Another Love

I think the meaning is pretty clear. This person got really burned in a previous relationship, and because of this is unable to love and show care in his present one, even though he so badly wants to. It's lovely song, and very sad. You can really feel how defeated and frustrated he is with himself.

I think it's about someone who was hurt many times by the persons he loved. As a reaction he's afraid of loving someone again, and uses excuses (like that he wants to take her somewhere but can't because it's too cold) to hide the fact that's simply fear who stops him from loving again. Also, his heart was broken so many time that he feels emotionally simply too weak to love and fight for someone again.

In my opinion, the first time I heard this song I thought 'oh he must just be broken from his past relationship and he doesn't want that feeling again if he gets into another' but then I saw the video and it seems as if he was in a relationship with this girl and he truly loved her but she changed and he can't love the new her bit still loves the old her. Hence why he's putting pictures up of her being missing and is ignoring the new her when she is chasing after him.

I have two theories about this song. However, the cheating and two loves theory aren't them. My first and most obvious theory is that he is simply saying he wants to fall in love and give her all his heart, but feels all he has to offer is the leftovers of a past relationship. He can't truly give her all of him because he feels as if his past lover has a part of him and always will. My second theory is that his "other love" is drugs. I may be way off, but if you listen to the lyrics it makes sense. When drugs are your first love, it is hard to give your lover the attention and love that they need because you are consumed. Those were my theories before I watched the video. Now I'm a little confused, but the one about how it's a relationship built on lies goes with the video.

After I heard this song I agreed with your opinions . But after I saw official video and short movie I wondering if it is correct meaning. I have two opinions. 1.Official video- Maybe he cheated her. She throwing books and she yelling at him. And, at the end he cry. Maybe this solving line "But I'm just so tired to share my lines". And lines " On another love, another love, All my tears have been used up" maybe means he "spend" his emotions and feeling to someone else.

2. Short movie- I see in it different meaning. I think it is about relationship which is build on lies. He thought he knows that person, but she is completely different (and that could be the reason why he run away in movie , because he dont recognize her, all the time he was in love with "another love").

I think that he is singing about his relationship with his girlfriend in which he can not give himself as he should because he is thinking about another love,another girl he loves "all my tears have been used on another love..." He knows he should try in his actual relationship but he can't because he love this other girl.

The song is about him being with a new partner and then describing how he can't commit emotionally to that person because he was hurt so badly by his previous (another) love. The song repeats the line "all my tears have been used up on another love" and he describes scenarios that won't be the same as they were with his previous partner.

This is quite a depressing song and therefore i think the video tried to capture that situation whilst adding a twist and happier ending.

The video has him putting up missing posters of a woman which really just represents what's been missing from his life since his old partner. He then finds the woman who represents his new partner, he runs away, not realising that in front of him is everything he is missing from his previous partner... until the end when he finally holds hands with her realising that she is what he's missing.

I like Brianna's answer too though. That could well be the original meaning! Good song.

In my opinion, I believe it is about wanting to do so much for the person he loves now but he can't because he's been hurt by it too many times in the past. Basically, he is scared of his demons to try and fight them.
