  • New SM add: Wooden Shjips

    How is it possible no one added @woodenshjips before me? Mebbe they couldn't spell it? I did check alternative spellings, just in case they really were on SM but found only the song, "Wooden Ships." 

    I'm listening to my spotify and their album, Back to Land, came up a few times in my 2013 release playlist. Thought I'd check to see if I had added the band to my SM faves when I discovered SM didn't have them.

    How crazy is my favorites list? Was a time I'd print it out when kids asked what artists I listen to. Now, I'd kill a forest if I did that.

  • Parquet Courts

    Just added Parquet Courts to SM. I'm listening to what is being touted as their "debut," 2013 release, Light up Gold, for the third time. MetaCritic's collection of 14 reviews of the album alerted me to it.

    According to allmusic.com, "The band played often in the greater New York area and released its first album, American Specialties, exclusively on cassette in late 2011. A more widely distributed full-length, Light Up Gold, was issued on the Dull Tools label in the summer of 2012, and the band's first U.S. tour followed by the end of the year. Light Up Gold quickly caught on and was reissued on Brooklyn label What's Yr Rupture in early 2013 to wider distribution."

    Really? No one added these lyrics before now? I think only "Face in the Crowd" was already here. I like this album in my 2011 picks. Something weird happened with "Almost Blue." Looks like the SM site thinks it's Elvis Costello or something. The lyrics are blocked from posting. I hope they can straighten that out. If not, I'm going to try something to get it up. Hope it's okay.

    Added the band Slam Dunk to SM, tonight. Heard "Bear Cub" via a KEXP 'Song of the Day' mp3 and liked it. Tunes available to hear on myspace.com/slamdunkband/ ~~ about 5 of 'em, I guess. Lots of info and links there, too. Got any lyrics? Please post.
