Abandoned, Pleased, Brainwashed, Exploited Lyrics
Wake up my child, hope is here, With the vengeance,
we have no time to bleed, My only world filled with fear.
I never saw the sower of the seed.
Where is the world we had, Who can ever save you and
your little lives, A Child guides a child guided child
A Child is never guilty, But you should not run free?
The Grave is open, let us pray without remorse
Empty the cradle with fire for them once again
Why not look through your fingers what they´ve done
Your own blood will clean the blood, for now the glory days are gone?
Chorus:
Time has come for everyone, to think what we have done
Open your eyes and see, it´s not a dream
You aim for a common goal, you are one with your foe
If only we could wake up soon and scream
Abandoned, pleased, brainwashed, exploited, madness has a reason
Throw money at the problem and it will remain
Your life has no value for them, ?violate me(and) this never ends?
My child, I know, will then hate you too?
The Grave is open, let us pray without remorse
Empty the cradle with fire for them once again, tonight
Why not look through your fingers what they´ve done
Your own blood will clean the blood, for now the glory days are gone?
Now, when it seems that we have nothing to believe in
Maybe we should be waiting for the rock to come
For our children soon have nothing they should learn
The Grave is open, let us pray without remorse
Empty the cradle with fire for them once again
Why not look through your fingers what they´ve done
Your own blood will clean the blood, for now the glory days are gone?
Chorus x2

I think this song is about children prostitution and commerce.
I agree and disagree with you. While the song is about children, I believe the song is about the loss of innocence in general.
Yeah, I agree that the theme uns along the lines of the loss of innocence, but think it's referring more to the state of the world, how it's deteriorated compared to before and how much everyone has lost because of this. Just a thought.
I agree with the point as to the deteriation of the world, especially in regards to those values people used to uphold. I have real pity for the kids that are being brought up in this day and age. This song really speaks problems, I especially like the line:
"Throw money at the problem and it will remain"
Something our countries leaders should bear in mind.
I have to agree to disagree with the original poster, the line "A Child guides a child guided child" makes it quite clear child is meant in a figurative sense in this song, ie. we're all children.
Since this album was released on the eve of the Iraq War II it was hard not to try read a political meaning into this song. Mesopotamia, nowadays known as Iraq (In part) if often known as the "Cradle of Life". To me it gave a lot of meaning to the symbolism of the song though it's likely a co-incidence. "My only world filled with fear" = terrorism, "The grave is open" = war, "Empty the cradle" = various armageddon prophecies. This is not a foreign theme to their first albums!
Hmm, when I was first hearing the song, it struck me as an 'anti-abortion/stop making a fuss about it' song. I wouldn't expect Sonata Arctica to write such a song though.
This for me, a critique to the false religious way of thought, always hoping for something better and praying, without doing anything about the real problems that concern all of us as society
