"Wrap me up in always And drag me in with maybes, yeah Your innocence is treasure, your innocence is death Your innocence is all I have"
"Wrap me up in always And drag me in with maybes, yeah Your innocence is treasure, your innocence is death Your innocence is all I have"
This part is one of the references to their young love, declaring that they will always love each other and dreaming of the maybes of their future together, their innocence is now how they look at how they use to feel for each other.

"Breathing underwater And living under glass And if you spin your love around The secrets of your dreams You may find your love is gone And is not quite what it seemed To appear to disappear Beneath all your darkest fears"
This part is about how now they feel trapped, like fish in a tank. But they still have a need to be loved, and if they were to look for it like in their dreams, they will realize that now they are much older and their young love is not something they can recapture with their partner or someone else. Which leads them to emotionally check out of the relationship
"I believe in never I believe in all the way But belief is not to notice, belief is just some faith And faith can't help you to escape And with this ring I wed thee true And with this ring I wed thee now And with this ring I play so dead But no one's asking for the truth, so let me tell you"
This part shows that they do not plan on leaving the relationship, they made their vows and they intend to keep them, even if they are just fooling themselves. They intend to stay in their loveless marriage until death.
"To the revelations of fresh faced youth No one will come to save you So speak your peace in the murmurs drawn But youth is wasted on the young Your strength is my weakness, your weakness my hate My love for you just can't explain Why we're forever frozen, forever beautiful Forever lost inside ourselves The night has come to hold us young"
This last section tells us that even though they no longer feel the same way about their partner they do respect them and probably wouldn't have changed their past. They take solace in the love they felt for each other while they were young and will try to carry on with the help of said memories.
Lyrics I think say “With a paralytic weapon I can hardly miss. Gotta get a fix of an everlasting kiss”. “Paralytic” means very drunk

The name of the song is a reference to Aldous Huxley’s novel “Brave New World”. In the novel Huxley warns against the dangers of too much technology. He shows a world where technological advances have solved all of society's problems, but at the cost of their humanity. I think that is the inspiration here - how when it all explodes, the repercussions may be horrifying.

As a Georgia native maybe three generations removed from a William Faulkner novel, this is the tale of a time when very little other than skin color separated poor sharecropping whites and blacks. In time, each saw the other as a barrier to economic advancement despite the personal connections between them.

Though those emotional connections remained, societal pressures demanded that they be minimized, forgotten, and disavowed. After all, the ranks of the Klan were filled by poor whites who felt disenfranchised and looking for any reason to receive the fruits of a Lost Cause. Time period—1870s-1920s.

Actually, I believe this song predated the Beatles trip to India by almost 3-years. The song was recorded in December 1965 but wasn't released until the summer of 1966. So, the song was actually written for his love interest at the time Linda Lawrence, who also remains his wife to this day. Linda Lawrence btw was in relationships with Brian Jones, of Rolling Stones fame & Gram Parsons, of The Byrds and The Flying Burrito Brothers.
