With combined sales of 200,000+ units the Hoods have gone from being underground sensations to an independent success story with their uncompromising sound and commercial success.
Their two most recent albums, The Calling (2004) and The Hard Road (2006), have both achieved Platinum sales, with The Hard Road debuting at a jaw dropping Number 1 on the Australian Charts.
In the wake of their stunning commercial success the Hoods have morphed into Australia’s most awarded independent act. Plaudits so far include two ‘ARIA Awards’ from Australia’s peak industry body – the Australian Record Industry Association - for Best Independent Act and Best Urban act. The group then went on to pick up the prestigious J Award (Album of the Year) from Triple J Radio (Australia’s leading alternative music station).
The Hoods are perched atop Australia’s burgeoning festival circuit as one of the most sought after live acts in the country. Along with selling out numerous headlining tours the Hoods have appeared in front of thousands at Big Day Out, Homebake, Falls Festival, East Coast Blues & Roots Festival and Splendour in the Grass.
The boys have payed their dues supporting Hip-Hop heavyweights like Public Enemy, Kool Keith and Cypress Hill. They have also toured Canada, UK and South Korea and have plans to tour Europe, Japan and North America in the near future.
You can’t stop integrity and commitment and the Hoods personify both. World domination can only be a short distance away.
