Syd was not crazy. He was fed up with plastic stardom and rebelled. It’s that simple. Hie sister understood him, but not musically. She once said Syd would never expect anyone to take his lyrics seriously. She was wrong on that account. These lyrics are a desperate expression of being erased. Syd was too special for Floyd.

Billy Idol's song, The Dead Next Door, serves as a contemplation and warning about the pitfalls of pursuing purely physical, carnal desire at the expense of deeper emotional intimacy. Idol observes a loveless, emotionally hollow couple living next door, describing them as "the dead next door" - a state he fears slipping into himself if he succumbs too far to impulses of "animal love" and one-night stand couplings devoid of authentic connection. With visceral imagery, he captures the allure but also emptiness of purely primal sexual urges, cautioning against letting lust dominate to the point of becoming numb, passionless "ghosts."...

It's a love song from a parent to their child. It's about the entirely unreasonable love you feel for your child despite/ because of the difficulties. It's about parents thinking of their little girl as "The girl of my dreams." It doesn't matter that: "She never asks/ She always screams." Parents, particularly first-time parents, will know what it's like to watch your child sleep and that feeling when they wake up. "Her sleep is troubled/ Her face will twitch/ She wakes up angry/ And I'm bewitched"

When I saw that this song's lyrics had 23 comments, I thought maybe there was a heated discussion about it's meaning, but it was just the same doofus spamming the same comment 23 times, not to mention his interpretation is incorrect. (x23)

This song is poking fun at Disney's thirst for power and influence, particularly in Southern California.

At risk of being too literal, I think on the surface, the songs meaning is clear.

Mario is a guy that she's singing about, that she wishes they would talk, but he doesn't give her that.

"Trading clothes" means sex. There might be other meanings, but that seems the most obvious.

Pavlov's bell is a well known reference. The dogs would salavate not when the food comes out but when the bell is rang, because they learned to associate the bell with being fed.

No comments? This is one of the greatest songs ever written. The tune is ethereal and borders on the sublime or magical. The morse code at the beginning spells out UFO and, the lyrics are pasted together titles from John Lee’s book shelf full of sci fi books.

He’d employ the same trick on their more famous “Titles” using titles from Beatles tracks to create a new song.

May be a Coming of Age story because a Last Ditch effort is like a Hail Mary pass in a desperate moment. The Brick is a heavy emotional circumstance. Avian Flu was also going concern at the time and dead or sick birds were considered contagious. She lived flying around in the world daring hunters to shoot her, like a suicide mission. She gets knocked out by something she didn't see coming and the hunter puts the terrible burden of her fate on him lending a brick to finish her, helpless between a rock & a hard...

This song means overcoming depression to me. I know Michael dealt with it. It’s a song about putting all the negative behind you and moving forward in a positive way. It can be difficult when depression can make it hard to do the most basic things. “See no evil in all direction” and “hear no evil in all directions” is a change of outlook. “I’m standing here on the ground, the sky above won’t fall down.” The worst isn’t going to happen. Standing here on the ground reminds me of practicing mindfulness. “Resolution of happiness, things have been dark for too long.”...
