the song is all symbolic. "Take away these dark hands reaching for my soul" dark hands=death incarnate "now, the cold wind, blows out my candles" candles=spark of life "feeling only fear without any hope" she knows her time is up... "a thousand dark moons A thousand winters long A million fallen stars the candle burns in the womb" the chorus is speaking of life, the time we have on this planet measured in ways other then years. and th candle that burn within the womb is a baby, a future child that will live for the thousand winters. "we try not to forget they live through us slowly they die away at every candles end" everyone lives through their friends, family, ect. and it goes the other way too. so 'they live through us' means everyone in one's personal life. slowly they die one by one. considering that the candle means a 'spark of life' when the candle burns dry so does one's life. so the song is simply about life and death. you live, you make friends, your friends die as do you. ] still, it's a beatiful song to listen to... |
