well... i think, of course.. the real question is.. and it would determine the meaning is are the lyrics what else should i be? all apologies? or what else should i be? all apologies. is he apologizing? or asking if he should apologize is he saying everyone is gay... or is he asking if that's what he should say tho, the third line, if he's keeping it constant, is, almost certainly, a statement what else should i write? i don't have the right maybe the question changes to a statement when it comes back.. or maybe it goes from a statement to a question i think "in the sun" means he only feels "at one" or in peace when he is away from his life. I guess i just picture him, probably drugged out, lying in an open field, whispering to himself... thinking up the lines, "in the sun, in the sun i feel as one" and thought that feeling was perfect to describe what he was going to go into next. "i wish i was like you, easily amused" now the You here is quite ambiguous. I've always thought of it as being the audience, that they are easily amused by him, but that could easily be wrong. i've thought of his "nest of salt" as drugs, and "everything is his fault" for taking drugs himself. those drugs are his "aqua seafoam shame" sunburn and freezeburn.. contrasting, yet identicle representing his state of mind and i think most people interpret the "her" in the last line to be Courtney, but i really don't think it is. i think he's personifying something. I'm not sure what he's refering to, probably some isolated incident. "all in all is all we are" |

Pretty easy... he's singing to this girl. Ok.. but more in depth. He's gonna become a singing, she's gonna go to college. He's decided that they're gonna have sex before she leaves. He questions whether or not he should pursue a music career. I mean... will it get him somewhere far away from home? Its actually possible that just the lines "I'm gonna give it away to you, I thought I'd hold for something more but i can't wait" is actually being said from the girl, but i'm not sure. |

This is about a girl, like all, of unrequited love. He's surrounded by a whole bunch of people who are so "interesting", but he can't stand that. They all tell the same stories. But he finds a girl who's different. This girl is from a place where everything is perfect, and she is surrounded by "interesting" people as well. But he's calling out to her, letting her know that he's the same, and he'll leave his interesting life, and hopes that she will too. He's "over that way, of communicating over and around everyone who's anyone." He tells her that he'll wait for her, but lets her know that him saying that means nothing, unless she will at some point agree to leave too. Its really great too how he impresses the "I Love You" being "the words youy've grown to starve" I like that. |

I like how he says you can't write the same song over again, yet it repeats itself anyway, as they do with other songs such as histrionics. This is of course saying don't try to do too much too quickly, emodied in the title "Pace Yourself." They apply it to song writing, but more importantly to relationships. Using a line like "In a race on the road on the way to apathy" saying that to keep on doing things in a relationship or otherwise eventually turns us numb to them. Perfection isn't what we need, it's life's little let downs, cuz it would be spontaneous, something new. Also, showing that she has done this many times before, "glass you placed upon your withered heart encased and left for danger." This is a girl who has crushed guys hearts so many times, she doesn't even care anymore, but this guy is just happy to be a part of her neglegence to emotion. Amazing |

Histrionic is a type of personality disorder. A Histrionic, or a person who has histrionic personality disorder, excessively craves attention or, and probably more important, a person who considers relationships to be more intimate than they actually are. What that has to do with the song... i'm not sure... i'd go that its along the lines of some guy who starts relationships with girls, then puts too much into them, and eventually loses the girls. I don't have much basis for that... just an opinion. |

the pain isn't specific in this, it can be interpreted as anything the person doesn't want people to know. Be it hung up on a ex, or drugs, or being gay, whichever. But whatever it is, the person is on the brink of giving up on life, and then he finds someone who he thinks might be able to get him to forget or stop whatever it is that's keeping him down. But now he's starting to doubt that this new person will actually get him to stop whatever it was. And he's starting to lead back into it. More insight on "the pain". The way it makes me me. That means that whatever it is effects everything he does. Which i think is pretty cool way of saying it. Be it an ex-girl who he can't meet a new girl. Or alcohol or drugs, making him have to have it. Or being gay, having to fake when the boys are at it. But if you lost that that, what would you be? Since it has become you, yet no one knows it. |

| OK.. i didn't read everyones.. cuz there are alot... but i noticed alot of allusions to Buddhism (break away from me, i thought were never real, somewhere i belong(nirvana)). And since Linkin Park, at this time, was moving towards Asian cultures, such as the anime in the video, they were considering Buddhism also. And this song may be an allusion to how he wants to except Buddhism, or his feeling on that. | |

I think its meant to be... I"ll be here cuz "You're all that I got"... meaning that his friend is saying that to him.. he puts up with all the crap his friend does because his friend tells him that he's all he's got. | |
