| Muse – Uprising Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Well, this is the first song I have heard off the new album! Truly wonderful! I especially love the line "It's time the fat cats had a heart attack". I hear that, and definitely identify with sentiment. |

| Bowling for Soup – High School Never Ends Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Following on from what one SuperNerd (being the most recent comment), I can definitely agree with that. It's been, what, ten years since my high school days and as the song implies, the only things that really change are your age and whatever the latest trends are. University/College/work or whatever, society really never changes. So, what you really learn in high school isn't maths, english and physics but rather how shallow and pathetic society really is. |

Argh, double posts! The back button is not your friend. :( |

| Jonathan Coulton – Chiron Beta Prime Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Odd, I read the second verse as follows: "They tried to decorate and make it look more Christmassy, but what they did looks more like Christmas in hell. They nailed a Santa to a cross in front of everyone. It wasn't pleasant but I'm sure they meant well. And the rocks outside the airlock exude ammonia-scented snow. It's like a Winter wonderland" Must be a different version then. |

Well, I guess you really have to have played Portal to get the song fully. I love the line "we do what we must because we can", sums up GlaDoS (sp?) perfectly. The world needs more games like Portal... :) |

| Muse – Assassin Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Yes, this song seems to me to generally be about getting together with likeminded folksand basically tearing down your countries government. All for the good of society of course. Now, I didnt like Torchwood much when it was on, but did anybody see the "Fight Club" episode? Remember the scene where they used this song with all the "suits" letting off steam by knocking lumps out of each other? Nice... |

| Muse – Apocalypse Please Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| The first time I heard this song, I was going through (and in some cases still am) a state of extreme boredom. Well, maybe not boredom, maybe more a sense of dissatisfaction with the way the world is going. So, whenever I listen to this song, I get the idea of someone so utterly fed up with how mundame our existence that they're just wanting something, aything to happen to shake things up. Even if it is not necessarily a good thing, like a conflict or something even worse, like the moon colliding with the earth.... | |
| HammerFall – Glory To The Brave Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Amazing song. The circumstances around which it was written don't really surprise me. I put this song on after I got the news one of my friends committed suicide recently. it's a time that really got me thinking about it all, as I'd never lost someone I knew the same age as me before. It is kind of sad, but manages to sound fairly uplifting at the same time. Not sure what my family would think of it, but I would like this to be played in some form at my funeral. | |
| DragonForce – Soldiers of the Wasteland Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Good lord, what a song! When the line "When the time has come for the battle now we follow with the horde" (must be the horde part) instantly brings to mind Warcraft. Though that tends to happen a lot with songs by bands no unlike Dragonforce too.... :) |

| HammerFall – At The End Of The Rainbow Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Every day, practically! Other than that, whenever I listen to this song, I like to put images ot the words, seems like the kind of song that just has to be visualised in some form! Also, it's great song for putting me in the mood for some questing in World of Warcraft, the lyrics seem to fit quite well there! |

| Sonata Arctica – The Power Of One Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Just one thing, the first speaking part (while mostly correct) should read: My fathers land My mothers tounge Misleading me so shamelessly For many years I misbelieved The hatred is the path for me Great song though, nonetheless. Good work! |

| Mindless Self Indulgence – Straight To Video Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Well, to me it seems like it's just about wanting to take the easy way out of a difficult situation. "Little darling Welcome to the show You're a failure Played in stereo" has to be the favourite line of a song I've heard in quite some time. I can think of someone right now I'd really want to use that as an insult for... :P |
|
| Sonata Arctica – Tallulah Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I think Misery05 hit the nail on the head there, at least in tune with what I think this song means. The line "Don´t even dare to say you hi, still swallowing the goodbye" clearly shows that he still hasn't got over it yet (I know that feeling well) though it seems she's dealt with it and moved on already. In passing, I found there's a short story called Tallulah, which I saw described as a sotry about "love and loss" which seems ot be rather appropriate here. I've not read it myself so I don't know exactly what it's about but given that Tallulah isn't exactly a very common name to use (I think) I wonder if this song was inspired by said story. |

| Mindless Self Indulgence – Faggot Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Hmm, I've always just thought this song was about some guy who hadn't got laid, and is just slightly ticked off about it. I tend to go for the simplest analysis really... Oh, that and it's a fantastic song to "dance" to, especially with attractives members of the opposite sex! Change that last sentence, depending on your leanings, if you must. |
|
| Sonata Arctica – Abandoned, Pleased, Brainwashed, Exploited Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I agree with the point as to the deteriation of the world, especially in regards to those values people used to uphold. I have real pity for the kids that are being brought up in this day and age. This song really speaks problems, I especially like the line: "Throw money at the problem and it will remain" Something our countries leaders should bear in mind. |
|
| Sonata Arctica – San Sebastian Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Well, looking about, it seems there are a couple of places called San Sebastian (one of which is in Spain, so the whole sun thing would fit quite well with that perhaps). So, the song could be about that as well, perhaps a place he liked to visit back when he was younger, or judging by the lyrics and other comments, about a girl he met while he was there. Though I wouldn't think of Sonata Arctica to sing about somehting as tacky as a holiday romance, so perhaps it's something much deeper than that! |
|
| Sonata Arctica – The Wind Beneath My Wings (Bette Midler cover) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
These lyrics seem fine, but at leats in the one I'm listening to here, the lyrics seem to go: "Only a face without a name, I Never once heard you complain" though that may just be me. Anyone? Anyway, I don't think (to me) the song is necessarily about somebody that's passed away but more likely someone close to the person, be it a partner or relative of some sort. Though I'm more inclined to think of it as the former, as I tend to do that. |

| Franz Ferdinand – Michael Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
England? You have got to be kidding me right? FF were actually formed in Scotland you know (in the very city in which I live in fact). So no, it definitely ISN'T England I'm afraid. Anyway, yes, I find this song oddly disturbing. These may modern times, but stlll not all men are metrosexuals (or would even want to be). And to those people who would say that disliking this song due to it's lyrics means you are not comfortable with your sexuality, I'm afraid your wrong. I for one am perfectly comfortable with my sexuality. I know what my sexuality is, and I'm comfortable with it like that. which does me nicely. Oh, and I do agree, there's no point bruning a new CD without this song on it. That's what the skip button's for on your CD player/whatever! |
|
| Franz Ferdinand – Do You Want To Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Well, to those people worrying that FF might be gay, well thye could also just be bi. I though about that while watching Paradise Kiss (good anime that just happens to have this song as it's ED theme, thus increasing my respect fot this song 100 fold). One of the principal male characters in the anime is bi and wouldn't look out of place in Franz Ferdinand himself. Plus, they're all very arty.... But really, the meaning doesn't matter that much, it's just a great song to listen to! | |
| Dire Straits – Brothers In Arms Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| While looking up stuff on a completely unrelated subject, I found that the song was and ode to war in ancient Scotland. The lines about "mist covered mountains" and the lowlands made me think of that as well. My historical knowledge of my own country isn't exactly great but I do know during those past conflicts a lot of men died in those "mist-covered mountains" often while trying to make their way back home to the lowlands, where they're homes would most likely be. Most of them didn't stand a chance, wadign through deep snow for miles while fatally wounded..... | |
| HIM – Wings of a Butterfly Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
You know it really annoys me when people moan about how 's new song/album sounds way too pop-like and that they've sold out and all that nonsense. I don't know if it's to make you sound more hardcore or what but really, just stop your griping. If you don't like it, go and listen to another band that will satisfy your cliched viewpoints. Is it not enough that the song sounds good? Yes, that was addressed to walkingbehind, btw. I will agree as well, amazing video! |
|
| Blink-182 – What's My Age Again? Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Oldskoolrocker, is this really such a big deal to you? If you enjoy listening to bands like Metallica and Dream Theater then good on you but you don't need to come along and ridicule other people for their tastes. Also, you're remarkably naive if you think they're going to change their listening habits on the strength of one comment from you. I don't like Blink 182 very much myself, but can relate to this song in a way (in ten days time, I will more or less be the person n the song). | |
| Hot Action Cop – Fever For The Flava Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Eheh, this song is quite easy to figure out. It's just about some wanting some 'action' basically. I can identify with that.... :D | |
| Queens of the Stone Age – Everybody Knows That You Are Insane Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Now now people, let's be civil about this. This is indeed a good song, I personally think the meaning is fairly self explanatory. I was watching an AMV to this song which also helped me come to the conclusion. I'm still in two minds about the new album though. I feel it still has to grow on me a good bit more before I'll be suitably impressed. | |
| VNV Nation – Cold Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| heh, well, if this song isn't about f**king (even though it totally seems like it me) I wonder what would happen should they actually do a song about sex. That I would listen to! | |
| Cibo Matto – Birthday Cake Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| A lot like Battlefield Earth being a really bad film that somehow manages to be quite good, this is one of those truly awful songs that happens to be really good! I know I like it. Don't ask me what it might be about though... | |
| 30 Seconds to Mars – Edge Of The Earth Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I'd have to disagree with Bazal's statement. I would have agreed with it earlier on, but nowadays I find the whole generation thing rather amusing, as well as a little annoying. I read in a paper something that summed it up perfectly I thought. It went something along the lines of "Someone needs to tell the youth of each generation that older people don't all have some collective amnesia that makes them forget they were also young once. Being young is not a destination, just a particularly rocky stage on a much larger journey". If anyone wonders, I'm 22, so I'm not a complaining old man but probably a bit older than some people. And remember one day, we'll all be the 'previous generation' cursing the new one for their strange ways and lack of respect. Such is the cycle of life. ;) I was watching a Full Metal Panic AMV for this song and it had a suitably apocalyptic/war theme to it so that leads me to feel this song is written along those lines. These days, war and apocalypse seem to go hand in hand. |

| System of a Down – Sad Statue Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
These lyrics are good but a couple of corrections are in order (not showing off, just have the album sitting in front of me). The second verse should read: The pictures of time and space are rearranged, In this little piece of typical tragedy, Justified candy, Brandy for the nerves Fantastic song and chorus anyway, and I'll agree with Ms_Self_Destruct's comment, that is such a powerful line. |
|
| System of a Down – Holy Mountains Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| So, it appears this song isn't one Mesmerise after all then? That's a bit annoying but I'm hoping it'll appear on Hypnotise instead. | |
| System of a Down – Radio/Video Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| That clears things up, as I had no idea who Danny and Lisa were until now. This song did crack me up quite a bit, especially during the extensive lalala-ing that SOAD seem to do so well! | |
| The Dillinger Escape Plan – Unretrofied Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Well, retro does mean that something is old-fashioned so I'm guessing 'unretrofied' could mean being the opposite of that. Just a guess mind. | |
| Within Temptation – Gothic Christmas Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| What a track, should be the new christmas anthem. That line about Rudolph is pure genius! | |
| Within Temptation – Aquarius Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Hmm, why are there so few comments for Within Temptation. I find you have to at least think about what these songs mean when you listen to them. As for this one, I'm not too sure, perhaps she's in love with some evil sea god perhaps....? | |
| NO-CASH – BURN A CHURCH Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| You know, it strikes me as a bit strange that these lyrics aren't accompanied by a multitude of inane comments by angsty teenagers who see the mocking of organised religion as 'the coolest thing ever' and believe they are somehow sticking it to the man (upstairs) by doing so and listening to so called rebellious music. I understand you may all be having fun, but I hate to break it to you that your not as 'free' as you would like to think you are. After all, you are the ones lapping up this songs lyrics aren't you which are just being sold to you by someone else. It also can't go without mentioning that the lyrics are a little flawed. Jehovah's Witnesses do actually believe in God as well. You may as well let the Church of Latter Day Saints inot your home as well while you're at it. Also, the church has never asked me for money. Giving an offering is always optional and we Christains do actually have the capability to think for ourselves, just like all humans. No major brainwashing occurs when you adopt the faith. It is free will that brought me type this comment after all. Looks like No-Cash need to do a bit more research. Finally don't ask me to prove that God exists. Then I'll just have to ask you to prove that he doesn't. :) | |
| Mindless Self Indulgence – London Bridge Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Well, mist3r that's one of the funniest things I've read in a while. Meanwhile, I have no idea what this song could mean. | |
| Godsmack – I Stand Alone Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Hmm, I wonder what the deal with this song and soundtracks is. Seeing that it was also picked up for use on the new Prince of Persia game. Anyway, it sounds quite good there I think so no matter. | |
| Frou Frou – Must Be Dreaming Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Yeh, we don't really care about you're sickly romantic encounters. This is a site to discuss what the song means, after all. I take it you mean the RahXephon AMV? If so, that one does indeed kick. | |
