| Minus the Bear – Absinthe Party at the Fly Honey Warehouse Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I agree with everyone's consensus on the vacation to france. I really like the "let's cross the see and get some culture red wine with every meal and absinthe after dinner" line along with "sitting on a park bench that's older than my country". I have always thought that America lacks sophisticated culture. The culture that we do have is not rooted in hundreds of years of history like it is in Europe and especially an epicenter of high culture like France. | |
| Coldplay – Viva la Vida Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| the first time I heard this song it automatically made me think that it was written from the perspective of King Louis XVI during the French Revolution. He was made King of France at a young age. Later in his life he was imprisoned, and guillotined by the angry public that he used to rule over. The song reflects on the mortality of rulers and kings. Every paragraph fits this explanation if you are somewhat knowledgeable about the French Revolution. | |
| Hootie & the Blowfish – Michelle Post Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I think this song is about a girl that Darius met and he was really attracted to her at first, but she had a very different world view and past experience than him. I'm probably all wrong though. My interpretation is very directed towards my own experience. Oh yeah, I'm really fucked up right now, so take that into account. I go to school at Clemson in South Carolina too (Hootie went to school at USC in Columbia, so we listen to Hootie all the time here as a result). |

| Editors – An End Has A Start Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I also first heard this song on AMC - first song I've heard in 6 months that I immediately loved. The AMC channel also put a little montage with this song in the background and some of the lyrics flashed during the montage - the "when you caught my eye" lyric, which in my opinion is just genius | |
| The Smashing Pumpkins – That's the Way (My Love Is) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| The corg still has it. I truly believe if this song were on an earlier album that it would have been a hit. | |
| Minus the Bear – Andy Wolff Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Whenever I feel down, I think of the message in this song's lyrics and I don't feel band anymore. | |
| Say Anything – Goodbye Young Tutor, You've Now Outgrown Me Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I say it is pretty self explanatory. I could be wrong though. Great song off a great album. | |
| Say Anything – About Falling (feat. Matt Skiba & Laura Kirsch) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| These lyrics are definitely some of the most Alkaline Trio-ish of all of Say Anything's lyrics. Awesome song. | |
| Say Anything – That Is Why Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This is the most genius song off the new album. I think this song's tongue and cheek lyrics alone would make it a hit. Similar to Wow I can get sexual too. Who can't relate to this shit? | |
| The Starting Line – 21 Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I've never had a song literally describe me in such detail. Usually people relate to songs in an abstract way, but it's as if this song was written for me. I literally am 21 and last night I was wasted at 7. | |
| The Smiths – Panic Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I think Morrissey's line: Because the music that they constantly play IT SAYS NOTHING TO ME ABOUT MY LIFE Especially in a nutshell describes my entire outlook on music during my high school years. About Morrissey being a racist. . that's fucking bullshit. Overly liberal white people love to call other white people racists at any moment neccessary and just look for shit to call people out on. Sometimes I think the ultra liberals are almost as bad as religious fundamentalists. |

| Rush – The Spirit Of Radio Lyrics | 19 years ago |

For the words of the profits were written on the studio walls And concert halls And echoes with the sound of salesmen words of the profits - fucking genius. |

| HIM – The Sacrament Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I like the Uneasy Listening remix much better, but I overrall like this song. | |
| ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead – Relative Ways Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I don't even like Trail of Dead musically, but I think their lyricist is one of the best. To me this song is just about weird shit of any kind that turns out to have meaning in the end as part of a grand scheme. Maybe the purpose of life may be hard for anyone to see, with all the hate and death in the world, but sometimes it comes together in relative ways. | |
| Shinedown – I Dare You Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| You can tell that the writer had a lot of writer's block on this album, it shows on pretty much every song but this one. Writer's block in song writers usually ends with them producing a huge hit (such as this song or for instance the Goo Goo Dolls' Johnny Reznik had horrible writer's block before producing "name", which became a #1 hit) or fading away and never producing any more material. I'm glad that Shinedown at least produced this awesome song on their last album. I know it has nothing to do with the songs intended meaning, but I'll always remember this song from being the theme from WWE Wrestlemania last year. It was such a fitting song. | |
| Blue October – Into the Ocean Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| awesome song. Great imagery. I imagined that he used the falling into the ocean as falling into depression, drug use, whatever. Then being given a reason to live, a reason to try to swim. | |
| Sting – Fields of Gold Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| It is absolutely ridiculous to say that Eva Cassidy did this song better. This is one of the most beautiful songs ever and Eva Cassidy ruined it. If you think Eva Cassidy's version is better you simply have bad taste. | |
| Placebo – Infra-Red Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Drewskee also has a VERY valid point. Perhaps this is a song to the NWO, meaning that the singer may have been in the dark before, but now he has the power to see in the dark and therefore see the NWO's plans. The ability to see infra-red radiation to see things in the dark may be a very suitable metaphor for the darkness being lifted and the ability to see someone's scheming. | |
| Placebo – Infra-Red Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Infra-red is a type of radiation that has a longer frequency than red light and therefore is invisible to human eyes. Infra-red radiation however is produced by living things in the form of heat. In some forms of nightvision goggles (If you have played Rainbow Six for PS2 you will know what I'm talking about) infra-red radiation is picked up to show the user where living things are in the dark. Since all living things produce heat, infra-red vision can see people in the dark. The army uses this technology all the time. I believe this song is a threat, but however the writer claims to have some ability to be able to detect infra-red radiation, allowing him to "see in the dark" and his victim cannot therefore hide in the dark. In summary, this song is about a man who is driven mad about to commit suicide, but before he commits suicide he is going to hunt down this victim. He has an extra sort of vision (or perhaps the ability to see infra-red is just a metaphor for a special power lent to him by his madness) allowing him to hunt down his victims and there is nowhere to hide. | |
| Hootie & the Blowfish – Michelle Post Lyrics | 19 years ago |

these lyrics are incomplete and wrong I love this song though, I'm surprised that at least one other person hasn't posted. |
|
| Mute Math – Control Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I assumed upon first listen that this song was just a call for God to take over one's life. As he said earlier it is exhausting when it is you alone. | |
| Mae – Painless Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
One of only a few songs that I like off of The Everglow, but one of my favorite Mae songs period, nonetheless. Upon my first impression, I thought that this song was about drinking, partying and just "escaping" and how that whole aspect just does not make you feel any satisfaction in the long run. Many people do these things to run from their problems. I think that maybe this is a song of the main character reflecting upon that. "All these restless nights" the long partying nights with a chance to escape, but in the end giving no satisfaction or sense of fulfillment. "Until this empty place is filled, I’ll keep pretendinge" The main character fills no fullfillment in his life, and drinking/drugs/partying he knows will not in the end give him that satisfaction, but for now they provide a temporary fix. . making him "Painless." if only temporarily. |
|
| Nevermore – Believe In Nothing Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think the song is about being HUMANISTIC. Since he does not believe in God and an afterlife, he wants people to live for THIS life and stop warring with each other over religion and such. Life is not guaranteed to continue. When you die, you no longer exist because of a lack of an afterlife. | |
| Type O Negative – Christian Woman Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Very powerfully strong song. | |
| Bob Marley and the Wailers – Is This Love? Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| The most romantic song in my opinion of all time. He may not have much, but he is willing to share all he has with this woman so that they can be together and happy. A stark contrast to today's world of music that only goes skin deep. Music like this will truly be remembered for ages to come. | |
| Her Space Holiday – Japanese Gum Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I downloaded this song on a whim. It is awesome Anyway, I think that the boy in the second verse is the writer. "I used to know this boy" - Maybe it happened a long time ago and the writer is a different person. The writings that he did, he knew he was good, but he had no confidence, so it as if he is viewing them from another person's perspective. He would read his own work and think it was horrible, but he still knew he could do it and that's why the writer talks in third person. |

no idea what it's about, but the lead guitar in this song totally sells it. AWESOME song. |

| Blindside – Cute Boring Love Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
This is what I get from the song. Some of you may agree, some of you may not. My comments are in [brackets] She said what I was supposed to think Thank God for freedom Thank God for liberation (She said) Now we are allowed to think Now we are allowed to feel lust without cute boring love [When it says "Thank God for Freedom, Thank God for Liberation", this could refer to earlier times before Women's liberation, when sexual freedom and expression were more taboo than they are and she is thankful that she is no longer restrained by that, but conversely, that freedom now allows people to want to feel nothing but lust instead of true love, which Christian, the singer, calls "Cute Boring Love" to refer to it as how someone who is only sexually obsessed would refer to it" But don't you ever just like me Long for purity Don't you ever Get sick of our territories [I'm Pretty sure he is asking if he feels like him in wanting to feel true love and be pure at heart, instead of have nothing but sex. The territories may refer to uncivilized animal-like behavior of having territorial matings, as in how when one is only sex-obsessed like an animal] What are you so scared of sister What made you so afraid to feel To chose a stone cold liberation The one thing I hate most about me Is the one thing you want to make your trademark To feel lust without cute boring love [He is asking her what closed her heart or drove her to the "Stone Cold Liberation" which I would assume would be some sort of sexual liberation. The writer also has had this sexual liberation and he hates himself for it.] But don't you ever just like me Long for purity Don't you ever Get sick of our territories Don't you ever feel like glass Fragile, hurting, letting it pass Don't you think it's time to trespass [He urges her to "trespass" or walk into an unknown territory. The word trespass hints at a fear of continuance into a new path] But when the fire is gone Who are you? What are you so scared of sister? I'm just as scared as you [After this sexual liberation has finished, or after the sex dies, what is left?] |

| Rush – Freewill Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| This is a very humanistic song. Pert is saying that instead of worrying about Gods and paths that they have for humans he chooses his own path which is free will. My favorite line is "If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice". I think he says that when it comes to following the God's ways no matter what you do, it's because the God's make you do it, none of your actions are of your choosing, so he chooses his own way which is to disregard all of that and choose freewill. Pert writes the best lyrics of any drummer there is. | |
| Alkaline Trio – Prevent This Tragedy Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I think the title "Prevent this Tragedy" is aimed at the listener to do what they can to prevent the West Memphis three from being prosecuted any further or put to death | |
| Alkaline Trio – Sadie Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| awesome song, his voice isn't that different, it was messed up on Good Mourning from some problems with his vocal chords (still sounded awesome) but the new voice is mastered more on the new track also. . . .Pro Tools. | |
| Alkaline Trio – Settle For Satin Lyrics | 20 years ago |

| South – Paint The Silence Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Well the OC has great music and I would never have heard this awesome song if it wasn't for that show. | |
| Queen – Killer Queen Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I think it's about a female con artist who is very sly and comes off with all the luxyries and life. She seems very well cultured and classy and she uses unsuspecting rich men for their money, etc. and then kills them. That's just what I think | |
| Blindside – Where The Sun Never Dies Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| personally I think that the "shadow" represents evil or sin, while the sun is representative of God and good. For instance when in the Chorus he says "Shine away my shadow" it is like he is saying erase his sins. Also a shadow is something that everyone has and in the Christian religion (which Blindside is known to be) it is a big theme that everyone has natural sin. | |

| Submersed – Hollow Lyrics | 21 years ago |

FAithlessSinner's theory does make a lot of sense. I think it is some kind of song to God and the singer is angry at his Creator. Just my theory though |

| Modest Mouse – Float On Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Pretty straightforward lyrics, matter of fact, probably the most easy to grasp MM song. It means that even though sometimes things go bad and they couldn't get worse, eventually they will get better. | |
