holds the balance
Don't think that I can't see you shake and tremble
Well I know your nervous this world is scary
You have to let go all the madness you carry
Re-invent your world today
Everything you've ever wanted
Everything in this moment
There is no turning back now

This song I think is a coming out of depression or a situation in which you were going way off, ie drugs.
"re-invent yourself today reinvent your world today" THis is just like returning back, and making yourself something new. The chorus also talks about opening up your mind, which seems to me that it would be finally opening up to the presence of happiness, or life in general without whatever might have been keeping you down. THhe second verse is one badass verse. It is very true, and is almost something that i think we all need to look at in ourselves and realize.
I think its about someone who has always been telling you how to be and what to be and you're finally "opening up to your mind" and becoming your own person.
Smoke and mirrors has to do with drugs i think. Mirrors to do with coke maybe and smoke with weed or something else. Flip the switch might have something to do with using his past with drugs to his advantage.
i love this song
to me this song means your going down a path where you make decisions that cannot be changed once they have been made "
i agree with both dkgoldfish and outlaw...this song obviously carries the theme of the CD, as it says on the inside of the case:
"This record was written for the dreamers for the people that have, in one way or another, been cut down or cast out of society for being different or having an opinion, it is an expression of insecurity and frustration, and yet, the will to overcome
there's no turning back now that you've opened up to your mind"
i also agree with both dkgoldfish and outlaw, id just like to add one thing. i think its about becoming the person you want to be but also, theres someone or a group of people who dont want you to be that person. i think that is what the first stanza is about.
The second verse is my favorite. I think the song is about like becoming the person you want to be and letting go of the questions that come with that and people's personal thoughts of you
Just an unbelievable song - why this wasn't released as a single I'll never know...

"There is no turning back now, everything you've ever wanted, everything in this moment, there is no turning back now"
That's my take on the whole thing. I happen to believe that Shinedown have written a masterpiece here, and the meaning is conveyed exceptionally by the way Brent Smith sings the song.
