Arborant
Les fruits naissant de ton corsage

Toi canotant sur un lac
Toi sortant de la fac
Toi faisant des grimaces
Toi serrée contre quelqu’un
Qu’un rasoir assassin
A découpé la face

Et me voilà
Penché tout attendri
Sur ces photographies
Mal cadrées, désuètes
Quand ému je feuillette
Du coeur comme du doigt
L’album de toi

Toi ravissante au printemps
Les cheveux dans le vent
Roulant à mobylette
Toi poussant la chansonnette
Imitant
Voix et gestes d’une vedette

Toi pour un bal habillé
Dans un décolleté
Laissant peu de mystère
Moi plutôt con à l’arrière
Empoté
Dans mon costume militaire

Toi au premier rendez-vous
Si le cliché est flou
Ma main tremblait sans doute
Toi dans l’église à Neuilly
Le jour où sur un « oui »
Dieu unissait nos routes

Alléluia !
Bénis soient tes parents
Qui ont pendant des ans
Grâce à Nicéphore Niépce
Eu le brillant réflexe
De composer pour moi
L’album de toi

Toi férue d’écologie
Défilant dans Paris
Pour sauver la planète
Toi coquine, toi coquette
Une nuit
De quatorze juillet en fête

Toi débarquant à Roissy
De vacances de ski
La jambe dans le plâtre
Toi rêveuse devant l’âtre
Très diva
Très héroïne de théâtre

Toi dans de larges atours
Posant avec humour
Belle dans ta grossesse
Toi serrant sur ton sein lourd
Le fruit de notre amour
Six livres de tendresse

Et je suis là
Qui colore en rêvant
Ces vues en noir et blanc
D’un beau livre d’images
Et que page après page
Vient enrichir pour moi
L’album de toi

Toi
Que divers objectifs
Ont saisie sur le vif
Depuis ta prime enfance
Au gré des circonstances
Pour porter jusqu’à moi

L’album de toi

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Head > Heels
Ed Sheeran
“Head > Heels” is a track that aims to capture what it feels like to experience romance that exceeds expectations. Ed Sheeran dedicates his album outro to a lover who has blessed him with a unique experience that he seeks to describe through the song’s nuanced lyrics.
